  1. Not real close to Vero but not too bad for 1xweekly visits: http://www.baptisthealth.net they are hiring for the E.R. at the new Homestead Hospital. It is also just 20 miles north of Key Largo I know of several new grads that were hired straight to the ER good luck to you and your man!
  2. Funny you should ask... go to: http://www.back2college.com/raisegpa.htm You can get your completed credit hours from your degree audit and it will calculate your GPA for you. you can always take a super easy class over the summer to bring up your GPA if you should need to.
  3. I had a 3.8 going in. The medical campus advisor said the lowest GPA accepted from the semester prior to me applying was 3.4. But I know some of my classmates didnt have that high of a GPA. You just never know. Good luck.
  4. You should try RateMyProfessor.com. Alyssa Jean-Mary--I tried to get her but her class filled too fast. She was the professor everyone wanted--nice and had a great way to explain. I dont know about the Johann teacher. I had Ackner for chem lab and he was great. A bit wacky but very good. For chem lecture I had Larry Bray, he was a bit boring, but his test schedule was super forgiving, If you score higher on your mid term than on the 1st two tests--whatever you get on your mid term you will get on the 1st 2 tests. Same for final. Say you get a 65% on test 1, 72% on test 2 and 86% on mid term--then your grades will be changed to 86% on test 1, 2, and mid term, and same for test 3,4,and final. but if you score 89% on test 3, 79% on test 4 and 82% on final, then the only grade changed would be the test 4 with the lower score so then you would have, 89%, 82%, 82%-final. good luck. Also try pickaprof.com
  5. Hey there! I went to orientation today and realized we didnt make plans to meet there!
  6. Congrats to you Yuca ! :studyowl: :Melody: :biere: :smiley_aa :yelclap: :w00t:  Whoa the accelerated would definitely make my brain explode! I was accepted to the Baptist Scholars program at MDC today! I guess the time is now to prepare mentally for the coming days!!! I know what you mean about feeling alone out there. I went to my orientation at MDC and did not see one familiar face. Best of luck to both of us!
  7. I am sure that these questions have probably been posted before, but Im going to ask anyway if you dont mind.... How did you decide what specialty you would work in? Or did you just happen to fall in to an area where you were needed? What do you like about your department/specialty? What is the BEST thing about where you are? What is it that you DONT like about your area of specialty? What would you change if you could? Thanks.
  8. So I had an interview and here are some questions I was asked: Why do you want to be a nurse? What would you do if you saw a pt being mistreated by a fellow nurse? How would you handle a mistake in regards to a pt? how do you handle pt confidentials? Why do you want to work here? Where do you see yourself in 5 yrs? basic garden variety questions I guess. I hope I gave the right answers!?!?!!!
  9. Ok, I will let you know how it goes!!! What type of scholarship did you apply for, on site or off site?
  10. Yanet, Pinayfl is correct about the dates for application. I submitted my application in March 06 for the fall 06 term. I was still taking Chem + Chem lab + PHI2604 The deadline was May 1st. The term ended April 29th. So by the time the deadline came, I was finished with my pre reqs.:balloons:
  11. hey! Im taking CPR class on the 15th. I will see you on the 14th. Do you know anything about the orientation? Does it last all day? I mean do we stay there the whole day, or just go long enough to find out what we need and then go? I havent talked to anyone about orientation.
  12. Pinayfl What day is your orientation? Mine is July 14 at Medical Campus... Have you completed your CPR/BLS? and your immunizations? I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off!
  13. Does anyone have information on this program? I applied and I will be having an interview with Baptist next week. I was just wondering who will be conducting the panel interview and what questions I can expect............ Any information on the program itself. How are the teachers, clinicals, etc.etc. Any helpful hints for me if Im accepted..................... Im a Miami Dade College student and I applied for the On-Site Scholar program at Baptist.... Thanks :hbsmiley:
  14. !!! Im going to Homestead campus. !!! Full time generic
  15. Hey!!! I got my acceptance letter too!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:pumpiron:
  16. Just wondering if anyone has received their letter that has applied to the fall term for RN at MDC. They told me I would be notified by the middle of June...that would be tomorrow.....Post here when you find out!
  17. I live by Baptist Hospital and my kids go to public school here. Dade Co schools has ESE (exceptional student education). You may be happy with it. You can check their web http://www2.dadeschools.net/index.htm I beleive they receive quite a bit of funding for students like your child. Miami Dade College doesnt have a wait list for their ADN program. You are selected based on your GPA: http://www.mdc.edu I hadnt heard that MDC was going to offer BSN next year. That will be awesome. I dont know much about Palm Beach county. But I do know you will absolutely LOVE either Miami or Palm Beach over New Jersey!!!!! It's just too cold up there! Good luck
  18. Oh I have one of those in my A&P class and 2-3 students that like to ask the prof who is an MD unrelated questions regarding their health or share these idiotic stories about how their knee is 'double jointed'. I just want to SHOOT these individuals!!!!! Our prof usually shows up 20-30 minutes late and since we only meet once a week I want as much info/instruction as possible so now these students try to get free medical advice on my class time! On top of the fact that the prof stinks to begin with, has a very thick accent, and loves to give you trick questions and no study guide, I cant wait until this semester is over!!!!!
  19. I find it so hard to concentrate on this material! Im so easily distracted. If Im at home typing notes on the computer, I will always 'check' some website that is totally unrelated to school. If Im just reading or going over notes or listening to tapes of class, I find that Im thinking about 20 different things at once. I cant retain a lot of the information, or it just doesnt absorb at all. I have gone to the library and starbucks, and that keeps me from doing laundry or reading mail, but it doesnt address the fact that a lot of this stuff isnt sinking in and Im day dreaming while Im reading and I have to go back and read it over and over! Right now in A & P we are studying the neural tissue and spinal cord and nerves and muscle tissue and muscular system, we have a test this week on these four chapters and im going nucking futs!!!! Any suggestions on how to buckle down and become a focused studyier (sp?) would be great! How will I ever get through this!?
  20. Hi, you said you had the grades to get accepted in the scholars program and Im wondering what your GPA was. I dont want to have to fight the traffic to go to the medical/Jackson campus and I definitely want to get into the scholars program. I also wouldnt mind working at the new hospital in Homestead, it should be an awesome facility. Thanks
  21. Im currently taking pre reqs at Dade. Im looking forward to any replies you get. Ive still got a year to go before I can apply.
