El Centro SPring 2013
@ agie89 just a lil advice .. I have many family members that are now RN's men and women and some with an associates and some with a bachelor in registered nursing. first let me tell you please do not believe all the foolish hype and stories about needing to have a bachelors degree in nursing to find a job, my 55 year old aunt has been an RN for 30 years and told me they have been trying to use that scar tatic about needing a bachelors since she went to RN school way back in the day and my friend who just graduated as an RN in 2012 now has a great job both of them only have associates degrees in RN. The differeance between bachelors and associates RN is $1 to $1.50 more per hour earned not worth the expensive university cost of classes and not worth all the extra time spent in those classes, and no lie the exact same state board exam that all the associate degree RN's take are sitting in the same exact room side by side elbow to elbow with the bachelor degree nurses takeing the exact same exam to get licensed only difference is the bachelor spent a lot more tine and money in school and will get paid a buck more per hour. to me not worth itt... but hay to each is own .. if that your thing go for itt. I will say since you already have a bachelor in psycology you would do just fine with an associates degree only in RN, and still be able to have a lot of job oppurtunities, ok so now lets get to the part that caught my eye I also have a bachelors degree but in business management and I want a associates degree in RN but I had no idea that el centro doesn't count any of my previous classes and allows me to double upp that info has me really concerned because I was planning on my classes that I have completed for my bachelors being able to count for my associates in RN. well guess what my friend theres still hope for you i found out from a for sure resourceful source that over at trinity valley community college they will accept your previous course work and allow you to double upp all you need to do is have all of your course works and transcripts tranfered to trinity valley and they will count them as courses completed. so this will be a bad business move for el centro they will loose a lot of (customers/students) and loose a lot of income because every one will invest there money and enroll over at tvcc... elcentro will eventually notice this lost and began to allow students to double upp on there classes.. because like the old saying goes... money talks and bull shhhhhhhhhhhhh walks...... so i hope this info helps you out and encourages you to keep going forward to reach your dreams and goals... when one door shuts another door opens...

TVCC Nursing Program 2012
In the TVCC ADN program brochure on page #2 it says that the hesi consists of reading math & grammar.... no A&P ??? so I am guessing you only need to take the critical thinking part of the HESI and not the full HESI that includes both critical thinking and A&P so does any one know which is needed ??? Does any one know which Hesi exam TVCC ADN program requires ??? is it HESI A2 Entrance Exam WITH Critical Thinking or Critical Thinking Exam ONLY

Northlake/ elcentro college nursing program. spring 2014 applicants
I here you @ duke ... what in the world is going on with all these crazy changes at all these RN programs. each one requires different points I fit most closely with TVCC but I would like to think that I have a second option like el centro incase TVCC doesn't except me. but due to el centros point system my only option will be for TVCC only I don't see why TVCC would not except me I meet all of their point requirements but there is still always that possibility that they still will not except you and it would have been nice to have el centro to fall back on with out needing to take more classes than the 120 college credit hours I have now. ughhhhhhhhhhh its so annoying, like you said . blahhhhhhhh

El Centro/ Northlake Nursing Spring 2014
@ abenton111 I have a bachelors degree in busin. mngt. already. that's why I only want my associates degree in RN.

El Centro/ Northlake Nursing Spring 2014
I don't want a bachelors in nursing I just want my associates but I have a lot of classes towards my bachelors done already because I have a bachelors in business management, but I still will only land at 24 points over at el centro and I refuse to take any more classes and spend more money, so the best fit and where I can get in with a lot of points and be really close to having all the points I need will be over at a school called trinity valley so I am leaning in that direction. but I will still try to apply at elcentro with just 24 points even though I know that wont be enough its worth a shot. but elcentros new point system is wack. to many class requirements trinity valleys point system seems to be much better. the only thing bad I see about trinity valley so far is the long drive all the way to kaufman or Terrell or where ever its at...

Declaratory order Texas
@ mr doug dude if there just misdemeanors pay a lawyer to have your records sealed and closed and then when they go to do a background check it will say records not available and sealed. It is against the law for them to question why your records are sealed and closed. and you can skip having to go through all the riga ramoe of Austin trips to justify yourself to the board. now this will not work if you have felonies. only for misdemeanors only. Another thing is if sealing and closeing your records is not enough and you still end up having to go and justify yourself in Austin at the board of nurses, than what ever you do not and I repeat do not go with out legal representation there is something called a registered nurse lawyer who is an actual RN and Lawyer. look up a lawyer named --------- or any other lawyer of your choice I just heard from other Rn's that he is good. He is located right there in Austin and he represents Rn's in your situation all the time. now the reason I say is do not go to Austin rn board by your self without a lawyer to represent you is because of a friend of mine was telling me that a RN coworker of her made a huge mistake of going without a lawyer and the RN board in Austin put her through the ringer with all kinds of questions as if she were a criminal and was on trial and even made her cry and to top it all off she had been waiting from 7am all the way till 4pm in the waiting area before the board would actually even speak to her than they spoke with her and treated her like she had commited murder and all she did was get into a cat fight with another gurl and got asualt charges but the RN board treated her as if she was a hardcore criminal. she told my friend that she would never go Austin Rn board again with out legal representation (lawyer) she said the ones who showed up with there lawyers didn't even have to speak to the RN board they only spoke to their lawyers and they were in by 7am and out by 8am and went on with their lives. im telling you unless your ready to be physically and emotionally drained from sitting for 10 hours starting from a 7am appointment and getting screamed at and treated like a criminal to the point of tears. then feel free to go without a lawyer. if I was in those shoes though I would spend a little and invest in bring an RN lawyer to represent me it would be worth it. hope this advice helps you Mr doug

Tvcc 2014 - 2016 opinions & advice on all the tvcc adn program changes.
hi well I was reading on here that the cut off for this year over at el centro was at 27 points im at 24. and I choose to not take any more classes, because im starting to realize that I keep on takeing more and more classes and these rn programs keep changing there degree requirements and adding more classes for more points which means I keep on spending more money on classes its mentally, physically, and financially draining me at this point so ive decided that I will apply over at trinity valley and at el centro and at lone star college in Houston and just see who will except me with the classes I have completed at this point. hopefully one of them will if not im throwing in the towel. I feel like I gave it my complete hole heartedly best to obide by all of these rn programs requirements but they just keep adding more points and more class requirements and everytime I think ive done enough and im ready to apply for an rn program they add more classes so that they can make more money. let me just put it like this I have over 120 college credit hours and it still is not enough. it only leaves me at a guestimate of 24 points total. a lot of my credit hours are toward another degree but a lot of them are towards ADN and still not enough im wiped out if I do throw in the towel I will not feel bad because I know that I gave it all I could and gave it my best to try to accomplish this goal ive completed every single class reqyurement needed for the bachelors program over at tvcc so im hopeing I can get in over there if not elcentro or lone star in Houston but I doubt it will be elcentro since the cut off is 27 an im at 24. I refuse to take any more support classes I need to save energy money and brain power... lol for the classes to come when in the RN program. so we will see what happens any ways hope this helped you out.

El Centro/ Northlake Spring 2014
just wanted to give the heads up about the TSI requirements for those that are not aware there are TSI exemptions if you have a associates or bachelors then you are exempt and the highest developmental class that you need to earn an associated degree is developmental math 0097 so if your at least at that level of math and you earned an associates you do not have to meet TSI requirements, this is TEXAS state law rules trust me I researched it and read up on it since im not that great at math, im actually not that bad at math until you start getting into anything that has x or y in the math problem which would be all of algebra so decimals fractions adding subtracting all good algebtra... horrible.......lol well hope this helps
