  1. Thank you!! I definitely understand those frustrating days. There were times where I was like what is wrong with my resume/cover letter?? I did so much during school, internships, volunteered...why wasn't I getting any calls. My friends were great about snapping me out of it, telling me to keep positive and stay focused. We are all new grad nurses so there were many coffee shop interventions when one of us was getting down lol. The job market is tough but keep applying and stay determined and when you are selected for an interview blow them away with your passion for the unit!! As far as the fellowship I remember seeing when I applied that the position started in August, but you can probably call HR to confirm. Thank you again, and let me know how you job search goes!!
  2. Hi SuperwomenRN, Everything is going great on my end. I didn't hear anything from the fellowship, but I did get offered a position in a NYC hospital in their NICU!!! So happy to be starting my nursing career in my dream unit! I haven't heard of anyone getting an interview with the fellowship so maybe they are still going through the applications. Stay positive! It's still early considering the fellowship starts in August. Keep me posted
  3. So I had responded to this by saying that I refuse to be negative about being an associate degree new grad nurse and I knew it would be difficult to find a job but I was not going to give up. Well after two months of applying and no calls, I got an interview and was hired in NYC hospital in their NICU! It is my dream job!! I just want to let other AD new grads know that your degree is not a waste. It may be difficult to find a job and it may take some time to hear back from positions you applied to but don't get discouraged and definitely don't let other people bring you down. To all those who applied to this fellowship try to stay positive but if it doesn't work out keep applying to other openings. Someone will call you!
  4. Yea I was surprised that not many people have posted about the fellowships. I know a couple of people got interviews but like you said HR was still going over applications. I'm sure it's a long process. It is difficult to find a job in the city, especially now with LICH closing but keep positive, and if it doesn't work I am sure something else will come along!
  5. Hi, I haven't heard anything either. I didn't try calling because I have heard that HR doesn't give out any information regarding the status of your application.
  6. Hey kfeastRN, did you hear anything this week?
  7. NycRN92, No one has sugar coated anything about getting a job, I know it will be extremely difficult to get calls/interviews with an associates degree but I refuse to have a negative attitude about the situation. Who knows what will happen with this fellowship or any other position I've applied to. They said they do consider associate degree nurses when I called HR so I applied. My application can be in the garbage or at the bottom of their list but all I care is that I tried. Two of my friends got interviews with nyc hospitals with them being new grad AD nurses and one got offered a position. I will continue to apply to fellowships and every other position that doesn't say bsn required and see where it takes me. In the meanwhile I am enrolled in a rn-bsn program and will be done next year.
  8. Congrats lvu201! Are you a bsn nurse? Did you do any internships or volunteer? And when did you hear from nslij for the interview. Sorry for all the questions I'm just trying to get a feel for what they are looking for. @GoVeg they took down the posting I believe yesterday. They usually only keep it up for a few days so you have to stalk their site to find it. I think they will be doing another fellowship in the late fall early winter like november/december so keep an eye on their website.
  9. So I heard people started to get called for interviews. Have you heard anything?
  10. Hi Sari, If they really like you I'm sure they will give you an offer. They know you haven't taken the NCLEX so they wouldn't waste their time in interviewing if it wasnt going to lead to a possible position. When did you get the call from them? And how long ago did you apply? I anxiously waiting for a phone call!! I'm an AD nurse though so I'm not sure what my chances are.
  11. Hi 0907, Do you know which hospitals upstate hire AD nurses?
  12. Hi rinskins, Do you know if Danbury Hospital will hire new grad associate degree nurses? I graduated in December and got my license in March, started my bsn and still haven't gotten any calls. Im in NY by the way but I'm willing to move close to Connecticut if I can get an opportunity over there.
  13. Hi KfeastRN, Thanks for sharing! I ended up applying to the critical care fellowship as well. When reading about the fellowship on the site I saw that you could choose which ICU you would like to be in. Since neonatal ICU and pediatric ICU were options I figured I'd try just in case I didn't hear something from the PICU fellowship. Good luck to you too!
  14. Oh ok. I didn't know NSLIJ had a posting in April. I saw today that all the fellowships are still up, so maybe they wont start to call people until after they take it down. I'm trying to stay positive but I know my chances are smaller being an AD nurse. Keep us posted if you hear something!
  15. Thank you Sammie! I called HR yesterday and they said that they will consider AD nurses so keeping my fingers crossed. Did you have your interview already? If so how did it go?
  16. Hi! So NSLIJ just posted the PICU Fellowship a couple of days ago and I wanted to see if anyone else has applied for it. If so have you heard anything from them? Also would love some advice from anyone who had applied for this position in the past. How long did it take to get an interview and how was the interview process. Thanks!
  17. Hi NycRN92, Did your friend get into the PICU through the critical care fellowship or the PICU fellowship. I applied to the PICU fellowship and I'm not sure if I should apply to the critical care one as well. I heard that it usually takes up to a week to hear back from them but on another thread a girl applied to the picu fellowship and got a call already for an interview. I'm a new grad and also just got my license in March. I haven't had any luck either dht183.
  18. And congrats by the way on the interview! Don't be nervous about the interview, be honest about why you got into nursing and why this field interests you. They will probably go over your resume and ask deeper questions into whatever experience you have. Do you know by any chance if they consider AD nurses for this.
  19. Also do you guys know if they accept AD nurses?
  20. Hi Samie-RN! I just saw the posting for the PICU fellowship today and applied. Did you find out about an interview the next day cause the posting just went up. Also I just attached my resume and cover letter, I'm still waiting on getting my recommendation letter and hope I can edit my application and add it in later. Are you a BSN graduate and did you take the NCLEX?
  21. Hi everyone. I just saw the new postings for the nslij fellowships which are to start this summer. I was just wonder, all those who applied for the PICU did you apply to the Cohen Children's Medical Center PICU fellowship or to the Critical Care fellowship which is available in two hospitals.
  22. Hi Type1Nurse2b, The Woodhull externship is it only for the summer or do they do it after each semester? I'm at BMCC too and will be graduating in December, but unfortunately my class (Evening section)doesn't get any info about externships.
  23. Thanks I'll continue to check the website. I've been looking for it on the carrer site for NSLIJ cause when I click on the link for the Lenox Hill externship thats where it conitnues to take me. Were you told to look for a posting on NSLIJ regular site?
  24. Hi toussaint03, this is my first time on here and like you am trying to get information regarding NSLIJ externship for the summer. I've been searching though google and I cant find any information. I know Lenox Hill ususally offers one but they too havent posted any information. Does anyone know who to contact, possibly a nurse recruiter for North Shore LIJ? Thanks!!
