  1. I just got hired to work in an Observation Unit. I didn't know what kind of unit it was until the nurse mgr explained it to me. The observation unit in that hospital is not attached to the ED and is in a completely different floor.
  2. Don't know if this post is still active. Any info on how often Navy reserve nurses get deployed and for how long? I also know it probably varies by specialty.
  3. Hi , Im also in the same boat as you but somewhat different. I'm in my last semester of nursing school (BSN) and was also considering the Navy Reserves in the Nurse Corps. I actually spoke to a medical recruiter here in NJ and he was a NP too. He basically told me that I should focus on having a high GPA and once I had graduated to call him up to speak in person. I told me that I can join as a new grad, but I'll probably find out more once I se him in person.
  4. good luck everyone :)
  5. Just wanted to see if this thread is still active. Basically my question is about the length of the contract for an officer position as a Navy nurse in the reserve. I have heard that it is 4 reserve + 4 IRR and other places that says 6 reserve + 2IRR. If anyone has more info please let me know. Thanks
  6. Just a few answers to your questions. 1. You dont need hospital work or volunteer experience. It is a plus to have it though.I didnt have any hospital experience either when I applied. 2. The $500 deposit is after you are officially accepted by NJCU. And they dont offer any financial assistance on that. You might have to get a public or private loan. 3. You need to have a minimum 80% on the HESI exam. The higher the score, the better chance you have. Hope this helps
  7. Hey all. I received my acceptance letter 2 days ago!! :) for Jersey City
  8. I submitted my application on the 11th of Feb. and about 1 week later my transcripts were verified. However, I did send in my transcripts to NursingCAS about months beforehand.
  9. So my transcripts were verified as of Friday. I guess now it's a waiting game; does anybody know around when we will find out if we are accepted. I'm applying to Jersey City.
  10. Hello everyone, Submitted my application on Feb 12th. Got a 93 overall on the HESI. The only thing that I think might hinder me is my GPA from my BS degree. I believe it was either 2.8 or 2.9 Hopefully I do get accepted. Good luck to all!!
