Is this for the NP program?

TWU Houston FNP Fall 2017
I just got accepted for the TWU NP program for Spring 2018. Has anyone taken just one class at a time? Is this allowed? I have a small daughter and work full-time. Don't want to miss out on too much on her day to day stuff and am in no real rush to graduate...Thanks!

Does RN school give you your CNA cert.?
Thank you all for your responses. Classicdame - Do you know how long the student must be in the program before they can apply through the Dept of Health? I am debating on going ahead and enrolling in a CNA course (4 weeks of night classes - $500), but if I don't have to wait too long before I can just request the cert. then I'll do that instead. I just want to be able get my foot in the door, which most places now require a CNA cert., and I don't want to have to wait until I'm two or three semesters in before I can start. Any suggestions?

UGH! I just called. I am SO impatient! Letters have been sent and apparently they will be telling us how many points you had total and the lowest point total that was accepted. However, she wouldn't tell me that info over the phone! UGH!!!

Anyone applying have closer to 20 points? Seems like everyone on here has closer to 30! You geniuses!!! :) I have somewhere around 21/22, so I'm trying to be hopeful, yet still realistic.

If they are coming from Tarrant County...when should we expect them? I was thinking like you kellikelli, that we'd be expecting them on Thursday or Friday.

Oh yeah, I am a total stalker of this thread and the site in general. Makes my anxiety worse, but I still can't stay away! UGH! Anyone know if they will TELL us over the phone tomorrow? Or Thursday? I wish there was an admissions website we could enter our student IDs and it would spit back a big, fat YES!!! in sparkly letters with confetti flying everywhere!

WHAT??!!? What's an ed plan?!?! I got the degree audit if that's what you are talking about. But half of the classes I DID have weren't included on that thing the first time around, so I don't know how much I trust it. Plus there was that whole "provide documentation to have classes considered" aspect of the application, so who knows how much consideration they actually give those situations. Anywho...just have to wait it out, I guess. Thanks for the help! :)

MorganB - That's part of my problem (besides the waiting, which is AWFUL) is that I am not 100% sure how many points I actually had going in. Some of my transfer courses were ify because of prefixes not matching up and all that, so my points total could be +/- 2 points. I wish we could call in and find out exactly how many points we are being considered on our applications. Boo! Anyone have any new news???

Spring 2013 El Centro College ADN
Asho2087 - 24 was the highest they'd seen as of August 30th? That's awesome news! Did they tell you that when you called in - or do you trust your source? I'm sure there are higher now, as even just the few people on this post have higher than 24, but I would think that puts the rest of us who had just UNDER 24 in pretty good shape.

Does RN school give you your CNA cert.?
Hello all, I'm hoping to start an RN program in Jan. 2013 and want to get my CNA cert. so I can gain some experience while in school. I remember hearing that after so many semesters of school, you are considered a CNA. I wanted to a) verify if this is true and b) find out how many semesters it takes before you are eligible to apply for a CNA position. Assuming that it is true, I'm trying to decide if I should wait and get my CNA cert. through school or go ahead and take the CNA course before I even start the nursing program. CNA school is somewhat expensive and I am already about to spend a ton on the nursing program, so not sure what's the best route. By the way, I'm in Dallas, Texas...in case it varies by state. Thanks so much!
