  1. Well, I only have an IN license right now, so just to get started, I'll probably try to get something in IN as I work on getting licenses for CA, AZ, and/or TX.
  2. Thank you so much for taking the time to give me all of this information!
  3. Hello all! So I just finished up FNP school and I was sad at first because I never got to realize my dream as a TRAVEL RN. However, then I heard about Locum Tenens work for MDs/PAs/NPs. The thing is, I have A LOT of student loan debt that I want to get down quickly. I've had an easy of enough time finding out how much money I could rake in as a travel RN, but the information for WEEKLY pay isn't as abundant for Locum NPs. I know I'm a new NP with ZERO experience but I've scoured the forums enough to see that new NPs CAN make it in the travel world, even without having experience. So, that is not what I'm asking. But what I am asking is, how much can I expect to make? It is easy to see that travel RNs can make $30 - $50+/ hour, or take home $1500 - $3000/ week, depending on their specialty, area of the country, etc. But how does this compare to TRAVEL NP pay? Because with everything I've seen, it almost appears that a travel RN and a Locum NP make about the same. Any feedback is MUCH appreciated!
  4. Oh! See, completely wet behind the ears with this. Thank you! I will try case management.
  5. Thank you for this. I contacted the officer who I spoke with and he sent a letter to my university. =)
  6. Thank you. Everything was cleared up.
  7. This was the best advice. Thank you. I did this and everything worked out.
  8. Thank you for your kind words and non judgemental spirit. I've gotten everything cleared up.
  9. Yep, you got the whole story. Sorry it wasn't juicy enough for you.
  10. OP hasn't returned to answer questions because I'm in grad school, have 3 jobs, life goes on, and I posted on here to receive help and support. Not be questioned about whether or not I'm "telling the whole story." I don't owe any of you of you a defense to my claims. Afterall, I was there. You weren't.
  11. Right. I believe the official title is: RN Care Manager. So, being that its NOT hands on, what would be a fair salary to request?
  12. Hello All Just had an interview with the company listed in the title, and they asked me what salary I wanted/ expected. Told them I'd get back with them. I need YOUR HELP: Job Details: Part-Time (20 hours/ week) NO BENEFFITS Anywhere from 12 - 20 patients (not more than this unless I choose) SALARY Position Description: The Care Manager works collaboratively with the care management team to assess consumers, establish and implement a person-centric plan of care, conduct regularly scheduled homes visits, and oversee consumer care. The care management team credentials caregivers and their homes and provides ongoing support and training. This is a HANDS-OFF position Details About ME: RN (BSN) 4 years of acute care HOSPITAL experience (no home health) Will graduate with FNP at end of this year, so I do have experience with chronic illness and primary care If I get called by Branch Manager for second interview, I will ask about gas mileage, phone reimbursement, etc. OK, So, How much is a fair salary to request given the above information? (BTW, I live in the MidWest) Thanks for your help! I've never done ANY sort of Home Health Care AT ALL and would need to learn EVERYTHING (But I am a quick learner)
  13. I've spoken with my professor, adviser, and program director. I'm fine on their end. I want to know if anything can be said or done on the practicum site end.
  14. Because they were looking for me to notify me of the crime and ask if I potentially knew who the culprit could be
  15. OK SO, to make a very long story short- I was the VICTIM of a crime. I was at my FIRST day of my OB/Gyn clinical practicum (FNP Program) and State Police showed up to notify me. If was very discreet and I stepped outside of the office to talk to them. Needless to say, I was very shook up about the whole ordeal. I told my preceptor IMMEDIATELY what was going on and YES- that I was distracted! Wouldn't you be if on your first day of clinical State Police showed up and informed you of traffic news? Anyhow, my preceptor re-assured me over and over again that everything was OK and that she was sorry I was going through that. I finished the day to the best of my ability and told her I'd see her next week. TWO DAYS LATER I receive notice that because of that day, I'm being KICKED OUT of that clinical location! Don't get me wrong- I know that we as students are guests in any facility/ institution that helps us to succeed in our learning- but I had this site set up almost a YEAR in advance (you all KNOW how hard it is to find preceptors), AND- I didn't do anything wrong! Now, as a result. I have no preceptor and its in the middle of the semester. Because I can't finish, I fail the course and its not offered for another YEAR. Meaning my graduation is now pushed back a year. Can they do this to me??? Do I have any sort of rights or protections as a victim to a crime? IS there some sort of morality clause in the contracts that our learning institutions set up with those who agree to be our preceptors? Or are we all at risk? Can any preceptor for no good reason just screw us out of a grade and tuition whenever they feel like it?
