I was waitlisted #9 for spring 2014. I would say there is a strong likelihood of me getting in. Jstrawberry, I'm not sure about your position, but it does seen like most people are applying to other schools as well and I know a lot of people will not accept or will wind up making other plans. Don't give up hope!

Some schools don't use all of the courses you have taken to calculate your gpa. In addition, some schools won't take a repeated grade and will only use your original grade. You need to research the schools you are most interested to find out exactly what the requirements are. If the course will be computed in your gpa, and they will take your repeated grade, I say go for it since schools are so competitive these days. I wouldn't want a C on my record heading into applications.

They did say at the info meetings that you had to turn in each and every transcript for any class attended at any college, anywhere. It didn't matter if it was academic or not.

I would try to talk to them. Were you able to confirm if all of your transcripts were received by the due date? You can check what date they were received on the CLASS-web system.

If when you say "program rank" you are referring to the "Percentile Rank - Program" on your teas score report, and your percentile was 73, this means that 27% of test-takers in your "Program Type" (listed on your TEAS score report, ie BSN, ADN, etc) scored higher than you, and 72% of test-takers scored lower than you. This puts you in the 73rd percentile along with a bunch of other people nationwide. If you are trying to get into the "top 80" of applicants overall, the percentile ranking has nothing to do with your ranking to get into your school. They are two separate things. Whether or not you will make it into "the top 80" as you state depends on how your competitors did, and how you compare to them. However, if you meant that your school wants you to meet at least a percentile rank of 80 (some schools use such criteria, but not all), then you did not make it. At the 73rd percentile you would be at least 7 points away from meeting that standard. Does this help?

I still think you're in darned good shape - 97th percentile means only 3% of students scored higher than you!

I studied every day for two weeks. I did the entire official study guide from ATI cover to cover. Then, I did the two online practice tests from ATI the day before the exam to brush up on weak points. I thought the actual test was easier than the online practice tests, so I think that doing the online practice tests really prepares you well. I scored well (95%) but I tend to get As in school and test well generally. I definitely had to prepare and would not have gotten that high of a score without the prep.

I don't know exactly how they do the final sorting out of address v score. I would assume that ranking would take priority over location. So if Livermore is full, but we are still in the top 50, we would likely be accepted to Hayward.

I got a letter today...I made it into the top 120! Now I get to send in my TEAS scores. I'm so glad I got the test done already. I hope you got some good news in the mail today, ShareBear!

That would be a miracle if it actually happened! Now if only we could get the community colleges to do the same thing....

I think the second plan, to take the bio and nutrition together, would be a good compromise. Nutrition usually isn't a terribly challenging class at most schools and it pairs well with a "hard science". I was able to take my nutrition course online, if you can you should! Since you are new back to school you might be pretty stressed out taking three classes starting out. If you want A's and you are trying to take care of your family, you might not be able to take more than a couple of classes at the time, unless, of course, you are Wonder Woman (in which case, you go girl!)!

Do you think your poor grade is just due to your lack of time & energy to put into the class, or do you think your current professor is the problem? I would also try to poll your classmates about your various professor's reputations. Depending on your experience, sometimes a change of professor is just what you need. I took a W in Physio, I consider myself pretty smart but this guy was really driving me up the wall with his teaching & testing style. The next term I took it with a different professor and had a much better experience, and I felt like I was actually learning much more. However, maybe you already have the professor with the best reputation. Consider carefully, and utilize websites like "rate my professor", they are actually pretty helpful sometimes. Also, I would think that having the same professor for both lab and lecture would be the best way to go. Why make it harder on yourself trying to meet two different professor's standards for the same material?

I would take the W. Some schools subtract points for a W, but it usually won't impact your score as much as a D or F would. Some schools don't care about W's and it won't be considered a problem at all. As long as you don't have more than one or two W's on your record I think that would be much better overall than taking a D or F.

PS you need all these courses so they are all equally important. CSUEB also requires O-chem/Biochem if you have not already had it.
