Where did you all buy your white nurse shoes?
Walmart Safetreds in white. If you can't find them in store, you can order them online, have them shipped to the store and take them out and walk in them there. If you don't like them, you can return them while you're there. Mine were $22 and they are fabulous! No sore feet at clinical.

Working While in Nursing School
Sounds like you were looking for a fight. I was responding solely to the original poster. She asked if it could be done, and I responded with yes, but it isn't wise. I shouldn't have to wait around until someone else responds just to make you feel like I am not targeting you. And since you insist, in real life you COULD harm a patient due to lack of sleep. It happens frequently. *shrug* I don't really care what you do. I have found that working less is just what I needed. No luxury involved. We struggle daily because of this decision. You might have noticed my reference to sacrifice?

shoplifting nurse... License revocation?
Get the best lawyer you can afford, and ask for an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal. If you get this, and stay "good" for whatever amount of time the judge orders (he may also order community service), the charge will be dismissed and not on any record. Keep it under your hat until you know what's happening. And check your buggy next time, little mistakes aren't worth it. Best of luck.

Would you go the traditional BSN route after LPN.
I am doing the LPN bridge to RN and then traditional BSN. That's the plan now. We have very little financial means and this is a way to step up in paygrade as I go. All the way to NP. :0)

Lpn school
I draw pictures. Literally. I am a visual learner and things come together when I draw it out and get a feel for it. I also watch youtube viseos for a visual of how each system works, or each skill, etc.

Concerned with LPN School Backgound Check
I have not, but your question is best directed towards your chosen school and your state requirements. It is my understanding that certain charges bar you altogether. No one here can give you the final word on that.

Working While in Nursing School
I currently work overnights fulltime and attend school. I am a mom of a 4 year old and a wife. Most days are 18-19 hour days and I get about 6-10 hours of sleep from monday to friday. I do not work weekends, ever. I am currently requesting to cut down to part time. My grades suffer, my homework is a mess because I nod off. Driving to and from school is incredibly dangerous. The sacrifice, IMO, is not worth it. If you can financially handle working only part time or not at all, I would suggest it. Our sacrifice now has to come in where we spend money, instead of me sacrificing my health, sleep and sanity. It's also irrespomsible to work extemsively and be doing clinicals. You could seriosuly endanger someone. My suggestion, try to find a way to work part time or not at all. Focus on your studies. Knock it out of the park and then enjoy that cushy salary.

What should I do before the LPN program begins?
Relax! Enjoy your sleep. Maybe brush up on basic algebra if you're dying to do something. Med terms would be fine, but just look at them once a day. Really, you should just relax while you can. The next year or more is going to be nothing but studying, get down time while you can.

Unappreciative classmates
Imagine how thrilled your patient would be if you DID have the answer. This is precisely what saved my father's life as a child; someone who'd heard about an obscure illness one time in school. He proposed the possibility, they tested and they saved his life. 5 minutes of my time is worth the miniscule chance. I'm not for celebrating mediocrity.

Opinion on your uniforms?
I can't stand white pants. It's just an accident waiting to happen. However, I am especially lucky that during theory and lab days I can wear whatever scrubs I like. Yay!!

Delta college! (Rant)
They CAN NOT ask you questions regarding your children, childcare, or relationship status! Ever! Report them, right negative reviews and move on to a new school. Best of luck!

Roll Call 2013?
Mom of one preschooler, wife to an amazing man! Program- LPN School- WNY Area Graduation date- August 2014 General overall feeling so far?- Excellent! Things are going well so far, test are going well too. Somewhat disappointed by the limited LPN scope of practice; already searching for options to continue education as soon as I am done. :)

Motherhood & nursing school
Find an excellent babysitter! Start early, interview many and go with your gut. And get back up for your babysitter and back up for your back up!! I'm one week into my program and it is a very different dynamic from what I am used to. I work fulltime as well, which makes it tough. In any case, I've had tons of trouble finding the right childcare provider. You CAN do this! Remember that pumping is your right. You must be provided with an outlet, a sink to clean your pump parts and a private room to pump in. You may have to pump while you eat lunch, but it is what it is. Best of luck!
