Actually being a nurse is a dedication, a passion and commitment. Yes there are people who are born nurses and some have studied nursing but it is not in their hearts, so they get burn out easily. We must remember the reason why we are doing what are we doing. We have a purpose which others cannot do, and it is on our hands to be the best healthcare that can be. It is always nice to work in a friendly, kind, supporting environment. I would enjoy coworkers that are helpful, patient in explaining what outcome they would like, direct, honest, and those that do the extra mile to reach out to you for a better working environment, if not for friendship. Asking about personal matters, however, may be dependent upon if a coworker becomes your close friend already, but if it's purely business, of course you will be a little hesitant or reserve in pouring it out. Either opportunity sounds great and would give you experience to further your career as a nurse. It is a tough decision however. I think you need to weigh getting an "in" in your area of interest over a full time job. The part-time could turn into full time if it goes well. However, you need to make sure your finances could handle part time for a while. Also, remember the peds option is an interview which is not a sure thing, so that'd be another risk. If your finances can handle it and it's truly your dream, then go for it. Good luck!

Resumes are always a little bit tough to organize - and there are always doubts and questions about what order to put things in. I think it depends on you personally and what other involvements you've had. If you feel you have very strong sections for volunteering, organizations and work experience, then put that before clinicals. Otherwise, put your clinicals first. Also- when you do your resume, be sure to highlight your skills and how you applied them in each situation. For example "I work well under stress. I continue to solve problems and motivate others" As far as non-nursing related work, include it if it still seems relevant or wasn't toooo long ago. It's always good to show that you can be professional and keep a job by showing you have prior experience. Good luck!

Back to the origins of this post about wages - I have been considering moving. So, I started looking around for pay information, I found a site that gave me a basic idea of what salary or hourly rate I would make depending on where I would move. The site shows nurse's salaries in many cities across the states. It's at Pacific Medical Training . Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information, I wasn't sure if i needed to do an in-person course (and didn't want to if I could avoid it for my recertification). Anyway I took it online with the "ACLS Training Center" and didn't have any problems with it being accepted. You are totally normal and it sometimes happen in start. Just think about what will happen if you will not do this and it will give you some strength to do it. Just stay calm and focused. And yes alot of more practice will be also helpful.
