Hi was just reading this thread . Would someone inform me exactly what the CSUN program is? It seems interesting but do you need to have a Bachelor degree to apply? I already did prerequisites at Pierce, but retook Microbiology, Physio, & mostly C. I'm currently a CNA WITH 4years of experience. My main goal is to become RN though with these grades im not sure if I'll make it to a RN program. I'm not sure if I should do LVN first and then RN? any advice or any other healthcare career similar Im taking my last class to obtain my Associate degree in science, but not sure what to do with it. I really need career advice.

In the valley, meaning CA most hospitals got rid of LVNS. The times my granpa woukd get sick I would be wih him at the hospital and would ask career advice. Most nurses would tell me that their hospital didn't hire no more LVNs. Im also trying to figure out which career path to go. I'm currently a CNA at a Health and Rehab Center and I see that they do hire LVNs and RNs, sometimes the LVNs that have awhile working there are put as desk nurse like supervisors.

That I know of there's no Community College close to me that offers a LVN program, specially at a low cost.

Thank you for the replies. What are some study methods yoy recommend, so I can improve? I think I didn't do that good because I started right from high school at 17yr The summer session. I wanted to be a RN, but didnt take the studying serious I was more focused on working to have some money to help my parents. Im a CNA now with 1 1/2 of experience. Im 24 years old& have a 1 month old baby, but I would love to go back to school I actually miss studying. I live around LA, CA where everything is pricy. I've researched and most are around the price of $20,000-30,00 for LVN Program. I really want to get serious about my career now & do something about it. I just need some advice/guidence to get there.

I've wanted to be a RN ,but with these grades im not sure if ill get in. I also feel I don't remember my Physiology . I stopped going to school because I finished the prerequisites, but never applied for RN programs. I feel like I won't get in. Prerequisites grades: Anatomy C I took Physiology got C & re took it hoping to get a better grade, but ended up with a c micro first time got a D & re took it got a B chemistry C Im thinking, of Respiratory Therapist now in which I have more chances of getting in. I get to obtain an AA, BECAUSE I was also thinking LVN. PLAN A: RT I will just need to take Rt2 & Physics I can apply to program before Fall '15 ends $5,000 aprx. At LAVC. 2yrs I get a AA PLAN B: LVN Apply to a new school tuition aprx $25,000-30,000. 1 1/2yr I don't get a Degree just License RN Very competitive, waiting list get my dream career. My AA . Price not sure If I become RT how can I advance later to a Bachelors Degree? Or Would it help in anyway to go from RT to RN? ANY ADVICE. ..

Thank you so much for all the information. The school seems very interesting and I would also like to do the part time course.. For right now though I will have to postpone LVn school, because I'm pregnant . I'm wondering now if there's any course I can start taking online, or what do you learn at the beginning, and what books can I start reading?

Congrats! which school are you planning to attend? HOw come some people tend to wait 2years to get into a Nursing Program? Do you know how many times you can take the TEAS Exam ?

Congrats !!! Can I ask how you guys did on your A&P & Micro grades ? I already took all the Prereq's, but still thinking if i should do a LVN Program or The RN... the thing that's stopping me is that I didn't do good on the Sciences, so if i apply into a RN Program at a Community College I feel like I'm going to be on a waiting list for awhile, specially i hear people say about 2years. How long did it take you guys to get into the Program? Any advice I would appreciate it, thanks.

I'm aware that these schools are over priced, but I don't know if you remember my other post... I already did all my RN Prereq's, but mostly got C's in my Sciences . Therefore, I'm thinking of the LVN path at the moment and then do a Bridge program to LVN. I should research on Accredited LVN programs in adult education center's. What do you mean b the ROP Program? ok, so tuition is high! Regarding the school experience, or any of the above questions how are these schools. Do you know any good websites to apply for Scholarships?

I'm looking into LVN Schools around the Valley. I'm interested in knowing: what students experience was at the school? how teachers are? tuition and wha type of financial assistance is offered? If you get a loan by when do you have to pay it? Where are clinicals done at? etc. Just the overall experience of the Program & testing. LVN Schools I'm interested are: 1. Annenberg School of Nursing 2.California Career College 3. Casa Loma College 4.College of Nursing & Technology 5.Marian College Which one should I consider 1st, 2nd,3rd option? and any other questions that come along..thank you very much

i've read your post, I'm curious as to which LVN School you attended. I'm in the same boat as you shopping around to see which LVN schools are good? Hopefully you passed!

ou know what I plan to do get info from LVN schools and also take the 2 classes at a Community College that I need to transfer to a CSU once i become a RN. Once I graduate from LVN do a bridge program to RN, and one day get my BSN. Those are my plans so far. I just ask to get some different tips by people. I hope I make the best decisions.

