I passed my second time and used Hursts. :). I currently work at Brookhaven hospital as an RN!! I would never want to re-live that nclex experience. I'm so glad it's finally over. I occasionally pop into the threads to see how the new grads are making out. Hursts was GREAT!!! I looked at each video twice, and some I looked at three times. Wanted to add that!!! Good luck!! :)

I loved it. It helped me pass my second time. I wouldn't have gotten through the NCLEX without Hursts. :-). Highly recommend!!!

I hated Kaplan! Or I should say I hate it now. I failed my first time after using Kaplan as my main study resource. It didn't help and wasn't for me. The second time I used Hursts review, took a course called "ready to pass" and studied from their book, studied from a priority/delegation book (PDA by LaCharity), and nclex 3500. Study plan: I started with Hursts. I looked at 2-3 videos a day. Then I took the ready to pass class. It was only 4 days for 8 hours a day on-site in Hempstead, NY. You can goggle them. It's a great course and comes with a book that's only 184 pages long...and your bible for the NCLEX. I went through the entire book after the class ended. I then went back to Hursts and watched their videos again for a second time. Hursts videos are funny and not boring at all . As I was going through Hursts, and the ready to pass book I would stop at times to do questions from nclex 3500. I also purchased that PDA book by LaCharity for extra practice on "who do you see first questions". I studied 4-5 days a week for a little over a month. I did about 500 practice questions in total. Reviewing and knowing the material well was my focus. Good luck to all :)

Thanks for the congratulations from the above! I'm relieved finally :). It was hard to study again for that exam when most of my friends passed the first time. I studied wrong the first time and hopefully I'll be better nurse because of this experience :)

What I mean is that "ready to pass" doesn't focus on practice questions. It focuses on learning the material correctly so you will choose the right answer on the exam. Even if you don't take that class, it's the best way to study in my opinion. I did about 2000 Kaplan questions before failing my first exam. I don't think a person can really learn by doing practice questions and reading rationales. In nursing school we are preparing for the exams only... and we forget whats important once the exam is over. Yes, you can read a rationale and learn from your mistake, but you will never see that question again on NCLEX.

Do NOT give up!! Focus on less resources!! You might be all over the place with your studying. I would listen to Hursts videos about 3 times each. Master ONE resource before you even schedule your next exam. Do questions once you have mastered the material and after it's stuck in your head like glue. Do less questions and focus on signs and symptoms and adverse reactions to medication. I just passed yesterday. I failed the first time in 76 questions, and passed yesterday in 140 questions. You have to focus on what your not comprehending. focus on detail!! Don't just know diseases and procedures... Know what you do for a patient with that disease step by step. What you do first, second, and so on after a patient has had a procedure.

"Ready to pass"is a class. You can goggle it. It's a review of everything, and it's core content based! It was a very good course, taught by very knowledgeable nurses. :)

I passed today! It's the best feeling in the world!! I just want to tell all of you that everyone can do this. I failed my first time, and I thought I would die!! A friend of mine who also failed pulled me out of my depressed hole and told me that we are going to do this together and pass together ...and we did!!! We took a class called "ready to pass". It was so helpful. We also did Hursts together. We listened to the lectures in Hursts twice!! That really helped!! The test was hard, and I wasn't 100% sure about any of the answers... But I studied hard. Listen, I probably did at the most 500 practice questions in a month. Core content is the best way to study. I recommend Hursts!!!! I loved it. :)

It's online lectures (not an actual book). There are PDF print-outs that come with each lecture. Print it before you start each lecture. Each lecture ranges from 35 minutes to 66 minutes. Give yourself the time to listen to all of the lectures and maybe go back after your done and listen to them again. Nclex 3500 is good for practice questions, but spend more time learning your core content.

Hursts for sure!!!! PDA book with Hursts actually !!! PDA book isn't a long book .... And it's very helpful. Hursts is the best!!!

Don't buy any Kaplan books. This is my opinion only. I recommend Hursts!! It's the best review, and it's fun. You will learn so much! I have Kaplans review book and it's okay. It will help you while you're falling asleep and reviewing everything you already learned in nursing school. Do Hursts review!! It ties everything together for you and helps with discovering NCLEX tips in a fun way. :)

I'm doing Hursts now. I answered all the questions and reviewed all the rationales through Kaplan and failed. I think focusing on content is better then answering questions, as Kaplan did not prepare me for what I saw on my exam. Hursts has helped me put the material together. I made that mistake the first time. I've been taking test in school for three years so I didn't need to do all those Kaplan questions. I should have done Hursts in the beginning. Good luck :)

Try Hursts!!! It's great. I failed the first time. I was so down about it. I know your pain!!! I also did Kaplan, and like you it didn't work for me either. Kaplan is great practice for people who are very good with content. I'm preparing for my 2nd attempt. I'm using Hursts...and so far I really like it! Try focusing on content and less questions this time. That may help. I'm also taking a course called "ready to pass". It's focus is content. I'm not sure if they have that course available in your area but again, content is probably where you need to focus. Kaplan actually gave me my money back :). Don't be hard on yourself! Spend your energy formulating a new study plan :)! Hope this helps!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Did you do nclex 10,000 adaptive questions? Or 3500?
