Patient Safety Act for safe staffing in hospitals
Thanks for the info. I remember reading about this a while back but really didn't know how to contact someone who matters!

Looking for Onc or MedSurg in Boston. Why is this so difficult?
St. Joseph's in Nashua had some positions listed with oncology xp preferred. If you can live north of Boston they're a pretty easy commute and nice place. Shoot me an IM if you want the recruiter's info.

Working as an Aide after you take your Boards?
I have been told by hiring managers that MGH will not let you work as a CNA / PCA once you have passed NCLEX. I don't know how the other hospitals in the city are with this.

EC Background check
Laurie, I have an October date for the NY site. I sent my application in back in April. Of those I've talked to lately it seems the wait is about 6 months everywhere except CA, which is longer.

3 down 6 to go
MedicGram- Try Fluids & Electrolytes made Incredibly Easy. I thought it was really helpful for NC2. (got an A) If you decide to get it though, don't pay full price. Check the libraries and ebay and amazon.com. You can save yourself some coin. I think the hardest thing in that exam for me was the whole compensation thing. But once I got it, it stuck! Keep plugging. You can do this.

CCU exp as a new grad
I liked that book as well. Thanks for the good info. I may see if I can't get in as a tech while I wait for my NCLEX date. My concern though, would be that they wouldn't want to take me for that position knowing that after boards I'll be seeking an RN position and not looking to stay as a tech.

CCU exp as a new grad
I'm seeking some advice regarding how to get into CCU as a new grad. My advanced med/ surge rotation in school was in CCU and I really enjoyed it. I liked it much more than the med/surge floor. However, I've heard many stories of it being difficult to get into a unit as a new grad. My nursing degree will be an ADN and I have a BA in psych. Hoping to finish that BSN soon. I've been looking at some CEU programs and workshops for EKG, arrhythmias, ACLS and the like. What else do you think would make me a strong candidate to a hiring manager? Thanks-
