  1. I think the date was changed due to previous semesters comments of having one of the clinical classes with another class was too much, although no official explanation was ever given. As far as learning, so far I've only had the two classes that were really more paper writing than learning content, so I can't truly comment on that yet. I'm doing the online program because I have to work and my job is impossible to attend scheduled classes and remain full time (4-10 hr shifts plus call every week).
  2. I started in August and was quoted around the 34K range. Since starting the program, our graduation date has been pushed back a semester, so that will add another 4-5K. My first class was awful, but I believe that was very much due to the instructor. It would take up to two weeks to get grades back only to see that points were taken off for random things not mentioned in the grading rubrics. I easily spent 25-30 hours per week doing work for that class. The class I'm in now is a completely different story. Instructor is very good about feedback and answering questions and I spend probably about 15 hours a week doing work. I'm very nervous for advanced patho and pharm next semester though.
  3. I'm in the same boat, except I'm going for FNP. Fortunately my call is only every 9th day, so it isn't too bad. I figure when it comes time for clinicals, I will either hope for some weekend hours, or end up using vacation days to do clinical hours. I'm trying not to worry about that aspect of it too much right now!
  4. Our call crew is a circulator, an FA, and a tech. We do 24hrs on weekends (7a-7a), except the FA's do both days (48hrs). Our call schedule is on a set # of day rotation (every 8th or 9th day depending on role), so you know your call days for the whole year in December! We have a set of rules for picking up extra call due to vacancies, vacations, etc.
  5. Try switching from cream cheese to peanut butter for a couple days to see how that makes you feel (just be mindful of the serving size.)
  6. I try to have some sort of protein and fiber. I like the Thomas whole wheat light English muffins (100 calories, 5 or 8g of fiber) toasted with peanut butter and a banana. Same with the bagel thins instead of the mini bagels. Greek yogurt with a little granola and some fruit is good too. I just can't do the oatmeal thing though! Oh, I always try to have some kind of snack in my lunch bag so that if I really needed to, I could scarf something down really quickly. It always makes me laugh when every health and fitness plan says to eat 5-6 small meals at regular intervals, etc - come follow me in my job a week and see how well that plan works!!
  7. I have trouble finding comfy shoes, but I've been wearing Klogs (the Naples style) for over 2 years. I love them! Good support but still have some cushion. I tried Danskos and they made my feet hurt way too bad, even after multiple attempts to break them in.
  8. Congrats to everyone! I received my acceptance e-mail Tuesday, looks like I'll be joining quite a group! I'll be doing the online program and very nervous of how That will work.
