  1. I'm starting the RN-BSN-MSN program this summer!
  2. I recently tried it and it was not accurate for me. I passed NCLEX and got the "bad pop-up"
  3. I just took mine the 13th. It shut off at 75 questions and I passed. Of the 75, I only felt certain of the answer on 20 of them. As someone who passed, I can tell you PVT is not accurate.
  4. I took mine on 6/13/15 and was told I would have results this morning. I keep getting a message on my Pearson page that says results are unavailable. I contacted the live chat Pearson Vue help and they said since I took it over the weekend I wouldn't have quick results until Wednesday. It didn't work like this for LPN boards. Anyone else have a longer wait because of taking it a weekend day?
  5. There is a PA program in the town where I live and they say you must have 2000+ hours of paid, direct contact, healthcare experience. The truth is that they let people in who have only job shadowed PAs.
  6. I agree with Open Wide Heart. I got a HCM degree 4 years ago and I'm starting nursing school this Aug. My experiences with the HCM degree have been so awful I could probably write a book and make more money off of it than I have in the last 4 years.
  7. Also, are the online programs any easier to get into? Most of the requirements I've seen specify having a BSN with varied years of experience and at least a 3.0. Does anyone know how many students are usually accepted? Talking about NP programs....
  8. I was unaware. I thought with all MSN degrees one must be at least a RN. I think with both programs clinical experience should be required.
  9. It's pretty scary how some, if not most, PA programs accept students with any kind of degree and no clinical experience.
  10. I have noticed there are several online NP programs but very few PA programs. Why is this? I'm not trying to start a debate on who is more qualified bc I feel it comes down to the person and how hard they work. But why is it that so many NP programs are able to be offered online?
  11. Has anyone done the Acute Care track at USI?
  12. I had several of the same reading questions and a few in English. Many of the math were the same type, just different numbers. As far as the science, the first time it had tons of chemistry on it. The second time lots of questions about kinetic and potential energy. The ATI study guide did not prepare me well at all. If you have recently taken biology and chemistry you will likely do well. The test took the subjects in the guide and expanded on them greatly.
  13. 76% I used the ATI manual and the science section was unreasonably difficult.
  14. I have the ATI study guide and one of the practice tests was somewhat easy and the other was very difficult. I took the exam two weeks ago and I thought the science was unreasonably difficult. I still scored pretty well, I attribute that to being a good guesser. The exam takes what is explained in the guide and expands on it greatly. I had very few general or basic knowledge questions. I think if you have recently had chemistry and biology you will find it easier if your test is anything like mine was.
  15. My thoughts exactly! There were so many questions that were never even hinted at in the study guide. I wouldn't even know how to tell someone to study for it. One of my questions pertained to biochemistry!
  16. English is one of my strongest areas and I thought it was a little tricky at times. Make sure you study proper punctuation, especially semi-colons and commas. Also study things such as for whom vs to whom, that vs which and possessives. Also you will need to know the meaning of a word based on context clues within the sentence. I didn't spend a whole lot of time going over the English in the study guide. My recommendation would be to study it thoroughly and then go online for further clarification/examples of anything you are having trouble on.
  17. Maybe it is different at every program bc I emailed the director of the nursing program where I have applied for clarification and she said the program percentile is for students who have applied to the program at that college and only that college.
  18. You can ask the computer lab supervisor for one.
  19. Does anyone know when it comes to the percentile rank for the program, does that mean the class accepted for the year before or the average for the past several years?
  20. mathisfun.com helped me a ton!
  21. No you will not. I have a bachelor's degree, am CNA certified, and have a certificate in gerontology and I have to apply just the same as everyone else. The community college I have applied to only goes by the score on the Teas exam when determinining the nursing class. I just took the test today and the science was very difficult unless you have recently had biology and chemistry.
  22. I just took the test today and the science was very difficult for me. I spent lots of time studying everything in the ATI study guide and that certainly wasn't enough for me to do above average. I recommended to anyone taking it to go online and study the topics in the manual in much greater detail, as most of the questions required critical thinking. For students who are fresh out of micro and chemistry it will likely be much easier. For the rest of us, the manual is much too vague for the questions asked, IMHO.
  23. The happiness I am referring to is strictly on the job happiness, not overall life happiness. Generally I am a very optimistic person. I am non confrontational, but I do stand up for what I think is right. I tend to get along well with coworkers. I have seen firsthand how negative workplace attitudes can damage a business, environment, floor etc. it's good to hear that you believe it is worth the cons that come with. My aunt has been an ER nurse for 20+ years and she is always extremely exhausted and usually has nothing but complaints about her job. Seeing that plus my own experiences had me concerned the negativity could get in the way of an otherwise fulfilling career, even for a positive person.
  24. I'm pretty much in the same boat. I'm in my undergrad (already have a bs in healthcare management) working toward being a SLP and I've just about decided to apply to nursing school. Nursing is so limitless and doesn't seem it could ever get boring. I do not want to work with children and that really limits the jobs, settings I can be in as a SLP.
