If you are limiting yourself to 6-7 hospitals you have to be really lucky to get in. It is pretty hard for new graduates to land a hospital job unless they did preceptorship there. Try to get in touch with your preceptor and apply for positions there. Other thing you can do is to personally go to those hospitals or try to get email of nursing managers and send your resumes directly to them. If that doesn't work I guess your only option is to apply for homecare/long term care. I have got one casual in each of those to get some experience till I land something in hospital. I prefer homecare over LTC since I don't have to care for 80 clients at a time. Your choice - Do you want to keep applying to same hospitals for 6 months in the hope of a response or use that time to take up some experience.

1. Does anyone know if this student loan forgiveness is applicable to OSAP? I believe OSAP has federal and provincial portions. 2. Is the grant prorated based on hours worked or is it fixed at $4000 if you meet the min. required 400 hours.

Yes, getting into Toronto hospitals is difficult unless you did preceptor-ship there but if you are ready to work in LTC/Home Care outside GTA there are opportunities. I just got two casual offers outside GTA. I doubt Alberta hospitals will have any more jobs than Toronto hospitals for new grads. So if planning to go Rural Alberta, you might consider Rural Ontario first since you already have licence here. Just my 2 cents.

I recently got two casual RN jobs in Ontario. Does working 2 casual (20 hours a week each) puts you in a better tax position and more take home pay than working 40 hours a week at one place? e.g. getting two 30k casual jobs vs one 60k position - which has more take home pay or it the same?
