Hello Does anyone here receive the e-mail newsletter regarding responses to this forum, and if so, did anyone receive a graphic and totally inappropriate e-mail today, regarding a posting (which I have yet to find on this forum) by a person going by "javina" ?

My School is Gone!
I agree. I think that some may have misread that. I seriously doubt that she is "looking forward to seeing dead bodies floating in the water." Really -- who would ?

My School is Gone!
Your problem is in no way trivial. You have worked very hard to get to where you are now. I hope that school officials, and the Department of Education of your state and Louisiana will offer full cooperation and assistance in helping you meet your goal, and that of others in your situation. It must be really frustrating.

Is there any administrative staff member that you may contact about this ? I am sure that you share a common concern with others at your school I sympathize with you.

What's Your Best Nursing Ghost Story?
I agree with you. I believe that it increases the chances of being deceived by a menevolent (evil) spirit. I have never played with a oija board, been involved in a sceance, or contacted a "psychic". I feel that if it is meant for me to receive a message from the spirit of a deceased person - the spirit will contact me directly. Thanks for the website. I find paranormal research interesting. I believe there are many who are truly "gifted". However, there are also many who are deceptive and fraudulent.

Nurses struggling with mental illness
I would like more information on telephone triage nursing. I have yet to enroll in nursing school. Our family is planning a move to another state within the next year and their nursing program requirements are different, so I plan to wait till after I move. Meanwhile, I am exploring different avenues in nursing. If you can provide some information on this board, I would appreciate it, and I'm sure that others would too.

Weeding out of nursing students
Geez !! That is awful ! I believe that things like that happen at nursing schools accross the country. There is favoritism practiced everywhere. A nursing student co-worker once told me that there was alot of nasty politics and favoritism going on at the school that she attended and graduated from There is a shortage of nursing instructors, so they feel that they can treat people as they like. The instructors should be graded as strictly as the students -- and those that are graded poorly on a consistent basis should be disciplined or fired.

About to give up on being a nurse
I agree. If she has accurately described her relationship -- the man is acting like a control freak. Those types do not want their wives to succeed or go higher, b/c they fear that they will lose control.

"Don't waste your time getting your BSN..."
In our state, ADN/ASN's make the same amount. There are also mgmt. opportunities for ADN's who are qualified. (There is no difference). Many nursing students start out with ADN/ASN, bridge over to BSN (with online courses - local university); and some then bridge over to MSN. I feel that the decision of whether to go for ADN/ASN or BSN is simply a personal one and should be based on any long- term goals. If you just want to be a nurse - try the ADN/ASN first.

Weeding out of nursing students
I agree. It is not a myth. Especially at the nursing schools in our area. One has gained quite a bad rep. There are a limited number of openings available for the clinicals. There are also a shortage of nursing instructors -- so they feel that they can do and say anything, be as difficult as they want because there is not much of a chance that they will get fired or disciplined.

Roll Call Fall '05, Pre-nursing for RN program
I graduated from a local university with a Bachelor of General Studies degree in December of 2004. I had been going to school on and off since 1993 and changed my major about 4 times. I have taken Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology Sociology of Healthcare and Healthcare Management; as well as many other pre-reqs. If I decide to start at a local school I have only a few classes left to take before I can enroll in clinicals (chemistry, nursing history, microbiology).

ADN is the abbreviation for Associate Degree of Nursing. Some Schools have changed it to ASN - Associate of Science in Nursing. You live in Miami -- cool ! Lucky you !

Britney demanding background checks for her L&D nurses..
I am older-- 43, but I do not feel that her fame entitles her to treat the hospital staff as if they were would-be criminals, or insist taking up extra rooms and cater to her diva whims. I do not have any hatred toward Britney Spears. I just don't have any sympathy for her. And while others may have placed her on that pedestal, she alone has the choice to stay there. That is where she chooses to be. All women who enter a public (or private) hospital labor and delivery unit should be treated special -- given quality care equal to that of others, not have to worry about their privacy being violated or their child being kidnapped.

Britney demanding background checks for her L&D nurses..
Her diva behavior goes beyond being in a "safe comfy place" to have her children.
