  1. HELLO! Do you remember how long it took for the SC BON to finally post your license number/info online? I would love to know, because I'm in a weird situation and waiting on the board is driving me nuts!! I took my test June 10th in Indianapolis, IN. I am moving to SC and have accepted a position to start on July 20th. According to pearson vue quick results, I passed my nclex but I am worried because in 2 days it will have been 2 weeks since I sat for the NCLEX and still nothing from SC! Something else; 2 days after I took my NCLEX I was checking my online application status and all of a sudden my application didn't show up anymore, it said I had no applications pending. So I thought "great, they have processed my application I will have my license number soon!" but then nothing. This morning I was checking on the website and happened to check my online application status and was surprised to see my application was BACK on the website and showing as pending again, showing my nlcex-rn as the final thing pending. ***** The hospital that has hired me is calling and wants to know if I'm licensed or not, I called the BON but they were VERY unhelpful, the lady on the phone would not listen to me explain my situation and why I'm concerned there has been a mistake. She interrupted me frequently and just kept repeating that it takes "14 days from when Ms. Garret" receives your NCLEX score. So that was a weird and frustrating dead end. It's super frustrating because Indiana posts your license info very quickly, within 24 hrs after taking the NCLEX and I'm starting to worry there has been a processing issue with my application and I won't find out until it's too late!
  2. Hello, I just found this thread/post and hope I could still be of some help, although I realize about a month has lapsed... I'm starting the ABSN in the fall and I currently live in Indy, although I'm an Illinois native myself :) Have you had much luck with either topic? Housing or scholarships? Housing in Indy is pretty cheap, I would look on craigslist for people possibly looking for roommates and schedule a visit to meet people and check out apartments or houses. I can give any other advice or answer specific questions if you still have them!
  3. I just got my acceptance letter last week for an accelerated BSN program starting this Fall 2013. I was digging around and everything I saw said that you do not begin the process or to even bother contacting a recruiter until after you've been accepted to nursing school -- I feel so behind the eight ball! @TraumaRNHopeful -can you tell me about how long it took to get the other paperwork in line? And when would you hoping to officially be accepted, Spring 2014? I've reached out to a recruiting office in the area I'm just wondering if you can give me an idea of whether or not I'd have a shot to get my application together for the boards in time? I'd appreciate any advice!
  4. Yes I did it through Onestart, I read first on that sort of checklist of next steps that room had been reserved in the classes that I would need to register for so I searched for and added the classes (starting with the Science and Technology Nursing Practicum as the directions said to do.) After I went through the forms again the next day I did actually notice where it was written that registration would open at that specific range during June, but I had already been able to get in.... so I'm hoping it's all good. I've seen on these boards for other classes sometimes students don't have access to register for the classes right away, depending on their status at IUPUI so maybe all of us should have access by then? But I'll definitely be checking on June 21st to be sure! I'm so excited to get started :)
  5. I got my acceptance packet in the mail today! I'm so excited I already registered --anyone else out there signing up for block 1 ??? :)
  6. That is great to hear they've opened the size to 50 people. I was poking around on the website recently and noticed that they no longer are offering a summer start date! Had you noticed that? They changed some of the dates for notification, it used to say that applications were processed and notification of acceptance sent out in May, but now it says they're processed late May and notification sent out in June! More wait time I wonder if enrollment is really dropping due to options at Marian and U Indy? Anyway, their ABSN is still my top choice and I'm sure for many others. When I met with the advisor in January I got the impression the "application gpa" is determined by any classes you've completed the semester before applying, and that any classes in process would not contribute to the official application GPA that the decision is based off of. However, if they're waiting until the end of May to process applications, it gives the impression grades from this semester will be taken into consideration when issuing acceptance letters, doesn't it? I haven't filled out anything for financial aid! I JUST got my FAFSA in under the deadline, but don't even know where to begin to apply at IUPUI specifically. I guess I assumed I couldn't/wouldn't apply for anything until I'm officially a student. From the sound of it, is there one "general" scholarship application through the financial aid department at IUPUI? That would be nice to know, good for you for getting that information out!
  7. I did! Sent my application in January and then mailed along a copy of my academic planning sheet to officially complete my application. My application GPA was 3.76, so I'm nervous I might be "borderline". I met with an advisor and asked if she'd recommend retaking any classes, but she kept reassuring me that I was being too nervous and should be a strong candidate. That only goes so far when I know they ONLY consider GPA and they'll work their way from 4.0 down the list of applicants :/ I know they just recently changed the requirements to have ALL prerequisites completed the semester you apply to be able to be accepted to the program (i.e. requirements finished spring semester to be accepted for fall semester) and the advisor thought that would narrow the applicant pool for the next few classes :/ Hopefully you're not as nervous as I am...thanks for starting the thread, it would be nice to have others to compare notes with and ease some of the worry !
  8. Wow, I must be so eager to find others out there playing the waiting game with the ABSN at IUPUI that I missed the title of the thread! Hope the transitional program is going well!! Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I can't do anything more to downplay bleeding scarlet and grey on my application since I can't say I wouldn't hawk valuable paraphernalia to help support my family if I was also lining the pockets of the NCAA/OSU football machine, but I'll do my best to pull an A in A&P 201
  9. UGH- I know this feeling! I've applied for an ABSN in Indianapolis, the deadline to apply is March and they don't let us know until May. It's torturing me, but I'll hopefully be able to forget about it in the meantime. The program ONLY looks at GPA so I've seen people on here say they had a 3.8 something and almost didn't get in! My application GPA was a 3.79 for the prerequisites and I feel like it's strong, but I know if enough other people come along with a 4.0, 3.9, and 3.8 I may not make the cut! Hope you're all managing to stay positive!! :/
  10. Hello, I've applied for the ABSN at IUPUI for 2013 Fall Semester and would love to know how it's going for you so far!! Any recommendations for those of us just applying? I'm very nervous about waiting until May to find out if I'm 'in' for 2013, because I keep hearing/reading how competitive the GPA requirements are. The advisor I met with before applying actually told me that the do NOT count the personal statement about career goals AT ALL. She said something like you could almost leave it blank because they only look at GPA. If there is anyone else out there waiting to hear for 2013, post here and we can keep each other updated! For anyone interested, my first degree was in French and Business Administration so I just completed A&P 101 and 102, Chem 111 as well as Life Span Development and Sociology at Ivy Tech Lawrence. I'm in A&P 201 this semester, to finish out my prereqs. I got all A's in my prereqs and had mostly A's for the rest of the classes, but I come from Ohio State University where we were on the +/- system and I have a lot of A-s! My application GPA was a 3.79 and will be just over a 3.8 with an A in A&P 201. The advisor said they saw a drop in applications last year and anything above a 3.7 should be competitive, but I keep reading here about people with 3.89s barely getting in.... -A.S.
