Yes I did get the job! My first RN job! I am so excited! I start in 2 weeks! :) Thank you for your response! I have been reviewing a few things from Saunders Comprehensive Review for The NCLEX RN Exam. They have a section called "Care of the Newborn". Such as how to assess a newborn (full head to toe assessment, vital signs, apgar scale, body measurement, weight, fontanels, umbilical chord, etc.) It's pretty helpful!

Hello ! I am a new grad & I got called for an interview to work on the Nursery Unit! And I think it went really well! The Nurse Manager was awesome & she definitely made it seem she was interested in hiring me! I am suppose to hear from her some day this week! I want to start reviewing material. Can anyone give me advice on what things I should know before I start orientation? Any advice you are willing to share regarding the Nursery Unit or caring for newborns? I don't want to start my first day being completely clueless. lol P.s During my interview she mentioned that it was a Level 2 Nursery. (Many of you might be thinking, "shouldn't you wait until you get hired first?". lol You are right, but I am trying to stay positive, & I am sure this thread could be helpful to other RN's too! :) )

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I really appreciate it! I will definitely apply to facilities outside of Chicago, and if I get hired then I will just accept it and hope for the best. Especially since it is so hard to find a job in the Chicago area. Crossing my fingers I'll find a job soon. And If I happen to relocate, I'll make the best out of it. Thanks!!! :)

Hey! I watched the videos twice, and then I just used their packets to study. I just kept reviewing it & reviewing it until I had it practically memorized. Hurst wants you to memorize & fully understand their material. That's what I paid for & that's what I was going to do! Once I accomplished that, I moved onto to their question bank. I did these 5-6 days before my Nclex test date. They have 6 tests that are 125 questions each. I finished my 6th test 2 days before my actual NCLEX test. My test scores were between 82-91 points out of 125 points. I took my NCLEX & passed with 75 questions. Hurst was the only resource I used ! And besides Hurst's questions, I did not do any other practice questions! 2 days before my test I took it easy, briefly reviewed material that was my weakness. At that point i felt like I couldn't do much; either I know it or I dont! I kept reminding myself that I studied as much as I could, I was going to do great, and it was time for me to become an RN! Even though I was nervous as heck, I kept repeating it & it gave me confidence when answering questions! :)

I was the exact same way, the last 2 days I couldn't focus or retain any information. I had trouble sleeping and I had palpitations. It is so hard to stay calm. But try to take slow deep breaths, know that you studied as much as you could, there is nothing you can do about it now, and keep telling yourself it is time to get this NCLEX over with already, and it is time for you to be officially a Registered Nurse! And when you get in front of that computer screen, be confident, tell yourself that you will be able to answer each question, and you will pass! CONFIDENCE MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! Best of luck!!

I did online and it was perfect for me. They were great. I was able to watch the lectures any time I want. I was able to rewind, pause, and look up a definition if something was not completely clear. I am also not a morning person, and after a few hrs of studying my brain shuts off and I need a break. With live reviews the instructor keeps going whether you are ready or not. I can't learn like that. So think about what works best for you. You can't go wrong with either or. They teach the same material.

