Jefferson State Community College Fall 2015 Applicants
I do not work. I would say the majority of the people in the program do work though. I have 2 kids, so that's why I chose part time. I would say it's very doable to work. Currently, We only have class once a week plus clinicals (this semester there are 6 and a weekend of mental health)

Good luck you guys! Your TEAS scores sound awesome. I was accepted into the night and weekend program with an 81.3%. I graduate in the fall. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. It's a challenging program, but I feel it's worth it! :)

Lawson State Nursing Program
Really? I know a girl who went to Herzing who can't pass her nclex after multiple tries. I'm not knocking technical schools, they are good for certain majors. I'm just not sure it's worth it to go there if you can't pass the nclex. Please inform me if I'm wrong :)

Applying to Jeff State CC night/weekend program
I believe it was before you start clinicals. I had a friend who got health insurance at the end of December. You will hear more about it in orientation, I'm sure :)

Applying to Jeff State CC night/weekend program
The majority of clinicals are 630-1230 Saturday and Sunday. There was an occasional group that met on a weekday (maybe Wednesday? I don't remember) from about 3-9 (I'm not sure of exact times). They start the second semester, and you will have 6 of them that semester. :)

Oh wow!! You got an A? Any tips on how to prepare for his tests? Does he test much different from the teacher I have now? I heard he uses a different book to lecture from and won't tell anyone what it is, any truth to that?

Yeah summer classes seem intense and fast paced. Really? He's not that bad? I heard the class was crying after they received the first test back. Any truth to that?

Applying to Jeff State CC night/weekend program
We have a test every single week, but we are only there once a week (most weeks). We've had 2 tests so far. It seems faster paced, but it's not bad. Most of the students in my class are doing better in this class than they did the others. I'm nervous about med-surg this Fall though; it's hard having to change instructors when you've had the same ones for the past year. I've also heard he's very tough (I don't mind a challenge, I just hope he's fair). You probably won't have him though :)

Hey you guys!!! Good luck! You should be hearing soon! I'm in the part time program, and I just started my 3rd semester. Y'all are going to love your teachers the first year! They are challenging but very nice. Once you get the hang of nclex questions, the class becomes easier. Again, good luck! :)

Graduates of Previous Jeff State-Shelby Campus Cohorts...please advise!
I have to add that I'm in the n/w program, and I love it so far! Granted, I haven't made it to med-surg yet. I hear that's the hardest class for the n/w program. It isn't an easy program, but the instructors are encouraging! Good luck!

Jeff State Fall 2014 Hopefuls
Last year the cutoff for night and weekend was about 184, or at least that's the lowest score I heard from my friends. I had about the same as you. I think you stand a very good chance of getting in. Good luck!

Jeff State Fall 2014 Hopefuls
I used the TEAS book to study a day before, and I made an 81.3%. Not sure if that's any good, but it was good enough to get me into the part time program last year. Good luck!

HESI Pharmacology
That is awesome! I just took the pharmacology one, and it was worth 5% of our grade. I made an 1189, I was happy with that.

Good luck you guys! I'm in my first semester at Shelby, and it is tough. It is very much worth it though!

Jeff State Fall 2013 hopefuls
Yeah, but it will be worth it! I'm not going to lie, I learn most things by self study anyway

Me too! Dosage calculations are fun! Katty4982, have I spoke to you in class? Do you know which one I am? I'm tall, brunette, and pale (ha I have no idea how to describe myself). It's such a big class!

I'm too excited to be stressed out lol. This is the kind of stuff I enjoy reading about anyway. I know they say its going to be hard, but I'm ready! I like a little competition. What do you think?

okay, good! I purchased it. I've purchased every book except the health and physical assessment pocket book. Since I purchased the main book, will I really need the pocket book?

Jeff State Spring 2014 Hopefuls
I didn't use McGraw Hills study guide at all, so I don't know how helpful it is. I looked at the reviews and decided to purchase ATIs study guide. Unless you have problems with math, reading, or English, I recommend focusing on the science portion of the Teas. The science was very broad and covered a lot.

Yes! I have already watched a couple health assessment videos, began reading the health assessment book, and worked on dosage calculations! I figure since I'm out of school now, it's time to get ahead. :)
