  1. it starts at the end of August.
  2. Honestly.... I thought for sure I was tanked after that test. Not sure what saved me, but I did feel fairly confident after the panels and the writing assignment.
  3. I just tried searching for your FB page, didn’t come up!
  4. Also, I had two coworkers who received invitations to interview but declined for various reasons!
  5. Anyone who says that mandated ratios don't work in California are LYING to you! Most likely a ploy from hospital administrations who are fearing the costs of having to recruit and hire additional staff should a mandated ratio law pass. Ive been an RN in CA for 5 years, and while I don't know what it would be like to work in a state without ratios I have no desire to find out! I do remember when the law passed here (prior to me becoming an RN), hospitals were handing out multi-thousand dollar hiring bonuses in order to be in compliance. I suspect that this is what hospitals fighting against this are fearing.
  6. Awesome! Not 100%, but I'm glad that we received so much info on how to prep and what to expect. Good luck Thursday!
  7. I JUST found this thread, hope everyone's interviews have gone well thus far! Mine is on Thursday, I'm feeling nervous but excited!
  8. Congratulations @Newbie!
  9. @Sophia- sorry to hear =[. I was a SU, and received a job offer this week to join the MICU. Needless to say, I am beyond thrilled. I feel like I won the lottery! There were two other new grads hired into the unit, but I don't know if they were super users. Best of luck to those who are still waiting to hear back!
  10. Okay well I got my rejection email. Good luck to everyone who makes it!
  11. Congrats SandyMickey! I still havnt heard anything back from my second interview! Wonder what's taking them so long!
  12. Have you ever thought about working for a health insurance company? There is a very large corporate insurance company near where I live that hires experienced RN's for 9-5 type office jobs. I'm not sure exactly what the job entails, but I would venture to guess it involves reviewing medical records/cases. There was even a nursing student in the cohort that graduated before me that works for this particular insurance company, and they paid for her entire tuition in order for her to work for them as an RN. Just thought I'd throw that suggestion out there for ya since I hadn't seen anyone else mention it yet!
  13. Mine was about 20 minutes and went really well. The manager I interviewed with didn't seem too into the questions on the list, and ended up spending most of the time talking about what her unit was like. I actually misheard the first question she asked me, and ended up rambling on about my interests and passions, which actually turned out to be a good thing because it lead to a conversation about our shared interests within nursing! Hopefully we will all find out soon that we've been hired!
  14. Good luck tomorrow everyone! My interview is at 9am, I cant wait to get it over with!
  15. @alwayshavefaith - I just saw your PM, I tried responding but am unable to due to site rules. If you PM me your email address I will send you my reply. I'm glad you contacted me, I thought I was the only one in this position!
  16. Newbie- From looking at the thread from last year, it seems that each unit does it's own thing. So it may be that you will only have to do the one interview! Good luck either way!
  17. You apply to the residency program, then give your top 3 unit choices within the application. I have heard in the past that the CTICU is extremely competitive, but I don't know if that is actually the case.
  18. I interviewed with the director of the MICU on Tuesday. He was also incredibly nice and easy to talk to, and my interview couldn't have gone better! He let me know on the spot that he wanted me to come back for a second interview at the end of the month. I sent him a quick thank you email yesterday, and he responded immediately confirming that he would be in touch to let me know the details of the second (panel, yikes!) interview. I also was told that the start date would be somewhere at the end of May, and that different units may start at different days within a couple weeks of each other.
  19. Got my email yesterday for an interview with the MICU unit director... I'm so nervous/excited!
  20. Hi everyone, I also interviewed today. So many clinical behavioral questions! I was thrown off at the beginning of my interview because my interviewer asked me why she did not have information about what clinicals I've done... which was not required to be included, and I dont include on my resume because it should be implied that as a graduate nurse I have completed all required clinical courses (I did include my preceptorship clinical rotation). There was also some weirdness surrounding which area I was interested in. I did say that critical care was my first choice, knowing full well that I would be beginning in med-surg, and I made sure to acknowledge that this was a long term goal. At the end of my interview, I feel like I was penalized for saying a specialty area. Finally, the interviewer told me that all of the interviewers today are nurse educators, and that the next step if we are chosen to go on in the process is an interview with the managers. What! I thought today was the "Manager Interview Event"... Sorry for venting, I just dont know how to feel about today. Hope everyone else had a better experience!
