I will be starting my journey as a DNP student at Baylor University on May 6, 2019! I was looking for forums with other students but there wasn't one so I decided to start one. I am ecstatic and terrified to begin this step of my nursing journey and I would to meet my new classmates. I have wanted to deliver babies for as long as I can remember. I worked as a doula before becoming a nurse and reproductive health is my passion. I look forward to meeting you!

I took the NCLEX at 2pm on 7/31. I finished in just under an hour @ 75 questions. I felt like I'd failed and wanted to vomit. I did the PVT (of course) and got the good pop up. I spent the rest of the searching for myself and classmates on the BON because I needed to do something! At 8:30 this morning I checked my name again, just for ***** and giggles, and it was there! My beautiful license number less than 24 hrs after completing my exam! About the exam: The questions were disorienting more than they were difficult and I had to convince myself to stop trying to gauge if they were getting harder or easier, it isn't possible. I had maybe 5 pharm questions, a handful of OB questions and A LOT of priority questions. I felt like 1/2 of the test was SATA. I was a decent student, graduated with a B average. I used ATI and Uworld primarily with a little Saunders mixed in for variety. Uworld was an invaluable resource. The format was very similar and the rationales are excellent. Read the rationale, understand the rationale, become the rationale. Even if you get the question right, READ THE RATIONALE. I studied hardcore 8hrs/day for about 3 weeks and did thousands of questions. Now I never have to take it again! Tips for future testers: it is more about the way you answer questions than it is really knowing the content. If you have 4 options and 3 are similar, pick the one that doesn't belong. With priority questions pick the acute patient over the chronic 1 and always imagine worst case scenario. Good luck future nurses!!!

I understand exactly what you're saying. I think ppl are under the impression that you falsified the PT's med record. I think calling the HR dept of a few hospitals will be a good indicator. I also think the amount of time that will have passed between when the incident occurred and when you'll be applying as a nurse will play significant role. Another important factor will be the amount of time you'd worked as an LPN at the time of the incident. It would look better if it happened when you were just starting out. Good luck!

Your post regarding her education only spoke to the NP program but she clearly had to obtain a BSN first and that wasn't tailored to working students. Just a thought.

Have you decided which school you'll attend? I interviewed with Holy Name this morning and feel, cautiously, optimistic. If admitted I'll be starting this Fall as well.

Hi! I just interviewed this morning. I am so excited to see some other people who have applied to this school. I did read that getting an interview is an excellent sign for acceptance and was told that I should hear a response in 2 weeks at most. During my interview she had me fill out background check paperwork, gave me a curriculum plan and told me what I would/wouldn't need to take based on my prereqs, and other program specific information. What was your interview like?

I am currently in the process of applying now. Are you starting this Summer or in the Fall? I am also very interested in the program, and hope this thread proves helpful. Congrats on your acceptance, I hope to have mine soon.

I knoooow. Every Monday and Wednesday night I have butterflies then wake up and still there's nothing. Maybe Thursday. :)

I understand. Nyu is definitely my too choice. I just feel more comfortable now that I have secondary options. I just don't want to waste anymore time.

They don't have nursing but (if I don't get in) I can get a BS in health management or something and apply as an ABSN that way it won't be much time lost at all. Yea her letter made me sad and nervous. I just want to be in already but as it gets closer to the end I am trying to be realistic and have another plan. Just hope I don't need it lol!

How exciting! I'm still waiting to hear back. I thought for sure I'd have something this morning. I have decided to proceed with my LIU application just in case. On the other thread a girl posted her rejection letter and it mentioned a Paul McGhee division of NYU. From what I gather it isn't as competitive so that might be a viable back-up plan to my back-up plan. Have you heard anything?

Well I'd rather wait for a yes than get a quick no lol. I understand though, I am beyond antsy. I have an older brother and an older sister both married with children.

Really? Everyone I've talked has been super friendly and helpful. I had to call ***** due to the transcript shenanigans. Yea I'm sure you moving so far away isn't their number one choice. Do you have siblings? I am so jumbled. I've literally never wanted anything his badly.

The cost is definitely steep but I look at the whole experience of living in NYC and living my dream. That's priceless to me. Your GPA was a lot higher than mine as well so I feel like it balances out. When I spoke to the woman earlier I was able to make her laugh a few times so hopefully she'll take those good feelings with her when/if she reads my application lol

Oh I almost forgot, she did confirm that transfer decisions also went out on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight! It's so hard because I keep going back and forth between feeling confident that I am a strong applicant and believing all roads lead to NYU and being nervous and thinking about the 'what-if' and disappointment of not getting in.
