What you guys drive for a long commute?
I drive Toyota Camry but my job was like 10 minutes from me and driving was no issue but during the Winter time between snowing/ice these 10 minutes can turn to like an hour. I'm starting new job much better than my current job and worth the drive and its exactly 45 minutes from me so with my Camry I will have no issue till Winter kicks in so I have to get new AWD car. Winter here is really nasty especially in Jan/Feb I don't know how is the weather in North/ south Dakota but temperature can drop to 0 easily in Jan.

VA hiring process 2020
Yes mine too, they didn't even have the time for the board to discuss grade so HR put me as a nurse II level 12 and I did all paper work including Vetpro in like a week, they send me the firm offer before physical and finger prints which is now a part of the orientation. I'm located in Ohio but the VA that I've applied to is in Detroit which was hit hard with COVID. I will drive an hour from my house to the VA but it's worth it I think and I'm really excited.

VA hiring process 2020
I'm a float nurse and the position that I'm going to is ICU, in the dimensions I basically put many examples of my nursing practice, sometimes I had to repeat the same example for some of the question and sometimes I included like 2-3 examples from my practice, I think floating experience landed me to get nurse ll lever 12 beside that I gave them two recommendation letters from charge nurses that I worked with and also they contacted my current manger and the other two mangers that I've worked with and they put them as my actual references in Vetpro . I got the verbal firm offer over the phone on Thursday and I'm just like you can't wait till Monday to get the email or letter in the mail and on Monday I will also submit my 2 weeks notice for my current employer. Good luck !!

VA hiring process
They called me from the VA yesterday and they actually gave me a firm offer very quickly, they said they expedite my process due to COIVD 19. I have 3 years experience in acute care as a float nurse and they hire me as a nurse II level 12 which I'm really happy about and the salary away much more what I was expecting. My hiring process toke less than a month and Vetpro they did it in 3 days but I gave them all my mangers for the past 5 years as a reference.

VA hiring process
Hello, Last month I applied at the VA hospital one hour away from me and in different state, anyway I contacted nursing recruiter which she mange to do skype interview with me and another two mangers due to COVID 19 pandemic. My hiring experience looks very different and confusing, in my current job I'm a float nurse and mostly work in the ICU. I did get an offer to work in the VA but they called me three different times telling me that I was selected to be in different unit and finally the called me again and told me that they accepted me in surgical floor, I accepted the offer because it's a good opportunity to work in the VA. The nurse recruiter contacted my mangers for the past 5 years and asked them for reference and she is done with that. Few days after that they send me and email to complete Vetpro and they stated that they're expediting the process due to covid 19 and I completed that in the same day and when I looked at it the next day morning everything was verified including references and education and everything else, the next day they sent me tentative offer in their ICU. I'm so confused about the whole process, is it normal for them to call my mangers and ask them to be my reference? I submitted the same info over an over again and also completed the nursing dimensions like weeks ago and the nursing boarding. How long usually it takes in situations like these to give me the firm offer?

I'm Just wondering did hiring process change with this COVID?
Hello, Yes in the VA that I applied to in Mi they sent me an email saying that they're expediting my hiring process due to COVID situation and they actually sent me Vetpro through my email to start it even before they sent the tentative offer which is strange. The nursing recruiter contacted all my mangers in the past 5 years and got reference from them which is the same I used for Vetpro.

I need an experts opinions please !!
Thank you everyone for your encouragement. I had and interview with HR today and I hope things better from here but I'm just worry about what will be the outcomes of this. I told my manger that I like to switch to a different shift because I wont be comfortable working with her after this but this will take at least a month so I have to just ignore her and focus on my job. I'm not looking for another job because I did nothing wrong.

Thank you guys for all responses it really means a lot to me. I was always nice to everyone and still don't want to get them in troubles but obviously they need some kinds of training in how to respect people who are different than them.

I need an experts opinions please !!
Hello, I'm and RN who work in ICU unit since 3 years. I'm very nice open mind and very social person that I like to talk a lot to people around me. Anyway English is my second language and I had an incidents with some nurses that were making fun of my name or the way I spell some words which was not a big deal for me and I always considered that as a jock and it never got me to the point that I been mad or anything. Last week I got called on my phone by my charge nurse and she said its important to come to the nursing station and I was busy in a patient's room so she said to come asap because it's important. Any way I walked to the nursing station and there was my charge with 4 staff nurses and many people around there and she was telling me to repeat words and started to laugh loudly about the way I said it and all the other nurses were encouraging her and mocking my accent loudly and that made me really mad, I told her this is inappropriate and not professional and I walked a way while they kept laughing. I reported that to my manger and she immediately reported that to HR. Anyway I'm so worry because I never been involved in any situation like this, and I'm worry about what HR will do, I don't want anyone to get fire or discipline and I really don't know if I even did the right thing by reporting that to my manger. I feel like it's not a big deal but obviously according to my manger it is a huge deal. I need your opinion guys of what to do in cases like these because I'm really very confused because I don't want people to start avoiding me or retaliate against me after this.

racist patients
With all my respect to your opinion I believe YES this is 100 % racism case. I do respect this racist patient believes and emotions but if she was raped by someone like me as you are suggested she might just reject my care in the first night and she wont even let me touching her at all, I provided a 12 perfect care for this patient and when I left she said sorry I don't need foreigners or blacks to be my caregiver and another fact I would like to emphasis that I'm a US citizen like anyone else and I gained it by my hard work not by birth only so instead of labeling me you could just care about your health instead of labeling people left and right. Again I do respect all kind of thinking except of racism !!!!

Thank you everyone for your comments and it really makes me feel much better, actually it hurts when it happened but I will take it as a learning experience. I know sometimes its hard to deal with situations like this but I will just move on and keep doing my job because we are professionals.
