  1. The driver's license should not be an issue. On fafsa, you will put your current living conditions. The financial aspect is tough - I live with my parents still and I work. Unfortunately, I was not granted and scholarships. I am paying for school with a federal loan and a personal loan that I had to take out.
  2. Hi there, congrats on your acceptance! I attend the Addison campus and I have been there for about a year. What do you mean by physical exam? If you're talking about your required physical, that is something that you do on your own. There is a drug test that is required, and they will let you know where you can go to do that. There are a number of facilities. I went to Concentra in Bloomingdale on Army Trail. I took a majority of my pre reqs at COD, but I still had to take microbiology and chemistry at Chamberlain through Devry. The classes are pretty easy. The instructors know that everyone just wants to breeze through so they can take their nursing courses. Let me know if you need more help. Good luck!
  3. Hi there, If you are allowed to wear white gym shoes, I would highly recommend a pair of Nike Shox. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. The lift at the heel gives my back great support. I have 12 hour clinicals, and my feet and back would be a mess without my Shox! Good luck!
  4. I am in med surg II right now. My course is 8 weeks long. I find that when I write something down, it sticks in my head. I handwrite my own study guides then read them over a few times and I can usually remember the information. Med surg is so tough. I can't wait until it is over! Good luck!

I currently work and go to nursing school. Luckily, I'm a bank teller and I don't have to work past 7:30 pm, so I have my evenings to study. The downside is that I usually have to run straight from school to work during the day. I am exhausted by the time I get to work, but I cannot afford to not have a job. I always bring my study materials with me to work so I can study during downtime when there are no customers. It takes a lot of energy, but it certainly can be done.
  6. My very first clinical rotation was at a nursing home. After that, so far they have all been in hospitals.
  7. Hi, I currently attend Chamberlain in Addison, IL. I am taking Med Surg (Adult Health) II and Pharmacology II currently. I have to say that Chamberlain offers an overall great experience. I won't sugarcoat it and say it's easy, because it's not. If you work hard and put effort into your studies, you will achieve great results. There is no way to be successful if you don't plan on buckling down and sacrificing some of your social life. Good luck to the new students! Work hard!
