  1. Hello everyone! I also applied and was accepted to Stony Brook's FNP program! I'm from Westchester County and I think creating a FB group is a good idea ?
  2. Hi again everyoine! It's been a while since I've posted but thats what happens when you work full time and go to nursing school! I hope your first semester wasn't too rough! I just wanted to mention that you should join the Future Nurses Club. It will look great on your resume and it will show the professors your commitment to nursing (making them more likely to write a nice recommendation when you're out job hunting.) I will post the date of the first meeting of the spring semester once I get details from the club president (I'm one of the club secretaries). Good luck with your second semester and if any of you have any questions, please feel free to message me!
  3. Hi awildsoul, From what I know, there is no waiting list at WCC. They invite the people who scored the highest on the TEAS test into the nursing program.
  4. Hi wcc_hopful, I do plan on pursing either a BSN or MSN after I complete the program...not quite where I want to go yet though! I've been looking at Pace, Lehman and CNR...it all depends on which school can give me the most aid.
  5. Hello everyone! As a current nursing student in the WCC day program, I wish you all the best of luck! I remember being in your shoes! From what I know, the nursing instructors mainly focus on your TEAS score. They do look at your GPA as well (as well as your science GPA) but their main concern is the TEAS score. I scored an 88% when I took the TEAS but I also have a classmate who scored a 76% and he's doing quite well in the program. Once again, best of luck to all of you!
  6. Thank you so much for the great advice, Racer15! I'm so ready to start this semester already! I will focus on my studies more and do my very best!
  7. Hello everyone! I'm starting the 2nd semester of my school's ADN program and I'm feeling both excited and anxious! I'm excited because this semester is maternity and psych (more excited about maternity than psych but still excited about learning new things). My classes start Jan 22nd so I have a week to enjoy the rest of break. I'm nervous though because I heard stories about how about 6 students from last year's program failed 2nd semester. I also work full time so I always feel like I don't study as much as I should....any tips on how to survive second semester or how to better balance full time school and full time work? Thanks!
  8. Between school and work, it gets pretty crazy trying to find time for my friends/family/boyfriend. But I try to schedule them in whenever I have some free time (as horrible as that sounds LOL). I'm on break from school right now so I have another 10 days to relax before I'm back on my grind!
  9. I just finished my first semester of nursing school (I'm in the ADN program at Westchester Community College). I also work full time as a front desk agent at a nearby hotel. It is difficult but not impossible and it defintely helps you learn good time-management skills (which is crucial for a nurse). I don't really have much of a social life but when I do have a little bit of free time I make sure to spend it with family and my boyfriend. My friends are very understanding and know that I'm not purposely ignoring them LOL. I need to work full time because I live on my own and rent needs to get paid ! It's not an easy road but as long as you remain focused on your goal, you can do it!
  10. Hi Cnama72! I took the TEAS test this past March and I would strongly advise you to review everything. I had some questions about igneous rocks and I took earth science back in the 8th grade! LOL! They usually only have one of two questions on any given science topics so don't worry about it too much. Focus more on the anatomy and physiology section but it doesn't hurt to review the other topics as well. Good luck!
