I felt judged and discriminated
Its sad that a professional would use that approach with you, however it is not surprising. There will always be people, issues, or situations that can come to fight and distract you from achieving your goals. It sounds like you have a great support system behind you. Just remeber when someone is rude and disrespectful to you, its because they don't like their own situation. She can think what she wants about you. She doesn't count in your life, so she is null and void ! But don't be a doormat and let anybody treat you unfairly. Remeber she has a supervisor. When something like that happens to you, feel free to stop that person in their tracks, and let them know you would rather speak to someone else who would be productive to what your trying to accomplish. You may hear the same information from them, but its all in the delivery. I wish you luck on your refresher and exam. And even though it may not be in your personality to respond to someone like her. Just a little bit of BOLDNESS will keep you from feeling defeated like you are now. Good luck !!!

Piedmont Healthcare New Grad Residency 2013
Thanks ! It's great that you didn't put all your eggs in one basket. I made sure I had other opportunities with other facilities. But sometimes you have to go with who is making the effort to bring you in and that's communicating with you. It sucks to just feel like your waiting. One of my choices other than Piedmont still has me waiting, and I haven't heard from them. Oh well, I stick with what I have. Good Luck to you

Piedmont Healthcare New Grad Residency 2013
When I met with the recruiter who gave me my contract, she stated that the program will not start in August but was pushed backed to Sept 9 because she needs time to get all of our paperwork, drug screen, background checks, orientation, new employment info etc into the system. I know that she told me that she would be out of the office this week wed-fri. So maybe if you check on Monday, they will respond.

That's interesting since they hired 2 people from the first co hort. I'm not sure what to say about their response. However I can tell you that If you go to the GBON approved Nursing Schools you will see it states initial approval. That initial approval goes back to what I explained before. And I can tell you that I have personally registered with Pearson Vue to take my Nclex where I had to pick my school off of their approved schools list with the code. If you look at this link you will see the school code for the ADN and LPN programs. A lot of times when a new program is started their is a process for that program to progress and establish a specific status that would make them known by other organizations i.e hospitals, clinics etc. So I would tell you not to be surprised if people are ignorant to the facts that pertain to that specific program until they have completed that initial process of becoming established and known. https://www.ncsbn.org/NCLEX_Educational_Program_Codes.pdf

I knew of some people who got hired at Shepard Spinal center, Landmark Hosptal in Athens, Grady, Piedmont and some people stayed at the facility they had already worked for. I think they might have been LPNs or CNAs already.

Hi! The pass rate for Nclex is not posted yet nor completely calculated and listed on the GBON because its a new program. I just graduated in May from there and nobody from my co-hort has taken their nclex yet. But they will be using the first three co-horts pass or fail to decide the pass rate. The first co-hort finished December 2012, next was Feb 2013 then my group in May. I'm not sure if everyone from the first co-hort has taken their test but I do know that everyone from the 2nd has not. My group is just waiting for the BON to complete our paperwork so we can get our ATT letter from Pearson. But so far what I've heard was that people were passing they're test first try. I have heard of a few who did not pass first try. We have a 4 day Kaplan review, and those that failed didn't attend or possibly did not study like they needed or who knows??? But so far so good for all the others.

I need big advice friends!!!!!
I am using Hurst and Saunders for content. I watch the Hurst lectures and follow along with my Saunders and highlights the points while she is speaking. This helps me remember what I need to know. Hurst covers what you need to know for the SATA and she says things in a way you can remember all the factors for whatever the question is asking. But it really helps when you read it and hear it.

