  1. From what I have been told, in all the past years.. everyone that was on the waiting list has made it into a program. I hope you get in!
  2. To study for the reading I used the ATI book and made sure I knew how to spot the main idea, topic, etc in any passage. In a lot of the passages, they want you to look at the big picture. Or on the other hand they only want you to look at 1 sentence and that's it. You need to be able to identify what the question is asking for. Take your time reading the questions/directions
  3. . Periodic table patterns, bonding, balancing equations
  4. Adjusted Individual Score is your score and what will be looked at for your program. The mean-national is all the average score of the Teas test. this score is the same on everyones. The mean-program is specifically the average score of people at your schools nursing program. Hope this helps.
  5. Okay friends, I just got back from the TEAS test and I am so relieved!! For my program there isn't a pass/fail grade; it is by ranking. So I was studying my butt off because I needed as close to 100% I could get to stay competitive. I only started studying a week before and I ended up getting a 90% on my test. I am in my 3rd (and last) semester of pre-reqs and graduated high school in 2012 so all information is fresh in my head which was probably a huge advantage. The information is the basics! But we all learned it so long ago and never put it to use so we kinda just forgot about it. I have seen a lot of people complain about running out of time... I finished with 18 minutes left in reading, 7 minutes left in math, 20 left in science, and 2 left in english. I used 3 books to study with. the ATI official study book, The Secrets of the Teas Test, and McGraw Hills 5 Teas practice tests. I never took any online practice tests and did just fine. My scores were 90% reading, 90% math, 91% science, and 89% english. I was greatly surprised. Okay so here was you need to know!! Ask me anything and Ill answer the best I can. I hope this helps you guys and just breathe when you are taking it!!! READING Main idea, topic, theme, supporting details topic sentence & summarizing sentence reading directions accurately Reading was pretty straight forward, lots of diagrams too. MATH lots of simple addition and multiplication but takes time. fractions, fractions, fractions. Percentages reading graphs no word problems SCIENCE basic basic basic A&P... BASIC lots lots lots of chemistry Taxa classifications Life Sciences Basic biology ENGLISH simple, complex, compound sentences correct punctuations subject/pronoun-verb agreements spelling synonyms homophones sentence flow. The book I used the most was the TEAS Secrets. It cut out all the fluff and was straight to the point of what you needed to know. If you are going into more depth than that book, you are doing too much. I think people, including myself, are expecting the TEAS to be like one of our A&P or Micro tests when in fact it is simple and we don't do good because we did not study the simple. Good luck to you all!!!
  6. The best part about Amazon is that you can actually sell them back your book when you are done "Trade in" and you can get up to $100 in an Amazon gift card and you can use it towards your next book. I did that with all my prereq books but I will probably want to keep a lot of nursing books..
  7. do you need only 2% more to get a B? If so, I would stick with it. If you drop it you are going to be so behind. Dont give up!
  8. have you looked into forensic nursing? It looks pretty awesome to me and I bet that is something you. I do believe a MS is required but it seems like a pretty great job.
  9. I volunteer at a hospital and at also a hospice. At the hospital I am in a surgery waiting room helping the families and PACU nurses. At hospice I am at the front desk and I also do companionship for patients who do not have families. Get a head start on volunteering. The more hours you have the better, and also the better your supervisor knows you, the better letter of recommendation you will have! Goodluck :)
  10. Who else here is applying to ASU for the summer or fall 2014 cohort? Applications are all due February 1! There are 60 spots for summer dpc, 60 spots for fall dpc, 30 spots for fall at Mayo, and 20 spots for fall at the VA hospital. Lots of options this year. What are you guys choosing? How is your GPA and TEAS? I'm going to be a nervous wreck until i get a letter in the mail that will either confirm or squash my dreams. I really want to get into Mayo. That would be so awesome. Share the love and support here!!!
  11. I took it online in 8 weeks and got an A, barely. I also took it by itself. PM me for some studying tips for it. The quizzes are straight from quizlett, there are 4 essays... about 3 pages each. Labs were pretty intense and you have to be sooooo thorough. bombed the midterm but learned how to study for the final. Got an A on the final. The tests are 80 points multiple choice and 20 points of 4 free response questions. She gives you 20 free response questions before the test and will pick 4 of them. So you already know what you are getting tested on! Goodluck! I couldnt imagine taking this with anything else, especially HCR 240! eek
  12. I take my last pre-req in Spring! Patho! Errrrr.. kinda scared. My other 4 classes are all nutrition classes that will complete my minor. My application for upper division is due in spring and I will find out if I am accepted for fall 2014 right before the spring semester is over. Anxious! Excited! Scared!
  13. My application for fall 2014 isn't due until Feb 1 and from there we will know by April 1. Such a long wait when I feel next fall is so close. haha well not really. Im just anxious!
