Cancelling Federal Perkins Loans
I just read online that anyone with a Federal Perkins loan can get it cancelled if working as a full time nurse. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone know the stipulations of this? I tried looking more in to it online but haven't found much.

UPenn Grad Programs/ Tuition Remission
Hi everyone! I've heard that if you work at a UPenn hospital they offer tuition remission if you go to grad school there. Does anyone know if it's full tuition or only partial? Are there different programs for nurses compared to regular employees? Or do certain programs offer a full ride? UPenn obviously has an excellent reputation but I've heard it can also be a great deal for grad school. Any info from current, past, or future students would be welcomed.

Best Hospitals in Philadelphia for a New Grad
I was wondering if there was any input about the best hospitals for new grads (BSN) to attempt to work at in Philadelphia? Is there a certain hospital which new nurses should strive to find employment at? Which have nurse residency programs? Which offer the best working conditions for nurses? Best pay? Benefits? Tuition reimbursement or special program for going to grad school? I understand the job market is still bad and there are a lot of nursing schools in Philly, but what hospitals would be the ideal hospitals to work at after graduation?

Is this job (nurse anesthetist) really as good as Im reading or no?
Looking at CRNA programs, part of the curriculum is doing a residency. Does anyone know if that is a paid residency like what physicians have? Or is it normally for no money, just credit and experience? I'm just trying to understand if there is any way to make money while in a CRNA program.

Best men's watch for male nurses
Hey everyone. I'm starting nursing school next month and am looking for a cheap watch that's good for when I'm in the hospital. I've seen people mention military time is useful, plastic bands and water resistant so it can't be thrown in the washing machine if it gets dirty. Anyone out there who is in school or working have any suggestions? Thanks

Travel Nurse Overview
Can someone please give me an overview of what travel nursing is like? I'm entering nursing school this fall and I have heard people talk about eventually getting in to travel nursing. I understand that you are physically relocating to work at a new facility for a certain amount of time, but do people do this as a full time career? Or is travel nursing something to supplement your full time job with extra income?

New Grad Hospital vs. Community Health Clinic
Hi all. I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on a new grad starting at a hospital compared to starting at a community health clinic? What are the advantages/ disadvantages to each? What are the skills you would learn at one that you may not learn at the other? I would assume most clinics would be primary care in nature, but what could an RN do at a health clinic? Is the salary that different? I know any job in this market is a good job, but is going to a clinic before a hospital career suicide when trying to find another job?

2012-2013 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Application
For the people who won this award. Any of you in an accelerated program, did you graduate already? Have you found a job? What has your experience been like with this scholarship? Anyone have info on job prospects in the NY area that fit the Tier 1 criteria?

HRSA Nurse Corps Pros/Cons
Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone out there had been awarded the HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship. If so, what are your thoughts on how it helped you advance in your career? I had read some people say it severely limited their job opportunities and is putting a damper on their future career goals. Others say it was benefical. If anyone has some advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Is there anyone who has received the HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship in the past? If so what did you think of it? Was it worth it? Did you miss opportunities you might have otherwise been open to? Anyone specifically from the NY Metro area?

Is NYU's nursing program even good?
Purdue725 or cmr4188: I'm starting NYU's accelerated BSN this fall and had some questions regarding the program. What did you think of the simulation lab? And did the school offer services or help you in finding a job in any way?

NYU ABSN Spring 2013
I don't know if anyone who was accepted for the Spring 2013 class and attended it still reads this thread, but if you do, how did you like your first semester? What did you think of the program? Pros/Cons?

NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry
Has anyone gotten their financial aid package yet? I called financial aid and they said they haven't started awarding financial aid for people in the accelerated program yet and will be doing it within the next three weeks. However I have a week to accept my admissions decision so I would have to accept it before I would know if I even got in, or have to try to get an extension on my deadline. Just wondering if anyone else was in the same situation?

NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry
Hey everyone. So have any of you actually spoken with a student who went through the accelerated program? I'm still on the fence on whether or not to accept my acceptance offer and was hoping to get some insight from current students if the program was worth it. NYU was the only program I applied for that started in the Fall so my other option would be to wait and apply to programs that start in May like Columbia or Stony Brook. I was wondering if people thought spending the money on NYU was worth it and paid of with a job or what not in the end or helped them get in to NP programs.

NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry
@Celticcub, do you know what the NYUCN scholarship is for? I'm trying to figure out if the school gives out any scholarship money. I checked their website and they seem to only have 1 scholarship you have to apply for that accelerated bsn students can apply for. I know Columbia automatically gives each student a scholarship that ranges from 5k-25k to make the program a little more affordable.

NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry
Just got an acceptance packet in the mail. It said FAFSA had to be filed by February 15th. Did anyone file after the 15th and still get financial aid from the school? I like that NYU starts in the Fall, but the price is scary, and I haven't heard many people getting any kind of money.

NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry
Has anyone heard anything about if they give scholarships? I heard NYU doesn't give any money at all. I did the math and with tuition and fees alone it seems to come out to $86k. That seems like a hefty price for the year. I hope they give out some kind of scholarship money because once you add living expenses and other related costs for school we're looking at over 100k!

NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry
Hey everyone This is my first time posting on here so I guess I'll just give the information everyone was looking for. I got my acceptance email this morning. I have an interdisciplinary bachelors degree and masters degree in the sciences. Lower undergrad GPA but almost a 4.0 in grad school. I had volunteered in a variety of areas in a hospital and also have volunteer experience in public health. I applied about a week after the "priority" deadline. I have 4 prereqs that I'm taking over the summer: A&P I and II, Microbio, and Dev psych. I know that's almost half the prereqs that I haven't taken but I had previously taken other courses in physiology, immunology, various psychology courses in addition to a plethora of other science courses for my undergrad and grad degree, so I feel they were able to extrapolate from my previous classes and grades how I would do in the remaining prereqs. Hope that gives other people the insight they were looking for.
