Thats just plain stupidity, 4hrs training, who can honestly even think they have any training in meds in only 4hrs. It took me almost a year to become a CNA and a CMA or as people also say a CMT, takes almost 2 yrs. If you know for a fact that someone is passing drugs after only 4hrs training, then its your duty to report this,and if you dont then you are also as blind, but dont lump us all together. I've worked very hard for my CNA and got a GPA of 4.0, i take it very seriousely. I came to this web sight because i respect nurses very highly, but the way ive been bashed, and belittled, i think i may have made a mistake.

Its sad to see that alot of nurses on here have a holier then thow attitude, and the bit about 4hrs of training is a laugh. One of my best freinds is The house supervisor and she's the best nurse i have ever met, she started at the bottom and worked her way up years ago, she says everyone needs help. And even the housekeeoers at my job know what albuterol is, but we work as a full team relying on each other, we are all out for one purpose the patient or resident. I think that more people have to learn everyone needs help and yes even nurses can make bad mistakes, and its not just your life and job, its also the CMA's.

What do you mean about back ground, Being a CMA, is still going to school and learning, I am a CNA right this second and that doesnt make me unapropreaite, these are'nt people that they just grab off the street. The way i see it is that The RN's are afraid of someone trying to take their jobs, Being an RN these days is so much paper work that they dont have alot of connection with patients, and people that go into being a CMA still have the connection that they had as a CNA, thats why they want to be a CNA the conection, do you honestly think that hosp,or LTC facilities would have a person passing druggs if they had'nt been schooled for it? But you have your thoughts about it and your minds made up, Just dont close the door to any adjusting.

well thats a personal problem, but that also means you dont trust your team.

Ok, a word from the otherside, I am getting my CMA, and i live in a State were they have alwayed been used, The LPN's and RN's are free'd up to focuse on a patient that truely need extra care. There still is alot of things a CMA can not do, we are not trying to take anyones job, we just want to be able to help more then just being a CNA. Plus maybe RN's and LPN's wouldnt get burned out so fast if they were given a hand. But just my 2cents. The one thing that bothers me the most is that some of the comments about the CMA's make the CMA's sound like real idiots, so if i have a RN after my name that will give me more brains? Some people do regaurd some parts of the alphabit highly.

I knew i wanted to be a nurse,after i had aterriable thing happen in my life and i hated the way i amd the other patients were treated, . Its was like the patient was in their way and it was a crime to ask for help. For an example, i had a bullet lodged in my head and before i has brain surgery, i was in bed and had wet the bed, well my mother walked in and they has moved me out of the bed (which i was'nt to be moved) and mad because they had to change my bed. Now that was in 81 and alot has changed but the attitude some of them have is a digrace to the profession, but you will know. You have to learn before you can teach. Good luck :balloons:

Well im am just a CNA but my father always told me if you get in to big of a hurry, you'll make mistakes and in nurseing you can't afford mistakes. Age has nothing to do with it, you just have to decide yourself if your capiable, dont let someone else decide for you. All nurses that i have been associated with know more about whats going on then the Dr's do, Just know your Great :balloons:

Hi, I am planing to move back to Missouri soon after i get my Cna Cert. My kids live in Holden and i need to get closer, im in Iowa right now. Do you work in the Warrensbuge hospital? If so do you like the Hospital? Im looking for a place that i want to work till i retire or can no longer do my job. I find that the Docters can be rude to a female nurse and then turn around and be as nice as could be to a man standing behind them. . Oh well all i have to say is that when i was 21 i was abducted off the street in K.C. and taken to a park and shot 3 times in the face. Most of you are thinking she wouldnt be alive, but by the grace of God, all i ended up with (physical damage) is my face is paralyised on the right side. But if it wasnt for a Nurse and her CNA,i would be in and out of a coma. They found anouther bullet lodged in my brain. So you see thats why i always wanted to go into nursing, nurses are the most important part, they gave me my life with the help of God, so i could help others. . Thankyou, Working in the health feild setting but not nursing before, we were always told just to take what ever they said, like someone else said, people treat them all like Gods. They do put their pants on like all others!

Thats what i would like to know, evven though they are Doctors Or even the DON, they dont have any right to treat you so rude, and what can a person do?

Hi everyone, i live in Iowa right now and im planning to move back by my kids. Im 46 and just starting a nursing career. Ill be certified in may and want to go for my LPN. Some people say just to get my CMA, its faster and you also can work in DR's offices. I see so many places want RN's or LPN's , would it be better to get my LPN or should i just take the easy way and get my CMA? I want to be the best that i can be, but i dont want to jipp myself either. Also if anyone works for the Hospital in Warrensburge, tell me, is it a good place to work. I work for St Anthonys in Carroll Iowa, and if i didnt need to be near my kids, i would be their for life. I would tell anyone to work their. I know to well that nursing is one of the hardest jobs to do, im not blind to that and i know that there will be alot of downs, but if i can make of person smile, i have done a good job. Tell me your thoughts
