I agree with another poster. Co-workers are just that. Learned along time ago, that co-workers and "my life" away from work just do not mix. When I finish my 8 hours I want to leave it all there, work, problems and 99% of the people. Just my way I guess, but happy with it.

I am a Unit/Ward Clerk in LTC. When we send a pt. to the ER or any hospital/office/clinic/etc. We copy the most recent info on the chart,Dr. orders,p/h.progress notes,nurses notes, TPR sheet and anything and everything else we think could be needed aslo do a Transfer Sheet(the RN). And the RN always calls the ER and gives a verbal report with chart in front of them. In know this is how we do it. By the way we get great feed back on the info we seed with our patients ( I always tell the other places I deal with if you don't have the info you need please call and it will be faxed to you ASAP). Get very few calls.

I always leave the building for all breaks. And I tell whoever needs to know that I am going to break/lunch. Yes I smoke but ONLY on my break times! Where I work they sometimes have Bging your lunch inservies. Don't go to those either. I need time away from the units to get myself "together" for the rest of my working day. (I work all over the building everyday)

Oh yes,we have the Eden Thing!! We have the dogs,cats,birds,fish,plants,sometimes kids,etc.,etc. BUT guess what Adm. forgot? They forgot to empower the staff!! Yes this is a Big part of the Eden thing. It all sounds very nice,but you need someone to take control of all these animals and plants,etc. Sorry but where I work staff does not have time to do their jobs right and I mean all depts!! But if you somehow manage to "find time", your work will be given to someother staff person and soon you will not have a whole hella lot to do because you are such a GOOD EDEN ASS, I mean person!!! We had a BIG Staff Meeting with other Nursing Homes invited and we all got green Tee shirts that Adm. would like us all to wear in support of the EDEN THING! I think we need to get back to Healthcare first.
