  1. mine are assymetrical too. i don't want to have more surgery though so my PS told me to wear underwear bras, all the time. those are so uncomfortable, so i'm just going around lopsided. I understand about the lifting limits and fatigue too, did the total hyst last october with no hormone replacement. glad you have great benefits and they are being good to you at work!
  2. Bless you, my prayers are with you... Sorry you are having to deal with this...
  3. How about "Pacific" instead of "specific"? Like can you be more pacific? Pacifically what are you asking?
  4. How about "exasturbation"! I actually read that in a nurse's note!
  5. Yes I have a juicer and when I was on chemo I juiced a lot of carrots and apples, celery, etc. I think I got tired of it though....
  6. That's what unemployment is for, technically, but the max payable in TX is $378 a week.
  7. You are right. I used to think the same thing, that why would a nurse need unemployment benefits because there is such a demand in the field. A "comparable" job, not a "crappy" job... and you can hold out for the same salary for so many weeks, then go for 80% of the salary.... Then if you have been "blackballed" by your previous employer it may be quite difficult to find a "comparable" job in the same area of work.
  8. My heart really goes out to all of you who are working with cancer and going through chemo and radiation. I think my job kept me going and gave me a purpose at that time. I would have chemo on Friday and go back to work on Monday. I wore a wig to work and it would end up half cocked LOL due to the itching and discomfort but I just wanted to appear "normal". I didn't have much support at work though, but they did allow me to stay in the office and do desk and telephone work so I wouldn't come down with an infection or something. I hope some day I am back to "normal" which I consider to be the energy level I had before I had cancer.
  9. In Texas you can't get unemployment benefits if you are fired for a disciplinary reason. Also you can get unemployment if you quit in certain circumstances.
  10. What I'm wondering about is when they give you the pre-employment drug screen and they ask what medications you have taken, I have quite a list... still on arimidex for 5 years and all the side effects and after effects of the surgeries and chemo... they will know about the cancer then won't they?
  11. I was diagnosed with lobular invasive breast cancer in June 2006. I had bilateral mastectomies with reconstruction. Chemotherapy treatments x 8. No radiation since I had the bilateral mastectomies however I had 6 of 13 lymph nodes positive. I am only 43 years old. I only missed 3 weeks work with the surgeries. Went to chemo on Friday and back to work on Monday. I worked in the office during that time and did not catch anything even exposed to plenty of germs through sick nurses that came to work. A few months after that during one of my routine CT scans they picked up a lot of cysts on my ovaries and uterus. In addition lots of cysts on my liver. Had a total abdominal hyst with oopherectomy. Can't take any hormones due to the hormone positive breast cancer. Right around that time my dad was dx with stomach cancer and had a gastrectomy. A month after my hyst mom couldn't take care of him anymore so he came to stay with us until he died about 6 weeks later. Now I am having back problems. One of my vertebra are not formed properly and missing the facet on one side of the L5/S1 so the disc is deteriorating and I have been having severe pain in my right hip and down the back of my right leg. My employer has been less than understanding and I was basically forced to resign from my position yesterday after having worked for them for over 3 years. Now I don't know what to do since I'm sure nobody wants to hire a nurse with a bad back. I started back to school and have about a year left before I can get a degree in healthcare management.
  12. I would suggest online classes. That way you could be near a restroom and able to go at any time. Less stimuli to provoke a panic attack too. Just my 2 cents worth
  13. School nursing here does not require a BSN but they pay about the same as a substitute teacher, $60 per day! My job as case manager in home health is pretty sweet now. It used to suck big time but things are much better now. Weekend call is every 6-7 weekends, weekday call about once a week.
