  1. To those who are planning to work in the UK, Ireland, Middle East, Australia & others, a Philippine license is a must. But to those who are planning to migrate & work in the US, a Philippine license may be useless. With this in mind, I advised my sister on not to worry too much on the uncertainty of the issuance of her RN license for passing the June 2006 exam. My sister is now waiting for the approval of her application to the Vermont Board of Nursing. Whether we like it or not, the US is in need of nurses. They will accept new grads because they don't have other options. A new grad is better than nothing. Speaking about ideal set-up, one can only find it in US nursing books. Foreign new grads should not expect that nurses in the US are doing the ideal way. After all, Philippine licensure exam is more difficult than that of NCLEX. Based on experience, I answered 500 questions to pass Philippine board exam. But with NCLEX, I only answered 75 questions. And take note, I finished BSN 11 years ago at the age of 19, took & passed Philippine exam in that same year but got my license after 5 years because I forgot about it. I didn't need it to work as a sales rep for a pharmaceutical company. By the way, I took & passed nclex last Feb and now working at Univ. california. Till then.. 2. It seems that cereza_18 would like to retake the board exam. I think that cereza_18 is not confident that he/she is going to pass it. The comment "because the mere fact that there's a rumor about the leakage, can be--in one way or another--a proof that there's a leakage." does not make sense to an average perosn. A rumor can be true or untrue; it cannot be deemed as proof when it is not true. In fact, nobody filed yet a formal complaint to the PRC. Why bother more than 36000 examinee with this tsismis. I suppose PRC should not conduct any investigation without first receiving a formal complaint. PRC should have shown professionalism with their job. I think ABS-CBN is irresponsible when it broadcast such tsismis. Siguro they earned big amount of cash from Gapuz competitors. ABS-CBN should be blamed if this rumor spreads to other countries. RN (Philippines, UK, USA (Vermont & California) :angryfire
  3. ohio board of nusing waves their tse & cgfns requirements to foreign nurses with vermont rn license & others. i think all other bon has the common sense to wave cgfns requirement when a foreign applicant passed the nclex or licensed in one of the us boards of nursing. bsn, rn (philippines, uk, usa (california & vermont)
  4. i am a registered nurse, licensed to practice nursing in the philippines, uk & usa (vermont & california). i strongly recommend to all foreign nurses to apply for initial rn licensure with vermont board of nursing. please take note of the following reasons why i recommend vermont board of nursing (vbn): 1. vbn only requires foreign nurses to submit completed application form, $125 check, 2x2 picture and transcript of records (sealed by school registrar). 2. vbn doesn't need social security number and fbi fingerprint card. 3. vbn can process your application in three-month time. california & other states may take more than six months to complete the processing of applications. 4. vbn personally evaluates your credentials & transcript of records. thus, foreign nurses need not to pay huge amount of dollars to cgfns for credential evaluation services. this is an advantage against new york, arizona, texas & other states which depend cgfns for credential evaluation. 5. vbn issues permanent license to foreign nurses even without social security number 6. rn licenses issued by vbn can be endorsed to all states in the usa. ohio which requires foreign nurses to pass tse waves such requirement if foreign applicants endorse a vermont license. thanks...
  5. Based on experience, I recommend nurses to take initial licensure with vermont board of nursing. they process applications in three months time & would only ask an official copy of your transcript of records & photostat copy of foreign license. they issue licenses even without sss number. they wont require you to pay fees to cgfns. they won't require cgfns certificate. I think vermont is better than new york. because with new york, nurses still pay processing fee with another credentialing body. thanks.
  6. yehey,,,,, retrogression is over....bush signed into law HR 1268......
  7. From Hammond Law Group 05/04/2005 HEALTHCARE IMMIGRATION ALERT: RETROGRESSION LEGISLATION: DONE DEAL! The deal between the House and Senate to recapture unused immigrant visa numbers and eliminate retrogression was finalized late last night. The deal creates a special EB3 immigrant class for Schedule A occupations -- registered nurses and physical therapists. The special class exempts 50,000 immigrant visas from the general EB3 category and effectively ends nurse and physical therapist retrogression for at least the next two or three years. It is expected that the formal enabling vote will take place next week. The President will sign the legislation shortly thereafter. It may take the Departments of State and Homeland Security several weeks to apply the law. At this point HLG estimates retrogression will be effectively lifted for EB3 Schedule A occupations with the publication of the July Visa Bulletin. The July Visa Bulletin should be released in mid-June. HLG and its coalition partners, which include many prominent immigration attorneys, staffing companies, healthcare facilities, hospitals, and healthcare advocacy groups have spent several months working with Congressional representatives to raise awareness about the healthcare staffing shortage and push for Congressional action. We are quite pleased with the result of our efforts and we will continue advocating for more favorable healthcare staffing legislation and policy. We would also like to extend a big "Thanks!" to all of those who contributed to the cause, such as our lobbyist Joan Bonderoff of Specturm Group, and especially to those who contributed financially -- your money was well-spent! If you are interested contributing to our next lobbying effort, please contact Chris Musillo
