3rd time taking NCLEX
I have done Kaplan twice and did not do it for me or many others. UWorld has worked for the majority of people at least the posts that I have seen. For many repeat takers it did the trick. I am on my 4th attempt using UWorld for the first time. Hurst is good for content which I have done, although there are many free youtube videos on content coming out now. Also I understand that your family is counting on you but that stress is going to way you down, do not let anyone know your test date just say it is your goal to pass before a certain time, you will feel less pressured.

Hi! I sent you a message :)

Foreign RN Failing Nclex - Study Tips Needed
UWorld is the best and a must! Their rationales are very clear and detailed and you learn how to critically think. You can also try combining it with Hurst,Lacharity, and you tube videos. Many have used at least one or a combo of these to pass. You need to learn how to relax the mind and be confident! If you have anxiety take care of that first. I am going in for my 4th attempt and trust me I am ready to move on as well!

Is there a time limit on taking the NCLEX
Call the state board of nursing where you live.

Failed 3 times in CO and won't let me retest.
WA state has unlimited attempts you just have to wait 45 days if you fail and pay $200 for the exam. I asked to make sure because I have to take it for the 4th time!

Failed boards 3 times..
All 3 times I have tested in the same center,so I think I will change it up, hopefully that helps. Are you currently working full or part time?
-
Failed boards 3 times..
Yeah skype sessions. For me the most important thing is to discuss content because the best way to learn is to teach. Also having a study partner keeps me accountable and motivated, especially when there are no deadlines like when we were in school. Right now I am working about 30 hours per week plus volunteer work,so that is why I am only studying a few hours per week. Once October comes around I will be putting in more study time. For each attempt, did you take the exam in the same testing center?

Failed boards 3 times..
That's okay, you just need 8 more posts and you can access them! I was just curious if it would work. I would really like to get a study group going through skype. Are you working and studying for the exam?

Failed boards 3 times..
My experience: Attempt #1 Used Kaplan but did not complete the program, was sick on test day, and ran out of time Attempt #2 Used Kaplan almost completed the program and ran out of time Attempt #3 Used Hurst but only watched the videos, had really bad back pain on test day, and ran out of time For my next attempt I will be completing Hurst program, Lacharity, NCLEX Mastery, UWorld and praying everyday!

Failed boards 3 times..
It's good that you tried something different with each attempt! Unfortunately every prep program will tell you that they will grant a miracle. However you have to recognize that to pass this exam you need content, test strategy, excellent mental stamina, and little to no anxiety. There is not one single program that has the total package. Those who have passed used several tools and completed the program. Kaplan, Hurst,Lacharity,NCLEX Mastery, and UWorld are the most common and successful programs according to many on here. I would highly suggest postponing your exam to a later date. Is that a possibility?

Failed boards 3 times..
I know how hard it must be to try and feel confident and positive.Just know that in the long run this will make us better nurses. If we can overcome this we can overcome much more harder times in our career and lives in general. It also sounds like you are being pressured, which never helps. Take your time, relax, this is your career and your future alone! I feel pressured by time and people nearly everyday. Keep in mind that you need to focus on yourself and that good things come in good timing :) I am studying a few hours per week but will go full speed come October. How about you walk me through your study plan/routine for each attempt since you graduated. Remember what we learned in nursing school:assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate! Maybe this will help with your next exam! :)

Failed boards 3 times..
Sorry for the situation you are in :(I too have not passed after 3 attempts, and yes it is frustrating but don't give up! I graduated from a bachelor's program more than a year ago and I am going for my 4th attempt this Fall/Winter. If you are interested in studying together online let me know! I would send you a private message, but I see that you just joined allnurses. I think you have to have 15 posts first before private messaging.

What should my first job be?
Hello, I am in my last semester of nursing school. I will be graduating in May and I am getting worried about finding my first job. I do not want to work at a hospital for many reasons. I would like to go go into public/community health, where I can educate clients on preventive health. However I do want to go into missionary nursing which requires that you have at least a year of experience working on the floor. There are many pros and cons to working at a hospital and as a public health nurse, but I just want to make the best choice so I can be a missionary nurse.Any input would be great and FYI there is a great need for public health nurses in the area I live in so new grads are welcomed.

WSU nursing applicants for fall 2014?
The books are the same but as soon as you get accepted I would email your instructors so you know for sure what books you need. There are required books that you won't need to read necessarily, but may need as a reference for exams, quizzes and research assignments. I will be going to Spokane on April 24 and 25th,I prefer to not ship them, will save money for both buyer and seller. Let me know if you have any questions about the books or anything else about the program :) Physical Examination and Health Assessment, 6th Edition Carolyn Jarvis $50 Pathophysiology, 5e Copstead-Kirkhorn PhD RN, Lee-Ellen C. $80 Study Guide for Pathophysiology, 5e Copstead-Kirkhorn PhD RN, Lee-Ellen C. $25 Fundamentals of Nursing-Perry and Potter 8thed $60

Is anybody applying to Yakima? I am a J2 at the Yakima campus. I would like to sell my books early, some that would give you a head start in the summer :) I could use the quick cash. Good luck to all! The program is great but very intense.

Any WSU applicants for Spring 2014?
Well let me start off by saying that it is going to be hard work! I have made it this far and I am proud of that haha..I recommend not working, although some of my classmates do,it depends on the person. If you are not a CNA or have any medical experience,it might be little harder, since you have to know the basic skills right away. It is very stressful, especially patho, clinical, and health assessment. As a J1 your goal is to just pass your classes, you fail one you go to 5 semester. I'm not trying to scare you or anyone reading this but that's how the program works. You will be like a supportive family with your classmates compared to Spokane. Be prepared for the snow and ice in January! Good luck on your interview! If you get accepted and can't find housing, feel free to message me, I might consider a roommate for Spring :)
