University of South Alabama Psych NP Program
It appears I will only take advanced physiology during the spring with organizational leadership, as well as scientific underpinnings. I'm planning on following a two year plan. I have recently accepted a fri-sun position so I can have the week off for school. Maybe we can start a Facebook group or something? My email I sent [email protected] Take care!

How long did it take for HR to contact you?
I interviewed on 5/23. I just found out yesterday 6/11 that I was offered the job. I did try and reach out to the hiring manager on a few occasions. She didn't return my phone calls. I guess once they say ok, it's up to HR to advise you of an actual offer. Good luck!!

Nurse-Run Child Care
I like the name Healing Hands Nursery. I wish there was a center here in Jacksonville Florida. I always thought it would be a gold mine if one of the child care centers would accommodate nurses schedule. Everyone that I find, is open from 6:30am -6:00pm. Good luck to you. Sounds like a very solid plan. I hope that you would offer hospital staff hours.

Nursing Student Shoes for Talls?
I am also 6'1. I am looking for shoes that would be comfortable. It is somewhat challenging to find scrub pants that are long enough. I have read many different forums about the best shoes. I also do not want shoes that are going to add height. I will continue to research and hopefully find comfortable shoes. I would prefer to have white, leather shoes so they are easy to clean. I currently wear new balance. They do not wipe clean that well.

LTC Nurse: Patient Ratios
I have found the ratios to be very alarming in the facilities here. I live in Jacksonville Florida. I started as an LPN in a LTC/rehab. I would have at least 24-30 residents. And on the rehab side, I would have a min of 19. It was very challenging. I have gained much respect for the nurses that stay. I felt like there was never enough time in the day. I sometimes get anxiety when I think of some my days there. I am now awaiting to start a position at a hospital. I understand that in a hospital I will have higher acuity patients. But I will be very happy with a better ratio. I've always thought it was ridiculous how staffing is handled in a facility. Not to mention that most staffing coordinators are power struck CNAs. I remember when I was CNA, I had so much respect for the nurses I worked under. I don't feel that is the case now. Very sad is all I can say. At the end the patient is the one who doesn't always get the best care.

Never give up
I used Pearson Comprehensive review. You can google her, if you are in the area it's really worth it. Exam Cram questions and answers was the only question book I used. Didn't care too much for Saunders. Good luck to everyone!!!

Never give up
Hi All, It has been an incredible journey, I told myself I would post it once I made it!! I completed nursing school in Feb. 2012, that's when my life changed forever. I had never really had respect for the exam, so I went in unprepared. I failed with 75 questions, I was devastated. I then found out I was pregnant and began trying to restudy and prepare for the birth of my child. I took it again, used saunders, hurst and pearson. I failed again at 265. I felt so alone, so hopeless. I then had to start over. It sucked, I was broke and depressed and about to give birth to my son. I kept on studying. I am in Florida and decided to challenge the LPN boards. We are allowed if you have completed and RN program. I passed on the first attempt, I landed my job in a SNF. I worked for a while and continued to study. It has been an incredible journey. I was so depressed at times, but I NEVER GAVE UP. I have now landed a job at a local, beautiful hospital on a MED/SURG floor and I am thrilled. I wish that I would of discovered MS.Sheila James sooner. I hope that if someone is feeling like giving up or frustrated with the NCLEX, just know that we can all do it. Please do not get discouraged. Never give up on your dream of becoming an RN or LPN. I'm glad I kept on trying. We can all do this, once you pass that exam, there is no looking back. Take care. Lacey RN
