  1. I am an lpn ready to go back to school to be an rn. With the ultimate goal of becoming an arnp. Does anyone have any suggestions for my best path. Would it be better to go for my RN(associate) to increase my pay while working on my arnp? Or would it benefit me to try and do lpn to bsn for my rn than go for my masters(arnpP? Thanks for your reply.
  2. I am wanting to start EC asap, but do not want to have to pay them for the gen ed. classes. I have my LPN license, but still need quite a few gen ed. Is there a way to just test out of them through a community college? The local college here offers some, but do you have to be enrolled at a college to do so? I know that I can get the books to study for it, but how do I know if it is the right book, for this particular test. Thanks.

It doesn't seem like you arte getting very far with your question, unless I missed it. I too am trying to find out about istudysmart. I have talked to a representive from there, but am wondering can I just take the test for the gen ed. at the testing center. Exc. will not talk to much until you have applied and I don't want to spend the extra money just to apply if this is not what I am looking for. If you find out anything let me know. thanks
  4. CONGRADULATIONS!! :balloons: I am kind of new here, but I am getting ready to start EC. I am terrified of the the CPNE, I have heard some horror stories. So you definately deserve a cheer!! You said you wnet to Atlanta and the prople were nice there. That's good to know. That is the closest one for me. Once again CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!
  5. So, basically you did the EC program just using EC's study guide that they give you for free and the text books they require? I did really well in the LPN program. I am waiting to sit for boards but I plan on trying to take as many classes as I can while I am waiting to sit for boards. Thanks for the info. This web site has been a life saver. I seem to be finding more info here than I did talking to the different schools.post QUOTE=chip193]I think that the poster was talking about taking NC1 and NC2 without using one of the publishing companies - i.e. pay EC for the exam. That is how I did the whole program. That's what worked for me - and your learning style may be different. Chip
  6. How can you just take the first 2 test and only pay for the test?
  7. What exactly is rue.? I am not familiar with that. I am just trying to figure out if going through EC and using their information is going to be enough or do I need to go through one of those other companies to get more study guides. You have to pay for EC through this other company istudysmart and they give you study guides and they schedule all your testing etc. I really need some guidance from someone who has done the EC program or is doing it.
  8. how far are you in the ec program? are you going for asn or bsn? are you going directly through ec or through a group like istudysmart.com?
  9. Thanks for the information. How do you know all this stuff? You don't happen to work for the BON do ya? I just don't understand why the school I graduated from didn't say anything about all this.
  10. I am waiting to take boards for my LPN, I graduated in Dec. I had put a question on the NCLEX forum about my situation. Our school never mentioned anything about the background checks and I found out about it when I went to apply to take boards, I just haven't heard anything from them yet, so I was worried about BON not letting me take my test. I am enrolling in EC for my RN and can take gen ed. until I have my license, but on EC website it also mentions the background check. I am so worried that something so stuphid from so long ago may have come back to haunt me.
  11. I graduated from LPN school in Dec 2004.I have just sent off for boards. I live in Fl. and went through hurricane Ivan, lost everything and didn't have the $$ to send, so I am just now doing it. I was curious if anyone with a past like mine had any problems sitting for boards. My brother-in-law(who is now incarcerated)stole some checks from my husband and I and forged my signature and caused several checks to bounce( like 8 years ago). Like an idiot, hoping he would straighten out didn't press charges. I ended up on probation until the checks and court fees were paid because the checks had already gone to State's attorney. I ended up violating because I was unable to pay all the fees in time.To make a long story short, all I had to do when I went to court was pay the fees that were left and charges would be dropped and adgudication of guilt was with held. paid everything and all is clear now and has been for 7 years, I just am hoping that something stuphid like this will not keep me from getting my license or furthering my education. Please if anyone has experienced or know anyone that has please let me know. The nerves are eating a whole in my stomach. The school I graduated from never said anything about background etc. THANKS!!!! You can be contacted by personal message. This site is Googled all over the world and we don't want any of you ending up on a spammer's list. They lurk here, too. :)
  12. That is exactly what I was referring to. I have sent off for boards for my LPN but have not heard anything yet.
  13. I was Just curious if anyone knows how strict EC background checks are. Not that I am a criminal or anything, My brother-in-law(who is now incarcerated)stole some checks from my husband and I and forged my signature and caused several checks to bounce( like 8 years ago). Like an idiot, hoping he would straighten out didn't press charges. I ended up on probation until they were paid because the checks had already gone to State's attorney. To make a long story short, did probation and paid everything and all is clear now and has been for years, I just am hoping that something stuphid like this will not keep me from furthering my education.
  14. So glad to find someone who is close to finishing with EC RN program. I am waiting to take state board for my LPN. I spoke to someone today with istuydsmart.com about starting EC LPN to RN program. Have you heard of istudysmart.com? They are a company that you go through to pass the tests at EC. Anyway, did you go straight through EC or did you go with a study program? If you only went through EC how was that and how does that work? I have seen alot of products (study guides, CD's, etc.) on sale used at e-bay. Are these necessary? UUGH!!!! I have so many questions. I have heard good and bad, mostly good. Any info you could give me or most would certainly be helpful to me and anyone else in this situation. Thanks!!