It's rewarding being a CNA , because you are the one who spends most of the time with the patients. The LVNs and RNs don't get that direct contact with the patient. It's a great experience if you want to advance in your Nursing Career. working as a CNA has helped gain experience and has made me think of advancing far in nursing. CNA's do heavy work, lifting the patients with the mechanical lift, pass the food trays to the patients & assist the feeders, get patients up, do their beds and make sure the linen is clean. assist them in changing their diapers, brushing teeth, shaving, showers/bed bath. I work morning shift at a Rehab Center 7-3 sometimes you have to be in a rush because the patient has to go to Physical Therapy, so you get frustrated. We get from 7 to 9 patients in the morning shift. 3-11pm Shift get around 14 patients, Its not busy like in the morning, but you also have to shower. You don't have to be in a rush because the patients are already up on their wheel chair. You assist the patients get undress and putting their night gown on, do your rounds to change diapers , and just past dinner out. 11pm-7am they get around 16 patients,but don't no much of their experience. It must be difficult to stay awake. I do believe we CNA's don't get paid enough for all the work we do, but if you love helping people you get a joy out of it. Helping people is the best thing because you get that feeling of satisfaction and it helps to advance in your nursing career.

The LVN schools come out. I've searched on Google and a lot come out depending on the area you're located at.

You don't have to be a LVN. You can start taking the RN prerequisites at a Community College, but make sure to do great in your Sciences classes.

Yes, I thought about buying a new car wouldn't be the best idea. I'm not making justifications for a new car I just wanted to know what the best decision was. I get to work in the bus, so gotta be waking up extra early. Anyway, the next step is just to look at a used car that works good and would save me money and stress. I'm aware that getting into Nursing Programs is diffucult, but what would be the best option into getting into a a LVN to rn program? Obviously, if I had any debt I wouldn't be thinking of financing a new car, or schools. I had WCU in mind just because it would take me around 4 yrs to get the BSN. My friend graduated from there and found a job in less than 6months, but then everyone has their own personal problems going on. I know nothing in life is easy, but I'm willing to take up the challenges . I appreciate the tips/ advice thanks. Why do you think people end up going to WCU to get their BSN ?

what school are you referring too? How long might it take up to get into a RN program at a Community College? I decided to work and save right now, and later buy a nice used car. I will contact the schools, but I just want to hear what people have experienced and what they suggest I do.

I'm a little confused. So the grades I have right now on my pre-reqs wouldn't help get into an RN Program faster?

I'm Confused. If I apply dirctly to a ADN program I have to knoe the A&P already, right? or do they offer the courses again in the Program? please help Congrats to you for the hard work you've been doing and not giving up. Inspires me. Are you able to work full time and go to Nursing School?

Did you repeat your Sciences courses? If i apply to a ADN program I would have to know the ANatomy and Physio right? I feel that since i didn't do good in those classes i should go to the LVn route... DO you mind me asking what school you got into?

Thank you. Well you're not putting me down. i appreciate the advice. Like I've mentioned above I've had some troubles going on, so I feel that I'm ready to learn better. I've known people that did worse at school than me, and they ended up going to LVN School and graduated. Therefore, if they can do it so can I. I just gotta figure out where to start. Yes, you're right about going to a Private. i just thought about it because would be about 3yrs to get a BSN, but then what if I don't pass the classes i would end up with loans.

Thank You, well I feel that back then I did want to be a Nurse but wouldn't focus that much. Now that I am older and have worked as a CNA I've seen what real nurses get to do, and the responsibilities with the patients. I've had my grandpa at the Hospital due to COPD, I've stayed nights with him and observed what the Nurses get to do and I would love to learn how to do it and help people. I feel I'm ready to learn better this time. Once I finish a LVN program , would i also have to be on a waiting list or do I have a greater chance of getting into an RN program?

Thank you. I guess LVn route would be the best option and then do a Bridge Program. I will study way more and better, than I did before. I see myself different than back then. How long as it taken you for the ADN route?