Help with nclex review
Hi, my school uses Kaplan. We have used it all through the program just like you use ATI in yours. They have just given us access to the Qbanks and question trainers test. They have a method called the "Decision Tree" to help you analyze the questions. I graduate in May also, and so far I had been doing the Kaplan Focused Reviews and Saunders. But I really liked the decision tree method. It gave me a method to making the correct answer choice if i wasnt sure what I should pick. There is also two kaplan books free for download on Kindle. You can find them on amazon. #1 is Kaplans Basics book, its green. #2 is Kaplan RN Coursebook, its brown. These two are really helping me as well. You can download Kindle for PC to see these books. I have access to ATI and have done some of the test on there. When I compare both I feel Kaplans questions make you go further in your critical thinking, but teaches you all you need to know in the rationals. I hope this helps. Oh I also bought the RN book off the " Ready to Pass" website. It sounds like a lot but really its not. I use Saunders to review content I'm not sure about, and Kaplan and ATI to do practice questions on different levels. I found this website and used her advice and bought one of the SATA books for one cent. FREE NCLEX Review Quizzes, Exams, Questions and Resources Good Luck, from one May 2013 graduate to the Next.

Choosing between nursing schools
Would moving to a new city be a hassle for you? Using your money to move your things, and getting settled in possibly being distracted by life in a new city, and picking up major student loans while digging deeper in debt. Nay, I don't like the sound of that. But I do like the sound of you being in a familiar place where you are already settled in your normal routine, and may be able to make adjustments accordingly. A place where you don't have to use an extensive amount of money for a quality nursing education sounds great too. Congratulations on being accepted into both schools, but also remember you have to pass and make it through. It would probably be a good idea to be in the least stressful environment. Choose the place that would create the most positive factors for you completing the program. Best wishes. AZ is gorgeous by the way.

Need advise and help
Continue with the restart, and focus on your work. It's o.k if your have to stay in the program a little longer. At least you get a chance at finishing. Just imagine what you would be doing if you quit? Sometimes working our way up from the lowest point is the best thing to get us to appreciate the opportunity and take full advantage of what we have. Think about it, there are some students who can't get into a program, and would love to have your spot in spite of the extra time. Value your position and try not to allow personal stress to develop into a nursing school nightmare.

I need some encouragement........
Congratulations you made it to your second semester. That's a huge accomplishment in itself, so be proud for getting this far in spite of the issues you were facing. It's clear that your grieving a loss, and going through a major women's change at the same time. HUGE Distractions from Nursing Classes!!! Don't focus on them. It seems that you need a little help being able to focus and concentrate on your class work. I see where you said you have studied really hard, but don't quit. Make an appointment to talk with your doctor about your menopause symptoms and insomnia. They should prescribe the best treatment for you, pharmaceutical or something alternative. It's a good idea to also ask if they would refer you to a counselor who you could talk to a few time a month to vent your feelings. As far as your studies, you might be able to find someone in your class that needs a study partner. This can help keep you focused on nursing while your studying, instead of letting your thoughts get distracted on your personal issue. And don't vent to your class mates, they have their own issues and need to focus on nursing too. They might listen at first but trust me, they will not want to hear about it again. Try to distract yourself from your life issues, in exchange for all nursing material. It sucks to keep everything bottled up inside, but if you can save your grieving for a later date, DO IT. This is the time that your doing something for yourself and you have a goal to meet. Study like your life depends on it. Mentally block out all distractions possible until graduation and NCLEX is passed. Pray for encouragement, and don't let anybody throw you a pity party, not even yourself. Your better than that !!:)

Best tablet to use?
I have a Samsung Galaxy tab 2. The 7.0 it fits in my scrub pocket and is great for use during lecture. It comes with a standard app named polaris office. It has word office, adobe pdf, power point and some type of spreadsheet I don't use. I use it during class and it lets you open your power point from class, edit them, and add notes at the bottom of the slides. It also lets you save stuff to the cloud or dropbox. I can log into my school website and see my classes, do quiz and check email. Ive taken it to clinicals and used it for notes. Its a really affordable tablet. I paid 179.00 at Best buy. I use it for everything. Im in my last term of nursing school and It is truly student friendly. Not to mention we don't have much money but the price is great for the product. Its awesome.
