  1. ASN, 40, 3.29 ( damn transfer credits )
  2. I am in nursing school currently and working. I do not think that it is an impossible task. That being said my program is only Tuesdays at school from 2-9 and clinicals on weekends. I passed on a couple other local programs because I needed to work and could not do the weekday classes and clinicals. Also I believe there is an online degree if you are good at self motivation. I think the school is Excelsior(sp). Good luck and stay positive. You can do it and it will be worth the hard work.
  3. Just a quick background on myself. I have very little hospital experience, I volunteered in an ED for a few months, and as of today I am a new nursing student. In my limited time in the ED I often heard nurses mention/complain about other nurses calling out for their shift. Also I have a friend recently tell me about a bad few days at work over the weekend when each day had 3-4 nurses call out. My question is do nurses seem to call out more than others or is this problem elevated because of the limited nurses on the floor or in a certain department?
  4. School started for me today and I do not believe I will join a study group. Books, other students, and faculty have suggested students form groups. I guess I will find out in a few weeks how my approach works.
  5. My level of anxiety was much higher in the months leading up to turning in my application than any other time. A couple months before the application deadline my school had an information seminar for the ADN program. After that seminar I felt very good about my chances. The waiting for acceptance letter was more irritating than worrisome. My first class of nursing school was today. :-)I wish you luck on your plans to become a nurse.
  6. If you transfer into BCC with your LPN you still have to complete the core classes. I know in my A&P classes I had a few LPN's in each. As far as the BCC Palm Bay RN program goes it is around 20 months, 5 semesters. I assume the same is for the Cocoa campus except it starts in August. My program is from Jan 2013 until the end of the summer in 2014. Not sure this helps much but I would advise taking at least the Biology, Microbiology, A&P 1,2 starting a program. From what I can tell by looking at my books a base knowledge will help.
  7. I am startng in Spring too. Can I get an invite to the page on FB. fb.com/big.tucker
  8. I will be starting in Jan 2013 also. I am very excited and have been scanning my books but not really studying. I have also spent way to much money I am sure on other books but if they help it will be worth it I suppose.
  9. Congratulations!! I also start my program in January. I am excited and looking forward to this challenge. I'm very curious to see how many other males our in the class of 60 students besides myself.
