  1. Monrovia :) What about you?
  2. no im starting in summer :) I got a phone call 3 days after my interview. I applied for fall though...like you I am starting sooner than expected but very excited :)
  3. In terms of incomplete classes they estimated my grade based on reports from professors of those classes. And since I was getting around 95-100% for those classes they just assumed that I was going to get an A. so I got full marks on the prereq GPA section. I was admitted before my final grades came out. Hope that helps :)
  4. wow that is so nice of you guys @happyperson2 !! I can tell its going to be an amazing program already with the great support past students are willing to give. I declined my csun spot for azusa pacific and cannot find students (apart from one student) willing to share their experience. You guys are very very lucky! :)
  5. nursing school
  6. it doesnt matter if you take the prereqs at community college even if you have a bachelors. the absn programs are quite picky with the prereqs. I had to retake all my classes except for one because my prereqs were done overseas and did not match perfectly with the course they require. Its annoying... but honestly because I have alreadt done similar classes and higher levels classes it made doing these classes in community college quite easy.
  7. I agree with Bucky...nothing the lab can make will be as good as anything artifically made. I would try and save any good natural teeth you have...these are priceless. If you get implants make sure you invest in a good specialist... so many horror stories on general dentist thinking they can do everything
  8. You will not be able to find fall 2014 FB group on your androids for some reason... I did manage to find it on my PC though... wonder why FB is making it so hard on us -_-
  9. the nursing program is a 2nd bachelors/entry masters program. The school provides us with a 7 week residency program after the BSN portion... honestly this is the only school ive applied to that ive seen offer this "clinical residency". Heres its description: " The clinical residency is an internship clinical experiential program designed as a collaborative partnership between the School of Nursing and selected community in-patient health care organizations. This residency is an intensive preceptored clinical experience planned to ease the role transition from a student nurse to a beginning professional nurse in an acute-care setting. In addition, it enhances the skill and practice knowledge of the student in preparation for the RN licensing examination"
  10. Whoops I mean the entire nursing program (which includes the 7 week residency) is $42,000. $20,000 difference in a nursing program is a lot.... but if people out there really think that a residency program helps get you a job then it may be worth it....especially in los angeles where there is apparently a 50% nurse unemployment rate (esp new grads:/) its a scarey thought thinking about being jobless for 6 months to 2 years after graduating... I havent started my nursing program yet. Trying to make my mind up between these two schools I have been accepted into :) congrats on your job offer! thats amazing :)
  11. Hi everyone, One school I am looking at has a 7 week clinical residency after the program Another program doesn't, but this means that the program is 7 weeks shorter I know the job market is really tough at the moment so I was wondering if doing a 7 week clinical residency will help me get a job? What are your thoughts? Thanks!

  13. I didn't get a time limit, I was told to take my time. But I hear other people having time limits... My prompt had nothing to do with nursing, it was basically about someone inspirational in my life (I'll leave it at that before someone beats me up on this forum haha), there is no right or wrong... and honestly, I do not know how important this prompt is because I had some terrible spelling errors (so use to using spell check, no spell check when its pen and paper!). They told me the point of the prompt was to make sure that people wrote their own personal statement, in the past people have written amazing personal statement/letters of intent, but then when they started the program the school realize they couldnt really write that well (opps!), so as long as you can string a cohesive sentence along I think you will be fine :)
  14. Can't find the group :/
  15. what caught me of gaurd was tge writing prompt... no one told me about this before hand and I was not mentally prepared for it!
  16. I interviewed in person with one person. The interview took about an hour. I got my prompt when I showed up to the interview.
  17. congrats!! :)
  18. Ek I am about to enter nursing school and these forums make me so nervous about graduating in so cal! Its good to know and be real about the job market situation though... too many unrealistic expectations out there!
  19. i think we all wonder when we are going to get into nursing school when we are taking our prereqs because its so competitive out there, so i complexity understand your anxiety! I wouldnt pay 30K to go to a private career college for an LVN program, I think it is too much and you will end up in so much debt. My method with my prereqs was to take my time so that I could do the best i can to ensure that I get A's. I think getting good grades is a great insurance policy for getting into a nursing program, so many people try and take all there prereqs at once and end up gettings C's... I would rather take my time and get good grades to ensure I get a spot in nursing school.
  20. aleong I am on the forums again and seeing you everywhere :) I do not know if you will get this message but its worth a try! I have been accepted into CSUN and APU for this year and I am trying to make my mind up about where to go. I know you went through the same dilemma last year (MSMC vs CSUN) and was wondering if you are happy with your decision with CSUN?
  21. Don't honestly know how this happen. I cringe at the thought of my interview. It went so so so badly!
  22. Got into Fall! But will be rejecting the offer so one more open space for you all! :) good luck!
  23. March 3rd and 4th I think
  24. me too!!!
  25. Hi Tina I think it was a couple of weeks after submitted my application until I was called for an interview. I got offered a spot about a week after my interview and I have heard of people who have been offered a spot at the end of the interview. I didn't really spend much time preparing for the interview, but I did spend a lot of time writing my personal statement... about 2 months or so. The interview is quite chilled so I wouldnt really stress over it, the writing sample is to see that you basically didnt get someone else to write the personal statement. Apparently people in the past have had others write their personal statements... What is awesome about APU is that they are honest with you and tell you where you stand... so you will basically find out if you have a good chance or not of getting in at your interview. I think the number one thing is to get your applications in early. I got mine in 1 month early. Because there is only a limited number of interview spots... and you must get an interview to have any chance of getting in. I think they reserve like 1 hour for each interview and the interviewer at Monrovia only did interviews on Wednesdays, so if you do the math there are not many interview spots available. Good luck to you :)
