Level 3 In the summer is too intense I strongly encourage you to make sure that is what you want. This program takes up ALOT of time when it's not crunched into a summer semester so if you have god aweful amounts to study do it, as long as you don't mind having zero social life . That's my advice to you. I know a lot who failed the summer course because it's time consuming

You take the TEAS test in the nursing testing center on the 2nd floor. You have to schedule it. It basically tests your knowledge from everything science, history, georgraphy, basic algebra and math, anatomy, etc. Don't freak out about it, it's just to help your instructor see where you need more help at that's all. For finerprinting, the administrator will approve it, don't worry too much about it..mine wasn't approved till 4 weeks into the semester and if you have something on your background, trust me you wont be able to start, they will make sure you are pulled from class till the issue is resolved, so don't freak out if it hasn't been checked off yet, during enrollment they have over 120 of them to process along with dealing with this and that and questions and answers and registrations. You get the point. My recommendation is, try to stay on top of things and read ahead IF you can. The tests are not easy. Level is the foundation for everything you do. If you don't build a solid foundation you will be behind. My suggestion is to start understanding and memorizing lab values because it will help you in clinicals and understanding the body a little more better. Another recommendation is, although I don't recommend the SPC book package, since I only used my FUNDAMENTALS book, if you want to know whats essential for level 1, its the FUNDAMENTALS Book, the NANDA book and I strongly suggest you buy a good physio/pathology book (you will need it) and buy the Basic fundamentals for success book. It will help you out for tests TREMENDOUSLY. The questions in that book are almost identical to what the test questions will look like. anyways if anyone has questions let me know.

I was at HealthSouth this semester and it was fun, the staff is awesome and helpful, and you learn a lot and get to play nurse for real with real life patients. Don't freak out, after the 2nd week you will be a pro at it, trust me, we all were nervous that first 2, 3 clinical days we started. Yes for the first 8 weeks, you are in class. The days are long and the lectures are tedious and some of them can put you to sleep. Recommend you read up on the powerpoints so when they go over stuff, it will reinforce what you read and it will help answer any questions that you may have. I worked 40 hours a week and studied my tail off. The tests are not easy. You HAVE TO use you critical thinking skills on each answer. there will be questions that sound like the right answer is infront of you but I am going to tell you this right now...READ THE QUESTION. I can't stress that enough. There may be 4 answers that are correct, and they all are.. but which one is more of a priority or more important or must be done first is where you use your skills. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

For the ATI testing signature proof, go to ATITESTING.COM and put in your username and password. click my results, click the report you want (the teas one , not the purchase report). Your results will come up. put your mouse of the top of the page and you will see a download option. just download and save the file to computer, than go to CP and upload that file. It worked for me and they accepted it. As far as TB thing, you have to show some documentation you had it done, it doesnt have to be a form or anything filled out. just results and date it was done. The classes havent reported yet to ANGEL Highway girl. However there is a notice on the login page that says "when reporting for clinicals, show up at 7am for days and 3pm for evening" not 6am and 2pm as the courses are listed on MYSPC for start times Also there was a email that just posted on angel that said THE FOLLOWING IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CERTIFIED PROFILE!!! Your instructor will need a "COMPLIANT" To-Do list at the beginning of the semester, prior to your attending clinicals. Instructions for printing To-Do Lists are found on Angel Commons under Lessons, CertifiedBackground.com. Any requirement that is due for renewal during the semester (will show as "OVERDUE" after the due date or "INCOMPLETE" prior to the due date) MUST be updated on or prior to the renewal date in order for you to be permitted in clinicals. According to our contracts with the health care facilities, all requirements must be kept current during the semester in order for you to attend clinicals so, any "OVERDUE" or "REJECTED" item needs to be taken care of ASAP in order for you to be permitted to attend clinicals. Any "INCOMPLETE" item will be coming up for renewal within the next 60 days and will need attention. An Assessment of Health Status form is only necessary as an annual renewal of your Physical. A NEW Health History and Physical (trip to the doctor) is only necessary upon admission to the program and annually if there are major changes in your health as shown on the Assessment of Health Status form. Pay attention to the due dates on the alerts. Annual flu shots are not due until 9/1 each year. Upon receipt of the flu shot, load the documentation in Certified. A flu shot declination is also an option with the requirement of wearing a mask while on the clinical site during flu season. Documentation of the annual flu shot or decination must be loaded in Certified by your first clinical after 9/1. For students who are not in their first semester ---- Due to some updates to the program, student Health History and Physical and/or Assessment of Health Status forms may have been deleted from the appropriate requirement in your account and need to be reloaded. If your Health History and Physical requirement was previously "Complete" but now shows as "OVERDUE", your Health History and Physical form should be found in your "Document Center" and be easily loaded back into the appropriate requirement. I went to the clearwater campus (you can go to any campus with financial aid). I spoke to Alice Marks and she told me i can email her my book list (from angel) along with a receipt from the bookstore showing you ordered the supplies that shows the total. Her email is [email protected] @highwaygirl Wow i cant believe your insurance doesnt cover it. mine covered the TB tests, the TDAP shot and my complete blood work for the other immunizations to show what I am immune to (the only thing that showed i was not immuned to was the HEP B so i declined it for now but am planning on starting the 3 series soon just incase). @Jennifer, you can get BP buff, i got mine off amazon for like 20 bucks or so. the bookstore sells one for like 35 but there are cheaper options out there, just make sure its the manual one you inflate yourself not an automatic one. CVS has one for like 20 bucks. Mine was a standard size adult arm cuff. Fingerprints, like nblue said, whenever they get to it, its not important its just they have alot of applicants and they are waiting to see who is getting in, who isn't passing based on backgrounds, etc, just get the scan done and you are done for that requirement. For those that are wondering, clinicals dont start for 8 weeks into the semester so you have time to get them done, just dont wait till the last second. I have to go get my second TB test done this week. Got my TEAS test tomororw....

