I took the test on June 2nd - 127 questions and 4 hours. I would say several SATA around 30 or more, a math question that I missed (1g=1mL) and many priority questions. It was brutal, you will feel like you failed. Worst nervous energy of my life. I received an email from Pearson about 7 hours later saying I completed the test and what to expect next then I did the PVT trick and to my surprise I got the "good pop up" You will get a message that says open registration right after the test and I have read that that is not the good pop up. The good pop says "The candidate currently has an open registration at this time. A new registration cannot be completed at this time." I read every website and determined that the PVT trick is real so I calmed down. I just checked my results and I passed! The PVT trick works 100% believe it. Good luck!

That is a great idea too! I recently applied for a PRN position and heard the manager will be pulling my resume for an interview on a surgical floor at the smaller hospital. I know the job will require more of me during the day but am looking forward to testing my skills so it prepares me later on. What was your other degree in? Have you graduated Nursing school?

Yes they are night shifts. I think I have made my mind up to go PRN in May or just quit altogether. I don't see the need and will have about 8 months experience as a CNA. The stress of working here and trying to catch up on sleep as well as study and do clinicals is not something I want to endure. I want to have complete focus on school and try and get the best grades I can. Thank you all for your insight.

What if I do not want to work in this area after graduation? I am hoping to apply to a residency program and move.

I currently work as a CNA at a level I, trauma I hospital in Neurosurgery ICU. I have been working there for about 4 months now and plan to continue working there for another 6 months at least. I start Nursing school in the Fall of 2015. I am single, no kids or relationship, and I moved back home to get through school. I currently have a BS in Business Management and am going back for a second career. My question is should I continue working as a CNA while in nursing school? I am working PT nights and have a hard time bouncing back when my 2 shifts are over. I also work another part-time job that pays more per hour and has less hours. I know that this is great experience but I find myself wanting to just focus on nursing school and not work as a CNA. I was thinking I could ask my manager to go PRN or try another unit for PRN when I start school. Any advice would be helpful?

HI JessBane! I know this is an old post but I thought I would try and reach out. I recently was accepted into the CRIBN program through Gaston and UNCC. I will start Gaston's 2 year program in the Fall of 2015 and then the last year at UNCC for my BSN. I am currently working as a CNA PT Nights at CMC Main in Neurosurgery ICU at CMC Main. I am single, living at home, no kids. I am wondering if I should work as a CNA while going to school or if I should just focus on school. Any thoughts into the difficulty of the program I would love to hear.

Hey there! I start Fall 2015 so I won't sign up for awhile. I am currently working as a CNA at CMC Mercy in Neuro ICU. I am so glad I am working before starting Nursing school. It has helped so far with the jitters that I am going to mess something up and I get to have hands on with the patients too. How are things going for you?

You are totally correct. This year is for pre-reqs. We also have to dually enroll at UNCC and take courses while we are at our respective nursing program. Since my pre-reqs will be out of the way I am looking into taking Spanish as well. We are in it for the long haul. SPCC offers a night class by the way. They just had a spot open up for this summer but it would start in two weeks if you are ready for that. I am confused as to why they would say we need to take a class at UNCC while we are at the community college and then give us a year to complete our pre-reqs.

Ok you made me feel better. I thought I needed these courses before I started. I already have English, pysch, and socio as well. I think we start taking nursing courses in the fall so it will be a tough schedule to add the other classes as well. I am wondering if you could sign up for a summer course and take one over the summer. Have you taken the CNA course yet? I am set to take that this summer at SPCC.

Hi Molly - I'm Grace. I'm 31 and this will be my second degree as well. I ask for financial aid for both schools but only think we need the first school as it says on the uncc site. I emailed him as well. I need a clear cut schedule of what I need to take. I found out today I need chemistry, stat maybe and algebra. I am almost done with Microbiology and A&P I. I need A&P II which I'm planning on taking in the Fall. What does your schedule look like?

YAY! Good for you. I have no clue just yet. I am attending the orientation for new nursing students at Gaston College next week. I am assuming George will be contacting us when we need to attend the UNCC orientation. I am hoping to speak with a counselor too at Gaston to see what I need for the Fall semester. All very exciting.

Thank you for your encouraging note. I was about to pull my hair out these last two days but am back on track. Reading reassures me that I am making the right choice no matter how hard it is.
