  1. Would also love any info about home health. I just accepted a position and have orientation next week!
  2. 75 & done, too! Good pop up but still not sure I should be relieved yet! Two more days..... Congratulations, btw. :)
  3. I have heard great things about UW Madison and contacted admissions for information. I was told that the online RN to BSN program is only for residents of Wisconsin (I'm in Illinois).... Looking for a program, too. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks and good luck!
  4. Start final semester in three and a half weeks. I cannot wait for December! Cannot come soon enough. Good luck and congrats to all... :)
  5. I wish that we did not have summers off. Gives me time to realize how much I hate nursing school. I don't hate the career choice; just the school aspect. One more semester and then on to nclex. Cannot wait!
  6. Absolutely boosts confidence, though, to have the phlebotomy experience. I say go for it! How can extra knowledge and experience hurt? Good luck!
  7. 1) Cardiology: tests were completely unrelated to the lecture content, in my opinion. Content itself was good. 2) I admit to being a slacker when it comes to studying. I pay attention in class, review the night before for maybe 30 minutes, and that is all. 3) I had to purchase my scrubs through my school, so no option. Think they are Cherokee. Also have to wear leather, all white shoes. Went with Saucony. No complaints. 4) Clinicals can be intimidating, as you're in a new environment and not everybody is happy you're there. Be assertive and know that your clinical experience is largely up to you. I hate the thought of clinicals the night before, but I'm always happy once I'm on the floor. 5) I have enjoyed learning new things in nursing school. Haven't so much enjoyed the high school nature of some of the classes. All in all, though, a tremendously positive experience and not at all as horrible as people describe. It is time consuming and takes effort to balance school, kids, husband, house, and work, but it can be done, one semester left... Good luck to you!
  8. Just because he was NPO does not mean he wouldn't be getting fluids.... Good luck to you. I absolutely hate care plans!
  9. I can certainly see how that's true! The rotations I thought I'd love (OB/peds), I absolutely did not enjoy. Liked med surg but am loving cadiac so far. We'll see.... Still have oncology and neuro & psych to do.... :)
  10. Haven't done reconstitution yet, either, but wouldn't it be 500mg/8ml = 62.5mg/ml? Then for 100mg, divide by 62.5mg/ml and get 1.6ml? Did this without a calculator in front of me and without having done it yet in class, but seems reasonable, no? Could be wrong, usually am, just thought I'd give it a shot! Hope you get it! :)
  11. Dah doh, how do you like ccu? How long were you in med surg? Which do you like better? I know, off on a tangent... Sorry.
  12. Hi there! I would estimate that at least 85% of my entire class has at one time or another doubted his or her decision. A friend of mine and I debate returning at the start of each semester! Into semester three of four now, and that hasn't changed! At the end of the day, though, we're committed and will continue. Once you've completed your program, you will have so many options. If you don't like working with patients, then you can choose not to, for example. Don't write it off quite yet. I'm an older student with three kids and I look at some of the younger students who have stars in their eyes and talk about their mission in life to help people. Nope. I'm not one of those, and if I expected to be, I certainly would have quit by now. It'll work out. Give it some time. I can just tell you that I am worried about those who don't doubt their decision at one point or another! Good luck!
  13. I am so sorry for you! While I have not been in your position, I can most definitely say your experience is not what it is supposed to be. I would be very candid with the coordinator, and I would make sure to communicate clearly your expectations and be sure to understand what is expected of you. What is the worst thing that can happen if you explain to the coordinator the situation? Can't hurt.... Good luck to you! :)
  14. December 13, 2013. I actually like school (second career, so had been out of school for some time before returning). I think I'll miss it (well, not all of it!). Graduation will be here before we know it!
