  1. Doximity has a salary map that I've found helpful. It provides est. compensation and average home price per county.
  2. This is not necessarily a bad thing. I've been a nurse for five years with most of that time spent in the PACU but I do have adult and peds ICU experience as well. The nurses I work with never stop to impress me every day with their exceptional skills and knowledge. I think of this as a good thing because I can learn so much from them. Also, look at it from the perspective that when your patient starts to deteriorate it's much better to be surrounded by amazing nurses than the opposite. As long as you feel as though you are providing safe care to your patients I would not worry about finding another unit to work it. If you want to increase your skill or knowledge base talk to your manager to see if there are any classes you can take. Are you CPAN certified? This is another option.

I would check with the manager to see why it is required that you be able to be there within 30 minutes. Where I work, a large academic trauma hospital, PACU nurses can be called in anytime the OR gets busy. The PACU is staffed 24/7 but if the OR gets busy we will have to call staff in. There are different factors that affect the volume of the PACU. The OR is not always able to know exactly when their cases will come out and we don't always know how long it will take patients to recover therefore if we have a few patients that are taking a while to recover sitting in the PACU and we unexpectedly have mutiple cases all closing at the same time we might have to call someone in and need them to be there quickly. I hope that helps.
