  1. Hey leroy221, I'm happy for you. I would say the best advise is to always be ahead of the game. All the accelerated programs my friends are in comparef to NYU are relatively the same. Its not easy nit its very do-able. Go over all your syllabi and see if there are any assignments you can get of the way. I personally had to complete modules online and kaplan review quizzes as part of my grade for more than one course. So I would do them all asap. During your clinicals you will probably have nuraing care plans due. Do those right away also. There's nothing worse than having one of those due when you have two exams to study for. A great tip is to check your school library for textbooks. Most of the books will be put on reserve by your professors, so if your low on cash or just want to be cost effective, only buy the books you feel you will need by your side. Otherwise make time in your schedule to spend maybe 2 hours per class studying at the library. if I can think of anything else, ill definitely let you know. Again, congrats on your acceptance and the best of luck!!
  2. Hey leroy221! Omg! I'm sooo late on responding to your message. I haven't been on this page a long time and can not send private messages. I actually declined the offer to Utica because I was accepted to NYU accelerated program and it was closer to home. Also, Utica's program (then) was a brand new program and cohort so I was a bit skeptical. They weren't giving any financial aid because they had not yet recieved support for their nursing program. Its not all online. There are classes at a building that I did go visit built for the program where you would complete simulations and have tests and you also do clinicals at the surrounding hospitals. Again I'm so sorry for replying so late. I see youve moved on and are choosing between two schools. Good luck with your futur endeavors!

  4. Hey guys, I'm currently in my third semester in the accelerated program at NYU. Its really a great program. Figured I'm stop into some forums to respond to any unanswered questions. You all have great credentials. The admissions committee does look at gpa as does all school however personal statement and each applicant is reviewed individually. My cohort is made up of a variety of differents with overall gpas from 3 2-3.8 (from my knowledge). The number doesn't always predit you success in the program. They do however look at yout pre reqs. These are classes that you need in order to understand the material in each course. So do well (still no need to stress if you don't get all A's) and focus on writing a great personal statement. Really sell yourself. And just know what whatever is meant to be will happen. Two years ago I was rejected from Stonybrook and Hunter college. I applied again that spring to Hunter, NYU and Columbia and got accepted to them all. Never give up on a dream! Let me know if you guys have anymore questions. Good luck!
  5. Did everyone get they're class schedules?
  6. Has anyone recieved the email about the clinical placement tool? Past email said we would get it today but still nothing...
  7. Hi ebinbrooklyn!Reading your message is as if you were telling my story. I was in your exact situation in june. I graduated in 2010 with a BA in bio and I applied to stonybrook and hunter as well as LIU brooklyn and downstate. I took the GRE and TEAS since every school has different requirements and a few pre reqs. I was waitlisted at stonybrook, but unfortunately i didnt get into any of them. I was torn. I felt like whats the point. But you just cant think like that. If this is what you want to you just have to keep trying. So I read forums n talked to professors and graduates. I came to the conclusionthat maybe it would be easier to get into the spring semester since a lot of people wait for the fall (maybe its them trying to finish pre reqs, idk) but it was just my logic i guess lol. So i re wrote my personal essay and poured my heart into it and got a really good recommendation. Looked up some new schools and applied to the "what the heck" schools like NYU ane Columbia thinking at least i know i tried :) i also applied to a new program at Utica College and some other school (Pace, binghamton, etc) and waited. I first heard back from utica. They were really nice and though they are new it seems like theyre program will be very successful (we'll see). I kind of had my decision set on them. Then i heared back from NYU which of course is at the top of my list. And i got in! The cost is heavy, i know but ill just have to try and work it out.Anyways Im just trying to say dont be down on yourself or feel hurt that you didnt in. Its the world we live in. Our grades arent all there is to us and schools know that. Take another look at your essay and make sure it really explains why you want to be a nurse. You are definitely qualified and any school would be lucky to have you. You just have to tell them. I wish you all the best in the future. Hope my story helped a little. Let me know if you have any question. I'll be happy to answer! :)
  8. Hope everyone is having a Happy Thanksgiving!! :)
  9. San0008,Like bleedgangreen21, I too recieved the same immunization email. Also you should be receiving your financial aid award email in a few days and some more emails about orientation and registration, etc. Congrats by the way!! :)
  10. Yam582, I think if u applied directly into the accelerated program you will have to finish all your prereqs before the start of the semester. However, if you applied as a transfer you can continue to finish you pre reqs. You would be considered a non accelerated student. This is from the website:Please note that students with a baccalaureate degree in another field who have not met all prerequisite requirements (and do not plan to meet all prerequisite requirements before matriculating) should not apply for admission directly into the 15 Month Accelerated BS Program. They should apply as college transfer, but should select the traditional program option (on the NYU Supplement) as they will need a term or two to complete prerequisite requirements before beginning the 15 month curriculum. These applicants can follow the application instructions above. Again, the only different is that you will NOT select accelerated track on the NYU Supplement.Hope that helps!!
  11. Hey! Thank you!! I recieved the email thursday but it didnt sync to my phone until friday morning. I applied for the priority deadline around the end if september. Good luck!
