  1. When I was younger and had first started going to community college, I had no idea what I wanted to do! I didn’t take school very seriously and it reflected in my GPA. After realizing how much I was interested in the medical field and what it took to get into a good nursing school, I buckled down. I retook some courses and turned my C’s into A’s. I am now currently enrolled in nursing school and loving it. I start my second semester in a few weeks and couldn’t be more excited. I know it may sound tedious, time consuming and costly, but maybe retaking a couple of courses to beef up your GPA would help? If you’re determined and know for sure that this is truly what you want to do, then you can make it!
  2. One of my best friends graduated with his RN from the ECPI/MCI location in Newport News. He earned his BSN a year after graduating and is now currently enrolled in a nurse practitioner program. He has never once been looked down upon or ever questioned about his education from there. Like Nursing_Mamacita said, work hard and do your very best when at clinical sites and you shouldn’t have an issue!
  3. Has anyone gone through Sentara's RN to BSN program? I'm currently enrolled in an ADN program now, but am looking to go through their RN to BSN program after graduation and the NCLEX.
  4. @SarahStoddard14 I can’t send a PM yet, because I haven’t made 15 posts lol, but congratulations on being accepted!! Yes, I do live in Clarksville! My husband is stationed there as well. :) When I first started the program, I did not look forward to the drive there and back either, but honestly it’s really not that bad! We would always record our lectures, so what I would do is listen to them on my commute from Clarksville to Madisonville and vice versa (it definitely helped with understanding the material a bit better too!). So far, I LOVE the program! All the instructors are great and they really go out of their way to help their students in any way that they can. I’m not gonna lie, it’s going to be hard and there may be some days when you think to yourself, ‘what in the world did I get myself in to?!’, but it is SO worth it! I’m so excited to start second semester!! If you have any questions or need any advice at all, I will be happy to help! Do you have orientation on January 8th too? :)
  5. Oh, my gosh! I do remember you saying that! I was sitting in the front row with you, just on the other end of it lol. Today was definitely overwhelming. We’re literally going to be hitting the ground running this semester, but it’ll be all worth it! :) I can’t believe we have the same last name! That is too funny!
  6. I was looking for you too! I think we may have been sitting in the front row together before we all left for the day?! I was the one wearing the coral and white striped shirt with the black headband? Lol!
  7. Oh, my goodness, yes!! I bought all my books off of Amazon, except for our fundamentals of nursing bundle and nurse pak. I ordered those from the school bookstore, and the package literally weighed 30lbs!! I’m still waiting on two more books to arrive from Amazon. Here is what I have so far..
  8. Thank you for the reassurance Gina! Crazy that this time next week we’ll be in class! Maybe I’ll see you at orientation tomorrow?! :) Good luck Cortney!! Only 6 more days! Eeeeek!
  9. Congratulations on your acceptance!! You’re going to do great!
  10. That’s awesome! Congratulations on getting into the program! I am sooo nervous and excited too. I can’t wait for orientation on Wednesday. Hopefully it’ll help answer all our questions and calm some nerves! :) Have you always attended Madisonville? Before being accepted into RN program, I attended Hopkinsville, so I’m a little extra nervous about going to a new school :/
  11. Congratulations to all those who have been accepted into nursing school, and to all those who have graduated! I have orientation this coming Wednesday (August 14th), and start classes the Monday after next (August 19th)!! I agree with you all, time has literally felt as if it has been slowly creeping along this ENTIRE Summer... up until these last couple of weeks! So nervous and excited to start my ADN program! Best of luck to you all on your journey to becoming nurses! :)
  12. Just wanted to see if anyone else will be attending the Fall 2013 class? Seriously cannot wait to start the program! :) Hurry up August 19th!!
  13. I am 22, married, and about to start Registered Nursing School in 18 days!! :) Best of luck to you all!
  14. I understand that this is an older thread, but thank you so, so much for your helpful advice, Rzyzzy! After studying everything you described religiously, I managed to score a 90 on the math portion of the Hesi A2! I didn’t have any temperature conversion questions either, too weird!
