The other day someone claimed that MA's were over LPN's is this true and other claim that MA's make more on the hour than LPN's?

What is the take on certified clinical medical assistants verses the Licensed Practical Nurse? The rumor is CCMA's are taking the place of the LPN's, is it true? Concerning states which ones claim this rumor to be true and is it a good idea to do so? If you are CNA wanting to move up would MA be a better choice than LPN?

I'm a student that has failed 3x's I have done all of these and still received a failing grade. Although some material I achieved better on the nclex pn but still failed miserably. Is there recommended classes that can help figure out where I'm going wrong?

Wow! That is awesome info. I just got my performance report back. I almost made it. My pharm was always the worse now its up and my basic care is down. I will continue to pursue this till I run out. Thank you for the advise I'm looking for a good review course that deals in students failing multiple times. Hopefully there is a class room study course out there.

Thank you so much classicdame, This really helps. I just returned from gathering applications and a couple surprised interviews. I was prepared with resume and documents but was so let down when they said, "we would start you tomorrow but... (No License, No experience)" I have been a wonderful employee to every employer, never late, always prepared, never rude or a know it all, always ready to dive in to new experiences, and never afraid to ask for help or advise. My clinical instructors all said I was a worthy nurse and did a good job, I just hate having to be held back by this nclex exam. I will take your advise and search for these certificates and do my best to achieve this dream. Thank you again for the advise I will take it as gold.

Thank you Indy, I am not sure how many times they allow a person to take the nclex pn. I know in Tennessee you are allowed 8x a yr. As for how many times I do not know. I thank you for the advise on the course and surly will look into it. In the mean time I am looking for work. My children and wife had high hopes that I would be in this profession by now but had bad luck 3x on the nclex. I do not know what is offered to unlicensed nurses so I'm looking on this blog for similar experiences and what others did in the mean time. I would greatly appreciate any advise in this area as well. Thank you again for reading my post.

Medication Aide and practical nurse... Do you feel as though medication aides are better?

Hello, I am currently unemployed with a A.S. degree in health science and Practical Nurse certificate. I have been unsuccessful passing the NCLEX and need serious advice from a nurse prospective. I have made the decision to start over and challenge the CNA test, look for a phlebotomy course, hopefully find a Medication Aide course, and anything else as that will help me achieve a good job until I return to the NCLEX. It has been to long since I graduated, my family has been under a terrible burden from my lacking of provisions due to unemployment. I live in Tennessee seeking to find help from you, the professionals, who know of graduates that have had the same experience and what they did. I would give you my material at no cost but I have collected enough to set up a personal medical library that I want to keep for future references. I love reading the material gained through the years in school and hope one day to return. On a personal note, as my instructors and family has accounted that there was no way I could have failed this exam unless there was some spiritual reason. I know the test like the back of my hand and will tell you that Kaplan, NCSBN, Saunders, and Exam Cram are all you need to pass. Everything else branches from these review courses. Kaplan is great for explaining how to look at the questions and recognize what the questions ask. NCSBN is good for reviewing all subjects by bullet points. Saunders is good for subject break down and answering questions by subject. Exam Cram is the closest I've seen to the actual exam, if you score high on their practice exams you will come close to that same score on the NCLEX. I wish I could tell you what questions you will encounter but I do not want to get into trouble with the counsel state boards for sharing info. They hold true to watching you.

Alot of cna delegation and meds. SATA is rough so stick with the nursing process and maslow. Pt safety was extreme so know this well. Yes as drag & drop is plentiful so review all your fundamental skills.

My reason for this topic was hope for a change in the system. If I was lead to make a difference you bet the bottom dollar I would tackle this exam first and return it to where it belongs, in the professors hand not the governments.

Hi, Just took my NCLEX PN for a third and final time. Honestly this will be a positive response to people who design the test and students across the nation whom endure this mind racking exam. For those of you who have yet taken this examination you will pass and begin a career of hope, love, and caring for the patients that depend on you. My story is like all others who dream for that day they accomplish a well earned life in the med field. Although I will not pursue a life in nursing I will continue the dream of helping others. Nurses across the land have endured years of hard work, sacrificed fun, and time away from loved ones to become an assistant to Gods healing miracles. They put patients before themselves to return dads, moms, daughters, sons, and friends back in the arms of love and missed families. Nurses are just that, Gods assistant who he entrust with power of healing and comfort. So who truly decides which person will be or won't be a nurse? The organizations, Government, or the professors? How many people will you have to go through before, during and after to qualify as a nurse? Greed is not the answer nor the route which seems right. Placing a tag on what is or isn't a nurse should be left to the authoritative figures who trained you not a bureaucrat who determines what a nurse should be or shouldn't be. This system is broken not because I failed but by taking a system that worked and fixing it not to work for the patients or nurses but to regulate a field which provides true love and sacrifices to witness the reward of Gods hand. I know in conclusion nursing is not in my future. I have been called for many different things in life an have the ability to know when and when not to continue or pursue a field in which I was not intended to do. I hold my self accountable for not passing the exam. It was not the man behind the desk who decided I was going to fail but my own neglect and struggles to become something I was not. In an effort to help others I say, know your nursing process, Maslow, concepts, and brief through everything you know about safety in the care of clients. I have had countless of days and sleepless nights since my graduation in order to pass this horrifying exam. To no avail I failed once, twice, and a third time with no clue to why I failed. Now I realize it was not Gods will. As a believer in Jesus my Lord an Savior, I fasted, prayed, sacrificed, and cried for days to let His will be done. Hi, can you email me, I am about to take the nclex pn third time and would like to know your methods on study. It has been three months since I took the exam and have gone through burnt out periods.

