  1. Here in north africa we nurses usually change the vent settings depending on the pts need and after that you will inform the intensivists
  2. I felt the same way as you do... I was transferred from med surg unit to icu almost a yr ago. I also felt dumb at that time and also it was too overwhelming to see lots of machines and understanding different vent settings. But i told to myself I CAN DO IT... During my free hours ar home i read about care for crtically ill pts ecg ventilators and etc... And now i can say i am a good icu nurse... Just believe in yourself and do what u think is right and always be positive
  3. Shock should be given even if the abdomen is open
  4. Assess the patient first before anything else...
  5. I think instilling lubricant directly into the meatus is indicated for BPH pt because of difficult insertion. In addition to that when putting gel into the foley catheter make sure to prevent applying on the holes because the urine will not go through it during ibsertion...
