  1. 6-8 pages is nothing. First page: title page. Second page: intro. Third page and so on: find quotes from other sources and be sure to site them. You will actually only end up with 1-2 pages of original work. Last page is your reference page. No. Big. Deal. I had a professor who when she was working on her thesis tell me her professor said "no one wants to read what you think, they want what to read what the experts think" Maybe being challenged is what you need, challenges show us what we a capable of. Sometimes these assignments are meant to weed out people who are serious about their education from those that want to just skate through the program with minimal effort. Sometimes the assignments are to test you to see if you will comply and follow direction. The squeaky wheel doesn't always get the oil, it sometimes gets replaced. There is always another student ready and willing to take your place
  2. The only thing I used to study questions from was the ATI app that I bought. And I did about 14 quizzes ranging from 30-50 questions each and I read the rationales. That's it.
  3. I am a new nurse and I can tell you for certain that most of my clinical sites were restrictive and limiting. We weren't allowed to pass meds at one hospital, couldn't do anything with IV's at another, no insulin at another, we were treated as free CNA help basically. It was mostly because of mistakes other nurses or nursing students had made in the past. I also had lazy instructors who were inconvenienced by us asking To be shown things and were more interested having us do concept maps then out on the floor getting our hands dirty. So needless to say, I did not get the clinical experience that is crucial but I can make a concept map that made my fellow student weep from shame and inferiority and write a paper in perfect APA format! If I were to get a job in a hospital I would need a lot of support from a preceptor. I am a little traumatized after reading all the pp.
  4. I am also a brand new nurse, graduated in December and passed boards on Saturday. And I feel the exact same way! I just said to my husband how it feels so strange to sign "RN" after my name at work. I have been working in LTC and I have just started a new position as assistant director of nursing, talk about having doubts! I also am finding it hard to find a balance between my former role as CNA/CMA and my new role. I guess I couldn't imagine what this would be like, it's surreal.
  5. I got 75 questions. Unless I got them all wrong I'm guessing I passed
  6. I took mine today too, just finished in fact. I checked mine and it said I've recently registered for an exam and cannot register at this time. I got stuck on a math question for what must have been at least an hour! That totally made me feel like I was going to fail.
  7. You have done a lot to prepare for NCLEX more than some people. I don't think there is any more you can do. Just go for it and believe you will pass. Stay positive and believe in yourself!
  8. I can respect that you are a person of faith but all the energy you put into fasting and praying seems like a waste of time. As a nursing student you should know that your brain needs food to function! Perhaps that's why you failed.
  9. Does "when in doubt pick C" ever work in anyones favor?
  10. I am also 2 weeks away, I'm doing questions on an ATI app I bought plus some from the books, not going crazy tho. I recommend Hesi comprehensive review for NCLEX, it helped me pass my exit hesi and has strategies on how to answer. I am not nervous....yet. DO NOT doubt yourself. Tell yourself you will pass. Staying positive will help. All through nursing school for every exam, I told myself I will pass and I did.
  11. The nclex questions are based on Blooms Taxonomy. Nursing is all about application and analyzing, If you can't apply your nursing knowledge and skills you shouldn't be a nurse. And it's nice that you think god will help you but the reality is only you can help your self. It's not mean that I'm saying this, it's honesty and if you can't handle it you need to toughen up.