Actually my total online with that coupon was 34.38 (that included 2.27 in tax) so the coupon knocked the total price down from 43$ to 32$. Nice little saving to have both the syllabus and clinical guide printed. Teammurse, they provide you a online copy, they dont provide you a print copy. you want the print version, you have to print it yourself is what they meant.

My book line of credit was 800. However that does not even come close to coverin all the books. The E-PACKAGE (454), plus the DAVIS package (140) plus the TABERS package (131),plus the skills kit (142) alone without tax is 868 (with tax is 930). Thats not including any supplies, patches, etc. I went to the financial aid office and asked for more, they asked me to email them a copy of the book list thats required, the receipt showing it was order and total cost on it, and they increased my book line of credit to 1100$.

SKFORD they are going to provide you a shirt from TGH to wear. I dont know if you get to keep it or not. As far as clothes, no shorts or jeans, so either wear khakis or scrubs. TGH has red tops and black bottoms scurbs. You can shoot her an email and ask her what to wear if need be, she's great as responding back quickly.

3 more weeks till school starts. Tryin to soak it all in before mayhem begins lol. I finally got my books and skill kit today, and got my polo shirt and pants and shoes yesterday. The only thing I still need to buy is the clinical top but since clinicals dont start for 4-6 weeks after the semester, I am not worried about it. Dont forget to sign up for the workshops if you haven't already done so. The math workshops are on the 13th and 14TH and the other 2 workshops are also on the 14th so if you have signed up for a ATI test the 14th, you are going to miss a couple of workshops. Also i signed up for the volunteer thing over at Tampa GEN hosp. They are going to give recommendation letters, which will look good down the line when you apply for jobs in the area. Plus its a great way to market yourself and network with some hiring people over at TAMPA GENERAL if you plan on working there, which I plan on, since they have a top notch cardiovascular specialty program ranked top 10 in the country.

@ melody No you need the series. The booster is only if you have some immunity, the booster "boosts" that immunity. The series actually creates the immunity. To any ALTERNATE who just got in, make sure you are doing the RIGHT CPR class. It has to be the AHA-BLS course, not the basic one the red cross offers. I can't stress that enough. Financial aid will be dispursed last week of SEP, hence the due date to pay tuition is in OCT. you MUST get a ID card before you can sit for the ATI test. If you don't have one, you will have to sit out the test for another time slow. They said that at orientation. The HEC ID will give you a new STUDENT ID, that's the one you will for the entire duration of the nursuing program because it tracks your ATI scores from the STATE when you go apply for the NCLEX boards.

If you take the night program, you run through the semester non stop and will graduate in DEC 14. Highway girl, PM your facebook info, so maybe we can setup a study group if you are interested since we are in the same class. I have a couple of other people who got into the burgess class as well if you are interested in forming a study group :)

I am going to price out the books on AMAZON and see if they are cheaper to buy. I hate hauling books around but I am the type who likes the print books.
