No they didn't that's why I didn't accept the spot needed time to research my options before I gave up my classes.

I agree with pp. have many interviews lined up if ur coming all this way. I've known ppl that have gotten hired in SA from out of state with out a face to face, anyway I like Corpus lots of things to do but Christus is a low paying company compared to others. I no longer go there!! But even if you wanted to go there which I advise against, they are not accepting students into the nursing program anymore. They lost their privileges until they get to an 80% nclex pass rate. Janderson111 I'm going with baptist health, their pass rate is the best even though it's an ADN. UIW has an adcap program that I'll do my BSN through. I think baptist has a RN-BSN bridge program now so I'll figure it out when I get there. Just ticked about Wayland & their screwed up teaching methods. How's it going for u?

Baptist health in San Antonio is only like $24,000 if you take prereqs with them. If you have your prereqs done which I think you do then it's $19,000 I believe. It's on their website. As for the the school I think it's number one in San Antonio for the best nclex ADN pass rate so it prepares you pretty well. Ppl that I know who go there love it!! I'm transferring for the fall 2014 from a BSN program. I was accepted for the spring but I had to take time to cover all my bases but I think this is my choice. I also applied to sac but bshp seems like a better fit for me. Good luck!! Don't worry about teas it's over rated

I'm an ER tech and I'm not an EMT. I'm a medical assistant. I also have my CNA but have never used it, I've always worked in clinics as an MA. I just got hired about 3 months ago so I'm new at it but the only difference for me is foleys, starting IV's and a whole lot of CPR, oh and fighting patients lol. I did pediatrics for 10yrs in nice calm clinics. The other techs I work with are emt basics, one paramedic and one CNA. They sent here to EKG and phlebotomy classes. What they did with me since Ma's get EKG and phlebotomy training they tested me on what I knew, what I didn't know they taught me with the hospital educator. Like foleys MA's don't do that or IV's. Then I got signed off during my shifts by the charge nurse. You should ask around. That CNA that's in our ER was housekeeping before going to the ER as a tech. She asked what she needed, got her CNA worked upstairs then used the hospital tuition assistance to get certified in EKG and phlebotomy & the hospital taught her the rest. At least you have some medical background. You'll probably need EKG and phlebotomy. Look into what your hospital hires in the ER, you'll be surprised I was when they hired me with only MA experience. Most hospitals here only hire military medics, emts or CNA's with 3yrs ER experience. I worked with medics on base but as an MA. Hope this helps good luck!!

It usually takes awhile for that blue card. Where I went for my scan they filled out & gave me the original form that I took in with me to show the school that I actually did it. You'll prolly get in soon if it's been a couple weeks.

What do u mean kmoc? Angelicalvn2rn I think I might need to do that. They said they're flexible so maybe it will work if I don't schedule myself the night before clinicals so I can be there on time

Thanks George!! I'm 7pm-7am so it will interfere with clinicals if clinicals start at 6:30 I'll be all tired in class but clinicals is what was worrying me!!

Yes but I just started working night shift due to my hubby getting laid off so now I'm stuck deciding if the schedule will work for me I have to let them know by the end of today

Thanks for the info!! I'm not really a test taker but I like the no lecture part lol. I also have a family & a full time job but clinicals are 3hrs away. So that's my biggest issue right now. I also hate the whole 2.5yrs. I already took so many pre req's & to have to do 6 more months ughhh. Again thanks for the info!!

I got a re acceptance letter for the spring but I also got accepted to an ADN for the spring. Teachers/teaching sucks there. Most of us had groups where we all taught each other but that final ATI got me. I was paying all the attention to their slides & the textbook because they said that's what we needed to do. I should have bought the ATI books & u should do the same if you haven't. I was thinking of doing the online program there but it's so expensive & I heard they're doing away with it. Idk I just started another thread because I don't know what to do about the 2 programs. Time & money is tight & I have invested so much in this school but I can't look pass their horrible pass rates. I have to let the ADN school know by Monday. What would you do in my situation?

