  1. If you have the time, why not? Nurses are not meant to just care for the physical/medical well-being, but the emotional and spiritual well-being as well.
  2. I agree with everyone else. Enjoy your break! But micro is definitely different from A&P.
  3. I think doctors tend to view nurses as "friends/colleagues/whatever" rather than their patients. What he said was unbelievably wrong. He could have phrased it much more professionally.
  4. My school does a point system to invite you to test for the Kaplan. You're accepted based on your Kaplan score. My GPA was a 3.75 and Kaplan was an 87.
  5. I am almost 30. I have 3 kids and a husband. My son has Asperger's syndrome. I can honestly say that I am crazy busy. But it is manageable if you want it and put your mind to it. It is a lot of studying and hard work. But it is possible. =)
  6. My personal suggestions are getting comfortable with Maslow's Hierarchy and organizing your life, study area, etc., but also take the time to do things you enjoy! Nursing school can be all consuming.
  7. You do not know that you are going to fail! And with that mindset, you are setting yourself up to fail. You have to stay positive. Take a few minutes for yourself, and then start working section by section of your exam blueprint. Read the material you highlighted or find other websites that might be able to give you a more simple explanation on electrolytes.
  8. Holy moly! Hello violation city! I would definitely talk to her if you're on good terms. But if not, then you should report her. My school is very adamant about keeping your FB private, not posting pics of yourself or classmates in uniform, discussing your clinical, etc. I have a blog about my nursing school experience and NS in general, but I keep myself anonymous and never discuss classmates, clinical, instructors, and the like.
  9. My school doesn't require every pre-req to be taken. They do require A&P, Microbio, chemistry, nutrition, psych, and English. I went ahead and took all my pre-reqs so that I wouldn't have to worry about those classes during the program.
  10. I hate the way most nurses are portrayed on TV. Like Olivia on Grey's Anatomy. I do have to agree that Haleh was probably the most realistic.
  11. How does the school work? Is it based on GPA or priority points, then an entrance exam? Your GPA is awesome! Until then, retake some classes and reapply, along with applying to other schools.
  12. I think nursing is just like any other job/career choice. At times, you are really going to dislike it. Other times you are going to love. People tend to talk more about the dislikes. Why? Because it feels good to vent it all out. At least, that is how I view it.
  13. Personally, I would stay in. You already paid the money. Learn what you can and if you have to repeat next semester, at least you will know what to expect.