Hey I wrote back to you in the message, but it is not showing that I responded. :/ So I am going to paste here what I wrote to you. Sorry! "Yes just like that! Also, I would do this as well: 1. What are s/s of metabolic acidosis? 2. what are causes of metabolic acidosis? 3. What is the treatment for metabolic acidosis? Each question was on a different notecard & the answers were on the back. More examples: 1. Peritoneal Dialysis:there are 2 types, what are they? Can you describe them? Answer on the back: 1. CAPD. Client must have lots of energy because it is 4xday, 7xweek. Not recommended for pt with arthritis or disc cuz it puts a lot of pressure on back 2. CCPD. This method happens at night, & its disconnected in morning. They have more freedom! 2. Peritoneal Dialysis: 1. color of drainage? 2. what do you do if fluid isnt draining completely? Answer on back: 1. You want color to be clear;straw colored. CLoudy = infection! 2. Turn pt side to side! When reviewing the notecards i tried my best to answer the notecard without looking at the back. If I couldnt remember the answer, I would then look on the back for the answer & I kept repeating it & repeating it. Also, as long as I was able to understand the disease and why they have those signs & symptoms, and why we do certain interventions, that's when I knew I was understanding the material. That's what Hurst is about, understand the "why's"! Once I understood the "why's" I was more confident & this made a difference when walking into that test center and answering questions! Thank you!! I appreciate it! I tried my best to memorize the packet! I literally kept going over it & over it and over it! I would pretend like I was explaining the material to someone; like I was tutoring someone! Somehow this helps me! :/ I made notecards of every packet !! Because I am the kind of person that I have to constantly go over things for me to fully understand it & memorize it! This is how I learn. For example my note cards were like this: "what position do you place a pt for lumbar puncture?", "what are complications of lumbar puncture?", "how should the fluid look?" So I was basically quizzing myself in these notecards! It was sooooo time consuming! But it was worth it. I studied hardcore for a month in a half! I wasnt in a hurry to take NCLEX, and I wanted to make sure I would truly pass it! So I took my time studying for it! I am a slow learner, I needed that amount of time to study! Everyone is different! Good luck to you! You will pass! :) Oh and I did do notecards for meds too! :/ I did not do labs!

I'm glad to share my results! I do not mind at all!! 82, 85, 85, 87, 89, 91 points (out of 125 points, NOT percents) So it looks like you are doing good! Yay! And I read on the Hurst website that if you average 84-85 points, you are more likely to pass! :) Good luck! Go in there with confidence! It really makes a difference! :)

Hey guys, Just want to let you know that I used Hurst to study for NCLEX-RN, and I did not use any other study material. I made sure I knew the core content, I listened to videos twice, made note-cards, and I studied, studied, studied their material!! They have 6 practice tests (125 each) and those were the only practice questions I completed. ( I did these 6 days before my test!) I Love Hurst, because I learned a LOT, but I was still worried that what if it wasn't enough? I kept asking myself should I do more practice questions? Should I use the Saunders Book? Should I purchase something else? Well I didn't have time because I spent all my time studying Hurst! So the day had come to take the test, and I passed with 75 questions!! Also I want to let you guys know that I wasn't an A student in nursing school. I always struggled! I had taken my exit Hesi numerous times, and I barely passed it. So going into NCLEX I was afraid, but I did it. So if I can do it you can do it! Good luck to everyone!

Mine shut off at 75, I wanted to cry! I was holding in my tears when I got up and walked out !! I did want more questions because I felt like I was doing terrible! With 75 questions you either did Good or you did Bad! So this is why I wanted more questions because that meant I was still in the ball game! So you are not the only one who feels this way! I find out my results tomorrow!

THANKS for sharing all this info! I really appreciate it! And I know how you feel that getting low scores can be discouraging.. that's how my entire nursing school has been... Low scores! But I still can pass boards! So thank you for giving me hope! Today I take my nlcex- rn exam, and I am hoping for the best! Crossing fingers! :)

How did you do on your Hurst review questions? My scores were between 82-91 (not percents, but out of 125) . Also, are the hurst questions as difficult as NCLEX? Congrat's on passing! I can't wait to be in ur position!

So I took my 4th hesi, and I passed with 964! THANK YOU EVERYONE! I used hesistudy.com & the yellow comprehensive saunders book!

How were you able to do this? I need to get in HESI mode and think like HESI, but I do not know how! What was your approach?

Does anyone know if the Version 4 RN Exit Hesi is harder from the version 1,2,3? I feel real terrible knowing I cannot pass this Exit hesi. I have to get >900. I have taken hesi tests after each of my nursing courses & I would average 700, but I would still pass the class because I would do well in my in class exams! I have no idea how to get above a 900. I feel like Hesi questions differ from the NCLEX 4000 questions. When I am taking the hesi test I am always confused and I feel like 2 answers can be correct, and I end up choosing the wrong one! Please help! I need & want to graduate in March!
