Nursing Jobs in Aberdeenshire Scotland
Ps ARI are offering £8000 relocation fees to work there , the reason why they are short staffed is the cost of living , Aberdeen is an oil industry town , it is expensive to live there, i would not worry , once you get your licence transferred , you will get a job, i was there in April as a relative was having an op and they tried to get me to work there once they found out i was a nurse , i live in another area of Scotland.

Countries that will take American license (BSN)?
Yeah that sums it up!
-
Countries that will take American license (BSN)?
Yeah thats the latest thing that has been brought into force , it starts 2016 and we need 5 reflective study from different sources for revalidation of our licence.

Nurses in the UK cannot practice without a licence and that gets renewed yearly to which you have to make the requirements of working actively as a nurse for 450 hrs minimum under the NMC and have continuing education , you also have to have your ILS and soon there will be a portfolio to have as well of reflective study.

Moving to USA advice!!
Did you do a foundation year? If you did you may qualify! US are generalist trained however the clinical hours needed are not as much as the UK . I am an adult nurse and did peads , maternity (OBYN and GYN ) and mental health in my foundation year and had more than double , sometimes triple of what was required , however if it was a straight route children's nurse with no foundation year you will find this hard, you will have to do top up classes in a university over there , i believe these are hard to get!

American nurse looking abroad
In all honesty I think its terrible that they make english speaking countries sit this ielts test, however, how hard can it be if your first language is english?. I think its stupid to test this, but i dont think it would block a person from traveling to another country to work, i can imagine it would be annoying though. Those in other countries which english is not their 1st language pass this test in abundance. I dont know the ins and outs of this test nor what it entails , but I do know nurses from the UK that have moved to Australia and Canada. They must of been tested too?

American nurse looking abroad
Thats what i said , it appears that in nursing it isn't but doctors under the GMC are exempt! Its not fair! And i agree with you!

American nurse looking abroad
I checked it online and it appears that ielts exempt does not apply in nursing in the uk ! I'm shocked! Thats just ludicrious!

American nurse looking abroad
I dont believe the UK requires ielts for english speaking, especially not americans, i have met quite a lot of american nurses here in the UK. but Australia does require IELTS for english speakers, which is crazy! Also you could try the Republic of Ireland. I believe they take nurses outwith the EU. Good luck :)

Anyone Here Pay $200 Dollars Still Passed?
Thats true and only 17% in there 2nd attempt , guess i was fortunate :) In the uk we are taught more on the ward than in the classroom and whats in theory and in practice can be very different. However i loved learning the american way of nursing. I really enjoyed it. On my first attempt i never took kaplan or hurst and i failed but after reading and intensely studying for 8 weeks i passed :)

Anyone Here Pay $200 Dollars Still Passed?
I got at least the last 2 right that i can remember and the computer shut off at 106 or around about , they were very difficult questions, i did pass, i think everyone gets a minimum of 75 in that instant if the computer shut of after 75 and they got the last question wrong it would not indicate a fail! I believe if If you go above 75 q the computer has put you in the grey zone? You have not passed but you have not failed either , but if you continue to get questions right , the next question gets harder and you will come out of the grey zone and into the pass zone. If you go all the way to 265 the computer will look at the last 60 q and decide from that. There is also test questions that dont count so i imagine if you got them it is in the initial 75 q thats what i was led to think

Anyone Here Pay $200 Dollars Still Passed?
Good luck , when will you find out ? I know how this feels, i went through it myself 2x the first time they took my payment but i too was in hope as i did it practically a few hours after the test , but i did fail , the 2nd time i never did the PVT and i never slept for 2 days , thats the truth! When i found out i passed i was relieved and then went on a high so when i did finally sleep, i was knocked off for days! I know its a very stressful time not knowing for sure but i wish you all the best :)

nursing in the UK
The wages are not that bad if you think about it , Firstly in the nhs , they get 30% extra for nights and saturday and 60% for Sundays, also healthcare is free, nurses here get a lot of holidays and i don't feel disrespected at all in my job, i cant speak for other uk nurses tho, have you been over to england to visit ?

Pressing Assault Charges WITHOUT disclosing your full Name??
I would speak to your DON, report this incident in his notes so other nurses are guarded, do you have any injury? If you do take a photo. You say this patient has a very violent criminal history. If he gets off with this and nothing is reported anywhere and am not meaning pressing charges , just reporting it in his health notes or datix the event. As everyone says on here you cannot press charges anonymously, but you can report it somewhere i would imagine. Here we do datix and the patient does not know. But datix can be built up and used as evidence if something worse was to kick off. in the long run without anything being reported , it this could cause problems for another nurse. I can imagine this might be frightening for you but you need support from your work.

Pressing Assault Charges WITHOUT disclosing your full Name??
Oh wow thats terrible! Does the patient have capacity? I know in the UK that violence of any form towards a healthcare professional is not tolerated, and can carry a 5 year custodial sentence even if the person has mental health but was deemed to have capacity. I take it america is different, do you not datix or report assaults in your workplace as well?
