RN-MSN sounds like a good way to get everything done. However, Nurse Practitioners reply on their experiences as RNs to make critical decisions. Not having RN experience before working as a Nurse practitioner will make your life very stressful and one will be more prone to making mistakes. Also, getting a job as a nurse practitioner without RN experience will be very tough. Lastly, it is recommended to work as an RN for at least one year before going back to school. By doing this, one can get a sense of what they really want to pursue (Family nurse practitioner, Acute Nurse Practitioner, Primary care Nurse practitioner). For instance, the idea of working as an acute care NP may interest you. But then you start working in a hospital and observing what being an acute care NP entails and your entire perspective can drastically change. This is why I believe it is better to land a job as an RN before going back to school for your master's degree.

FDU has a good reputation. They also have two campuses. I believe the RN-BSN program is only offered at the metropolitan campus in Teaneck. It is also a private university. Therefore, tuitions rate is about 1,100 per credit, more or less.

Go for what's more convenient for you. That is why I am leaning towards FDU. Isn't Rutgers' RN to BSN an online program?

Bergen Community College has a scholar program with FDU. As soon as you are finished with your associates, they will provide a seamless transition into your desired bachelor's degree. Im planning to do it at FDU. About 10 minutes away from me, plus Bergen students get a minimum of 40% off tuition when transferred. I work full time, overnight shift.

I haven't done that yet. I work for NYU Hospital so I just have to take the forms to employees' health and have it filled out by the Nurse Practitioner. I had my Hep B done last year. I believe Im up to date with all my immunizations. You wont get all three shots of Hep B prior to beginning the program. The shots have to be months apart from each other. So don't stress that one.

Once they take you in, it takes about 10-20 minutes. Haven't gotten anything pertaining to uniform.

You can just walk in. You don't have to fill anything.
