  1. Has anyone who was accepted checked out their financial aid info on GWeb? The Financial Aid Office said vaguely they would send out information in Summer, but I wondered if anyone's Cost of Attendance has showed up yet.
  2. Hi everyone, I just got my wait list notification for the FNP program outside of MTA. I submitted my application waaaaayyyyy after the priority deadline, so it appears they are finally working their way through late applications. Good luck to all!
  3. I just heard today that I was accepted into GWU for the fall FNP track. I applied back in January but I believe my recommendations and transcripts were late.
  4. I and at least 10 people from med surg are sitting by our phones waiting to hear back. It's going to be a long Friday.
  5. Still no word from med-surg...but they have practically no turnover, so it's tough.
  6. I'm presently in the program at Duquesne, and I have to warn you guys, although it might be late, none of us are satisfied here. From top to bottom, it's a catastrophe. In the first semester we haven't really learned anything, there's no assessment of your progress (just all-or-nothing midterm and finals), and to top it off there is a general consensus here that our final grades were just made up (of course, you can't see your finals, it's not as though you could learn from them; incidentally, I know people whose grade on the midterm changed 10% when they contested it because of how poorly it was graded). I'm not disgruntled, but I read a warning from someone last year to avoid Duquesne and I ignored it, so I want to pass the warning on (again, I don't know a single student who is content with the program; when the MEDIAN final grade in a class is 52%, there's something amiss).
  7. I attended one of the first Adult-Geriatric Primary Care sessions yesterday--there were only 2 of us and one applicant who didn't show up. I noticed though there were a dozen people going off to every other interview.
  8. Ahoy everyone! Thought I would throw in my two cents since my application materials are finally all in place. I've worked as a home health aide and CNA forever. I totally recommend finding casual employment as an aide in a hospital--it's grueling, but it doesn't require much training and you can learn a ton about the nitty gritty of nursing (when my coworkers found out I was finally applying, they asked why on earth I'd go into nursing after all I've seen). Good luck to everyone!
  9. I haven't actually gone to Duquesne, but I work with a few of the graduates of the ABSN program, and they highly recommended it and said they would go through it again. They all seem pretty competent and well-prepared as nurses, as are the graduates of the ordinary undergraduate program I know. I also met one of the faculty, and he seemed awfully pleasant. There's got to be something negative to be said about it, but I haven't heard it.