That is so weird you posted that, I read her success story and tears rolled down my eyes. I am experiencing this first hand and she inspired me. I asked the Lord why I was not passing, this is my encouragement and confirmation to know its a delay.

I am so glad I read this. I have such a negative attitude about my 2 failures. I believe the Lord wanted me to read this so I would get back on track. I always think of this verse in the bible, Prverbs: Hope deferred makes the heart sick and a longing foe filled is a tree of life. I believe Jesus protects us from certain request because the dangers of being hurt ourselves and hurting others. I believen the Lord I love Jesus our father, savior and love. I was so upset during and after my exam the second time but I may not have put everything into it. I want my RN and know if I can pass this PN test that RN school will be much differently viewed. I am in the same boat as you. Though not RN. I failed for my second try and have decided to do a review class. What I have discovered is nothing new but a common mistake many make. Difficulty understanding what is being asked in the question. There are four categories and eight subcategories. Each must be addressed in the exam and you should know when the exam questions the category. I read this in 101 to increase your NCLEX score for RN's and PN's. RN is mildly different with management strategies but this book separates the two very well so we know what to look for. I posted a topic asking about the NCSBN course which I purchased yesterday and have gone through for the last few hours. So far this addresses the same problems explaining how to over come this issue. I knew it was not my knowledge of nursing, I have earned a bachelors in science aiming for a PT but came to realize nursing was more interesting. Knowing that I have all prerequisites for RN I decided to go LPN and do online RN as soon as I pass this exam. I have gained very depth understanding that the medical field is 90% critical thinking as 10% memorizing. I was taught to think one way in PT and not as a multiple resource personal. We had to use our own resources at hand so this placed me in unfamiliar grounds when questions that looked difficult had a simple answer. The test as I understand it is equal to high school sat for PNs and college compass test for RNs. This was addressed in two websites on evaluating the NCLEX methods. Its been one whole week and many hours researching as why I am failing a simple test with a 4.0 GPA BS and 94 avg in LPN. Yes I say this test is based on the ability to be a good test taker. I came across Q&A to NCLEX on their sight as why nurses fail the exam second & third time. They do not accurately explain the problem knowing that it would be unfair advantage for nurses who have not taken the exam. My only question to NCLEX would be if we have gone through 1 or 4 years of grueling education, clinical, and sacrifices why does being a good test taker make the difference in client care? How many nurses who pass the exam have made mistakes which cost lives? Does this exam truly make you a better nurse? If so, why not address this clearly in the programs or place a semester based on NCLEX training specific to what NCLEX requires? Delegate the categories based on the exam by subjects in the nursing courses and end the confusion for students dreading this challenge.

I know in the past if states do not participate in the quick result revenue then the PVT may not apply that I know of. I read this article based on that information. https://www.ncsbn.org/1225.htm There have been a few nurses who passed, which wrote on allnurses.com about the PVT not being liable in their state. This was 2 - 3 years ago which the company may have changed this by now?

If you google nursing forums in NY with questions regarding the PVT then you might come across a few saying the PVT works. Again its hard to tell, takes a bit of research to find out. In my state it works. How about your classmates? Have you emailed them or contacted them to see if it does the same? If everyone does not get a pop up then it does not apply to that state or area, but if it pops up on some then it more or less works. I believe NY maybe a state that has it. Not sure though.

It depends on your state. If you receive a pop up then your state more or less allows the person to know whether you passed or not. Its about 95% accurate. Its hard to tell which states allow this and do not. Did you get a good pop up?

Today I received my NCLEX report and it was the same results as the first time took the NCLEX. So I decided to join a review course NCSBN since they are the authors of the exam. I have boiled down my mistakes to lack of understanding the structure of the NCLEX. Difficulty thinking in terms of what the questions are asking. I have always made it through school by memorizing but to understand how something is phrased is not so easy. If its to the point then I know what to look for and 90% of the time I answer question correctly. But much more effort goes into a question when you have to understand the structural foundation. I have read more positive feedback about this course than others, has anyone found this online review faulty or more so successful?