Well I just got accepted into 2 programs for the Spring, wonderful yes I know. So like everything in life there's pros & cons. I'm really stressing over this & need some advise please!! Here's the spill… For the past couple yrs I have been working towards my BSN. I found a private university close to home everything was good. I did my extra religions, Lits etc. come to find out that the 2012 NCLEX pass rate was in the 60% yikes!!! I know. So by this time I accepted my spot. Like I said I started in the fall failed fundamentals ATI, which brought my B to a C so failed the class with a 74% we need a 75% for this program. Well through my experience there I found out why their pass rate is so low… lack of teaching!! Teachers don't like you to question them. That means don't ask them anything. I can teach myself and had a B in the class before I took this ATI test. I Didn't read the ATI book like I should have since we were told everything was in the material we were doing in class. That's where I went wrong should have bought the ATI books. Anyway I take full blame for that. So I started looking into other programs and applied to an Associates program & got accepted. But the other day I got a re-admission letter from the BSN program I failed out of. I don't know if their pass rates have gone up yet since they haven't posted them on the bon website. What should I do!! Everything tells me to go for the new Program. Here are the Cons: 1. My pharm will not transfer, so I would have to start all over. 2. I hate that it's an associates in the same amount of time I can get my BSN since I have all my prerequisites done. But I can always go back to school & get that 3. I will have to pay for background, drug test, uniforms, books etc all over again. And I have loans & a credit card for school, I don't receive financial aid Pros: 1. The education might/should be better 2. Pass rate is awesome 3. It starts in the Spring 2014 4. I got accepted for that I'm blessed The problem is everyone I talk to & ask what I should do say that every program has their issues. They tell me that I already know how the old program works and it's a BSN, but is it worth it? It's close to home. I won't have to redo my pharm & it also starts this spring. I have all my uniforms, books, background, drug test etc. so I won't have to spend money on all that again. But the NCLEX pass rate!! Yukee I guess I'm scared that if I choose the new school it will be the same experience & I had to redo classes & pay for everything twice. I have a family & all this time & money affects us all as all you nursing students know!! I'm just so torn because I spend so much time & money in the BSN program but I also want the education I'm paying for ughh!! Please help!! I guess I'm leaning towards the new school because of the great NCLEX pass rates. They must be doing something right!! But I think I need reassurance. Thanks for any & all input & for reading this long cry for help

Didn't know this, wish my school changed their policy. I was out of a job & scrambling for a cheap plan when I got accepted

Have you tried county/state clinics? They are usually cheaper.

I would look into your school again because if you're accepted into the program you should be able to do it there. Or go to a clinic & ask for a cash paying physical, show them the form you need filled out. Usually clinics are cheaper if your vaccines are part of a full physical. Does your school want titers even with proof you already had vaccines? My school only wanted titers if proof of vaccine wasn't there. Like varicella I had it as a child but no proof, so they wanted a titer for proof, but MMR, hep b I had those so I didn't need a titer. That can save you money too, ask what exactly they need. Just curious, doesn't your school request for you to show proof of insurance before you are accepted? Before you spend on titers/vaccines ask about that maybe you do and can have this done after you get your insurance. Good luck!!

What don't you like about the program? How r clinicals? I work night shift & have 3 kids so this is why I'm debating on the ADN home program or WGU. I can attend the ADN program because it's a day program but it would be exhausting since I'll get out of work some days & go to class. But with WGU I'd have to wait till April to see if I get into the first part. So it would take a lil longer & I'll have to drive out to Houston & get a hotel. I'm just stuck on what to do!!

Teresasupermama what cohort are you in? I was looking into Houston. I think next cohort is April for the first 6mo then the nursing clinical part starts September 2015. I'm still debating because I have a program I can attend here at home that I'm waiting for acceptance for January but it's an ADN. Houston is about 3hrs away. How do u like the program?

Yup many ppl were upset about that because many chose that school cause it's close to them including me. I was doing pre req's to go to UTHSCSA for a long time. Then found this school & decided to go here instead cuz it was close to home, it would be easier with my kids & all. I had done all my pre req's for UTHSCSA except that second chem. So I did all their pre req's & now I regret it so bad I wish I would have stuck with the old plan cause the school sucked & now they have different classes everywhere, the one thing I was avoiding by going there. They just started using that Callahan building this quarter. I don't know how many classes they'll have there this quarter. Or if they have any there.

Oh I know all about wanting to plan. You sure you still wanna go there right? Lol Okay well here's your schedule They will probably have the same schedules. So the first 2wks you'll be on campus all day on Tuesday & Thursday doing computer/Docucare (which by the way we used once then they decided we weren't using it $260 ughh) till they figure out clinical & labs. We didn't have a clinical site that first clinical day. I don't know why they have time to prepare. I heard that this quarter some groups didn't have a site the first day either. Monday is all day both classes Tuesday is either your clinical (all day) or your lab (1/2day either am or pm) Wednesday is funds in the afternoon Thursday is either your clinical (all day) or your lab (1/2day either am or pm) Friday is pharm in the am The schedule might change a lil since they are using the new campus on Callahan. Last quarter it was Funds 1-5 Pharm 9-12 Clinical 6:30-2:30 but it matters who you have you might be there way after or leave way before.
